Will this thread ever end???!!!!!

but one more comment. I am one who mentioned the germ concern and apparently I didn't phrase my post correctly. I just never gave a whole lot of thought to the comforter thing and I responded to the posts I read when I thought about it. I'm not paranoid about it and I never said I thought that you could get some dreaded disease as some have mentioned. I was just talking about germs when you have large amounts of people ANYWHERE. It can't be avoided but spraying a little Lysol can't hurt can it? And yes, perhaps I am a little "Germaphobic" and that's because I teach elementary students and I see first hand how fast common illnesses spread through kids (and faculty) touching the same items. And yes, little boys especially will get naked and sit on the bed to put on their swimsuit. I think it is a male's "right of passage" or something lol.Originally posted by Threehearts
I do not think that terrible things will happen from a dirty comforter. I would be surprised if you have had a patient come in with a bad infection gotten from sheets. I never have but that certainly doesn't mean it has never happened. As far as immunosuppression goes, we are told to avoid hot tubs, kiddie pools(much higher ecoli factor than comforters) and obviously ill people.
When I first heard all this a few years back, I vowed NEVER to use the bedspreads again... but we keep the AC on to beat humidity and we get cold. Maybe I will start folding the bedspreads and putting them away in the closet, and calling and asking for two extra blankets... I would hope the ones housekeeping brings would be washed?
Sorry I don't have kids, as I've mentioned, nor siblings, so how would I know the changing habits of children?

I know all the stories about how costly it is to wash them so often that they wear out sooner but I think it's pretty costly to stay in those deluxe hotels too.

Since my mother started wipeing down the aircraft, she hasn't been sick on a trip.
with all due respect, I'm sorry but the visual on this has me cracking up.....a nice little lady disinfecting an entire jet, inside and out, with disposable wipes
. Already a frequent handwasher.
