Can you attach those child bed rails to the sofa beds in studios? My guess would be probably not, but just wondering. DD will turn 3 the day we get there and has slept in a crib. She's too big for the pack n play now so her and her older sister (10) will share a bed. If a bedrail doesn't work what would be a good substitution? Stack pillows or something? I'd hate to put her in bed with us because she's a good sleeper. We made that mistake with my older DD when she was 1.5 and couldn't get her out of our bed til she was 8!! DEFINTELY not going down that road again! What do you do with your kids or grandkids in that situation? TIA! :goodvibes

You can request bedrails from housekeeping. IIRC, they are the kind that fit under the mattress.

Best wishes -

Another option might be to make a bed for her out of the sofa cushions on the floor using a wall on one side. Rolling off the cushions won't be much of a problem compared to falling out of bed.

If I were you I'd request the guardrails and try it out (won't cost you anything) and if it doesn't look like it will work then do what Diane suggested and use the cushions on the floor... or you could bring an air bed for her in the event that the bedrail doesn't fit right, we did this for my son because he was a little intimidated sleeping in the living room by himself. We just set up the air bed in the bedroom and he was good. He is perfectly used to sleeping on his own at home but I think the new surroundings and different noises kind of freaked him out a bit. Just something to consider if you haven't already.

We did put my daughter in bed with us (she is 2) but I hear you... it is hard when they get into habits like that. FWIW, my kids have always slept in different situations on vacations and then went back to their normal routine at home, I think most kids can adapt pretty well to a temporary change in routine, but of course you know your kids best! Have a great trip! :sunny:

Thanks for the advice everyone! :thumbsup2 I didn't know housekeeping had guardrails. I'll try that and I didn't even think about the airbed. I do have one. Another thing I suppose we could do is DH and I take the sofabed and put the girls on the other bed and I know a guardrail will fit on that. Thanks for the tips. I appreciate it!

We always put the cushions from the sofa on the floor next to the pull out. That way if someone falls out, they don't have as far to fall (so far, so good, they haven't fallen out of bed).
