Becoming Lean, Mean, Endurace Event Machines in 2008

Aloha Jeff: Ouch, those lashings hurt (wet noodles hurt almost as much as paper cuts :lmao: )! In my defense, I did mingle and make small talk. I said the appropriate things. But I didn't enjoy the show, and so such conversations feel strained from my perspective. The stuffing my mouth was just an added discomfort. Not good at the polite lies that make social conversations palatable, I guess.

I hope your PF feels better today. I would imagine it's somewhat frustrating to take time off, made maybe a little better since Les can't run either. NO fried catfish. That's not good for you, even if it's good eating and you "run to eat."
(DOOD loves fried catfish and would probably tell you to live it up.)

AmyK: I seldom find work fun--even if it's sometimes challenging or satisfying, so you have my sympathies. I guess most of us "work to play," don't we? WTG on your longer-than-anticipated walk. You've also reminded me to do Pilates tonight--I don't know if I should thank you for that, though. ;) I feel pretty much the same way as you do about August goals. I blew July, so I want a do-over.

Ah, so you have to alternate movie-going nights sometimes because of DD. That explains it. I really liked The Dark Night, and didn't check my watch once (which is how I judge movies, instead of a thumbs-up/down or star rating). But it was long, and actually felt like it could have been two movies with more developed stories for the Joker and Harvey Dent characters. I also think it's a good idea to rewatch Batman Begins before seeing The Dark Knight; both are stand-alone movies, but I think you can see Chris Nolan's vision for Batman if you see the two films close together. I ended up liking Batman Begins (I was lukewarm on it) better AFTER having seen The Dark Knight. Nolan's best film, IMO, remains Memento.

You're making me really look forward to reading Twilight. I did a similar thing with Harry Potter--waited until book 6 was released before starting (because I thought there was only going to be 6 books--doh!). And I love midnight releases. Crowds of eager readers really make me happy. :cloud9:

Howard: I remain impressed with your weight-loss and lean, meanness accomplishments. I know I need to avoid ice cream, Scotch, and take-out, but haven't shown the willpower to do so recently. Maybe I need to work more on the other end and hope the eating follows. Not very balanced, but I'll go for effective at this point. Enduring your runs? It sounds like you're enjoying them, too! And 31 miles + XT. That's effective! You'll be happy to know that I've signed up for an account with my virtual-cycle machines (they're called Espresso machines here). I just can't let those virtual riders continue to beat me.

Stacie: I didn't mean to make you feel like you should hang your head. Really, it was just meant to encourage you. We all go through those times where other things tend to take over. And I know you have lots of things on your plate. You really like your aquacise--have you done that in a while? I think you should come with me to my next gathering and help me in the supporting actress category. Better yet, you could be my body double! :cool1: How do you feel about making academic small-talk at an English department gathering as the significant other?

Dave: I so admire you for making those big changes to your life to improve the quality for you (and Erica). That's such a big decision--to earn less money--and one our culture doesn't tend to validate. No pressure on you to post more, as I know how busy you are. Just know the pretty princesses miss their perky panda! :yay:

Jeanne: Awww, we love you too! Randy Pausch was an incredible human being, and the more I learned about him (a local guy), the more impressed I was. It makes me want to write my own "Last Lecture" (university tradition, but one we could all practice I think). If anyone would like to see him speak, here's a YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo

Mike: Ugh, your running sounds like it was under tough summer conditions. WTG on getting it done! I hope you're feeling fine, otherwise. :cheer2:

Hi to all our other Lean Meaners out there! :flower3:

As for me: 5 miles today. Salad for lunch, which was an easy decision given how humid it is. Loss of appetite, you know. We're sleeping in our living room again, on our futon, as that's where the air-conditioning unit is. Does anyone here remember sleep porches?

Debra~ You go get them Virtual-Riders! You can do it! :cheer2:  :cool1: Thanks for always taking the time to write something for me (and everyone else). It means a lot. I told Cam that I'd love to meet you when we come out to Western PA for a visit. Maybe we can meet somewhere in the Burgh or a mid-way point.

Here is my effort for tonight. I ran after work, so I didn't have much energy and I didn't have time to eat lunch today so I was runnin' on empty. It was hot and humid too... what else is new?

Miles: 5
Time: 46:34
Pace: 9:18

I have 4 miles on tap for tomorrow. Have a super-fantastic evening!

Hi Everyone! I hope everyone had a good day!

Stacie I hadn't looked too closely yet at where I should stick the longer runs in and I am certainly NO expert since I have only been doing this since January, but my thoughts are ( and I think I'd just add the 12 miler and another lower mileage LR). I don't know. Like I said, I am not experienced with this.

3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 4, 8, 6, 10, 8,12,8,5

I am JUST getting back on track with workouts this week. Between vacations, me being sick, DD being so sick last week, I hadn't done much for 2-3 weeks. For me, what has helped is making out a plan in excel for each week. I have left room each week for rearrangement if LTO, so I never feel that when I miss a day that it totally screws my whole week up. You will get back on track soon.:goodvibes :goodvibes I give you props for even thinking about working out in the morning. I can't go there yet myself.

Howard :worship: :worship: on your miles!!

Mike Sounds like you got in a good run, despite the heat and humidity! I am envious of that pace, with every run I am getting closer and closer to that pace!

Dave Glad to see you posting again!

Debra I definitely agree with your thoughts on work. In short what is going on at my work, is that someone with way less experience is being given preferential treatments and assignments that the rest of us usually do because of her, um, upper body assets. Example, I usually do material budgeting and costing for scientific grants/proposals. She got asked to do one last week, and what would have taken me less than 2 days to put together because I have done it before took her 5! Anyhow, it just makes me feel like this :furious: :furious:

I have to confess that I bailed on pilates tonight. I had work homework to do  :sad1: :sad1: Thursday is my normally planned pilates day, so I will do it tomorrow.

I will be interested to hear your thoughts on twilight when you get to read it. I think I waited until HP5 came out before I started reading. I went to a midnight release for book 6 and it was crazy! For HP7 I was 2-3 weeks post partum, so I just waited until the morning for that one. I will pass your Dark Knight thoughts on to DH.

Hi to Lisa,Connie,Wendy,Jeanne,Tracey,Beth,Cindy,Vic,Jeff,AmyBeth and anyone I missed:wave::wave:Hope you are all doing well!:goodvibes :goodvibes

For me w3d2 today. I ran outside, i was tired of the dreadmill, and running inside saves me little sweat. I felt really good and added on an extra set intervals. I think I managed 2.25 miles during intervals in about 30 minutes. I am getting closer and closer to my goal of 2.5 miles in 30 minutes. With warm up and a longer slow cool down my miles totaled 3.15 in 45 minutes.

Have a good evening everyone!

Holy cr@p, Howard.....you do 5 miles in the time it takes me to do 3! :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: (one for each mile) :rotfl:

Good morning guys and pretty princesses.

I have anoher extended hours day at work today, yuck. The corp bosses are here to visit. Since everyone's numbers are down they feel they have to visit all the stores and pump us all up. Personally I think they should stop paying the super expensive fashion models to put our glasses on their face and do some decent advertising.

We live in a rural farm area, they don't give a rats rear that Heidi Klum is wearing a pair of bright red glasses with bling, they want good solid products that will hold up.

Ok work vent over, thanks.

I'm off to get my workout done. Today is weight day. I'm doing a unique routine and it seems to be working pretty well. I walk first and I'm loose and hot when I'm done. Then I do one set of each exercise with all the weight I can do for 10 reps. I move from exercise to exercise with no rest between but using a different body part. Then I do my calistetics and stretching or pool running and stretching in the pool.

Who is doing ToT in Oct?

Leaner Panda:hippie:

Me too, me too (and BIL and SIL)

Jeanne: Love the enthusiasm.

Back to lurkdom...:tiptoe:

BTW, you are SO right about the Heidi Klum thing. Eyeglasses are so expensive nowadays, we just want a decent pair at a reasonable cost. I wouldn't have the foggiest clue how to tell a designer frame from a stock item and I think most people are the same.

I watched that naked show last night.......not really my cup of tea. Carson Kressley is super annoying....and that cheesey cable car.......give me a break! The woman in question was very young (28) and should not have been the last bit concerned about her body image. I would like to see someone like me on the show and see how that turns out. I will admit the nude photos were just awesome....very tastefully done and she looked like a real knockout. I have it programmed to record on my DVR....maybe i'll just watch the beginning and the end and fast forward through all the fluff!

No exercise today...waiting for a contractor. One of our sprinkler heads blew and we had a geyser on our front lawn. Always something.....

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning guys!!!! So, I am happy to report I got in W3D1 last night! At 8:30 pm I may add. I didn't make it to the gym to swim, but at least I got in my C25K. Yay! DH and I did have quick chat about how my fitness need to become a priority again. Other things can't keep getting in the way.

The schedule I hope to start and keep for training through for the 1/2 is

Monday: Bike w/ group at bike store here in Cary (Got to get the bike first though...)

Tuesday AM: C25K (then it will go the 1/2 Plan...30/40/50 min as it progresses)

Wednesday: Swim (These are the days Matt sometimes has a Dr appt in Wilson. On these weeks, I will bike in Wilson and Swim on Mondays

Thursday AM: C25K (then it will go the 1/2 Plan...30/40/50 min as it progresses)

Friday: Bike after work in Cary

Saturday: Rest or Swim or Bike

Sunday: C25K then 1/2 Marathon training will be Long R/W

I asked on the Team Thread for some suggestions for increasing the mileage on the LR and this is what I've decided to do, which matches Amy too.
3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 4, 8, 6, 10, 8, 12, 8, 5

Lisa... Is there any benenfit to working out w/ weights once a week? Say for instance, I want to Leg Press or something of that effect for my legs, but I can only make it to the gym once a week to use the machines. Is it even worth it? :wizard: for your race this weekend! I hope you have a great time!!!

Debra...So my August goal is to stick to the above plan! Well, the biking may have to give a bit because I don't think any bike store will have bike until Aug 11. grrr. That thing is so popular! Sold out everywhere. I don't know that I could do academic small talk. I'm not that smart!

Amy...How do you like Week 3? I think it is my FAV!!! I love the 90/90 sec then 3/3 min.

Dave...I am NOT doing ToT! I would love too. There are so many Disney races and not enough Time or Money!

Howard...Yeah...What Jeanne said! lol! Looking great! Cammy too. She is such a rock star!

Jeanne...I watched the Randy Pausch special too. I was in tears too. What a great contribution he made!!! What do you know about volunteering for the City of Oaks? Do they need volunteers?

Beth...Thanks for the kind words!

Mike, Jeff:

Vic...Where's Vic? Where's Lisa?

Tracey, Connie, Maria, Wendy, Who'd I miss? I know I always miss a few... Hope all are well!!!

Have a great day y'all!!!
Stacie

Stacie: First up, I like your plan and your goal to stick with said plan. Best of luck with that!! :thumbsup2

Lifting weights once a week will probably not benefit you much with strength or endurance. You could get by with twice a week and gain maintenance but you will not advance with strength or endurance, much. During race season, I lift twice a week. In the off season, I go to 3-4 times a week and really ramp up my pounds (weights not weight!!). Currently I am twice a week and I really do not lift legs except for squats, they get enough work on their own!!

I hope that answers your question. Fling out any others that you have and I will try to help as much as I can. You could get into a Pilates/weight type routine and maybe AmyBeth can let you know about how often you would have to do that type of routine to see gains/maintenance.

Rock on!!!! :cool2:

Stacie: City of Oaks is a REALLY nice event. You may even consider doing it.
If you go to the website, I'm sure there is something about volunteering or perhaps you just contact an administrator. I know Jackie (mousedogmom) volunteered last year, but she was originally supposed to run and was nursing an injury so couldn't do it. She was stationed at one of the higher stops so those of us just doing the half never saw her. City of Oaks is a relatively small event (4,000 entrants) that is very well organized. They had great food (including free beer!) at the finish line and a nice little expo the day before. It's also the course I got my best time on (3:01:xx). I know the full is very tough but they have redesigned the course this year to make it a little bit easier. We begin and end at NCSU instead of the fairgrounds. Last year, the last 2 miles were completely around the RBC center and it was a killer. It looks like this year the race is pretty much an out-n-back on Hillsborough Rd.
Check it out and come join us! Wendy (bless her heart) has signed up for the full and Jackie will be doing the half. You know you want to join us. :thumbsup2

Thanks Lisa! I was just wondering if I need to try to build some strength in my lower body to perpare for those 13.1 miles. I just don't know how often I can get to the gym. I am really going to try to stick w/ my PT exercises too to help my hips. I've not been getting those physical activity breaks in at work like I wanted, so maybe I need to resign myself to do some lunges or squats a few times a day and that will help the lower body as well. I really want this 1/2 to be a good experience and I want to do what I can to prepare well for it (but not over-do it or burn myself out.) My goal is to finish. I do not care so much about my time, but I want to finish strong.

Thanks Jeanne! I will check out the website. I was thinking of maybe volunteering if my schedule will allow. I don't think I can participate this year, but if the 1/2 in January goes well, maybe next year, I can add it my list.

Today I was the Power Panda!!!!

Some days you feel frog flipping awesome and today was one of those days. Woke feeling refreshed and well rested. Got off to the gym and since it was pouring rain I had to walk on the treadmill. I was just going to do a couple of easy miles to warm up and then hit the weights.

Well after a mile walking at 15 mpm pace, I started feeling like I needed more, I did the next mile at 12 mpm and the next mile at 10:54 pace and the last .1 mile of the 5K I sprinted at 9:13 mpm pace. Then a lap to cool down and off to the weight room.

I had a great upper body workout. This time I did a set of the heaviest weight I could work with the kept doing the same exercise but dropping 5 pounds each set, total 4 sets for each body part with no rest in between. Yhen some ab work and stretching.

The music on the TV Videos were awesome. I saw a new video for the ***** Cat Dolls "When I grow up", it's wicked good, gotta get that for the iPod.

Stacie, having a plan is an awesome way to achieve your goals. Go Stacie!!!

Lisa I think we need to have a weight training thread after you come back, like a talk show type format with you fielding questions and WISHers who are doing well with their routines can share. We haven't gone there and it's important.

Jeanne, I don't watch the reality TV stuff but that sounds interesting. I wish they would do a biggest loser type thing without all the voting people off crap.

Amy, Howard, Debra, Vic everyone Have an awesome day y'all.

Power Panda:hippie:

Good Morning Lean Meaners!

I've been doing alot of thinking about how I can make fitness a priority. I am a Flybaby, and I follow my routine pretty religiously. The problem is, workouts aren't in the routine. So, I'm adding a morning workout and after work workout each day. I'm also going back to changing it up a bit, adding in the exercise bike and weights. I think I'm just bored with wogging, and I need some variety. I'm also signing up for a yoga class being offered at work in the fall. It's once a week for an hour. I'm hoping I'll learn some new ways to stretch and build flexibility. :thumbsup2

Dave -- What an awesome day you are having!:cool1: I am envious! I did also get off to a good start, pretty much by accident. DH had to drop me at work very early this morning. I could have started working, but as I was all alone, I did laps around my floor for an hour until a co-worker showed up (yes, this one's not an irker). It was fast walking, so at least I fell like I've done something today!

Stacie -- dh is a runner, and last year he was able to run until mile 9 of the Half, and then had to slow down because he was lacking leg strength. He's been going to the gym every other day and doing Nautilus becasue he wants to run the entire Half this time. :goodvibes Just his experience...he still finished in under 3 hours.

Jeanne -- I am also not a Carson Kressley fan. I think I'd probably be annoyed by him. I liked the Tim Gunn show, but I couldn't stand that supermodel. :rolleyes1

Lisa -- Good to see you, even if you are :tiptoe:. We miss your wisdom, but we understand!

Amykab -- I totally sympathize with your work woes. It's hard to fight that...my biggest irker has the day off today, so it's much more quiet and peaceful. This moron listens to all his voicemail on speaker, and also talks to his 2-yr old that way. I am a mother and I love kids, but c'mon, I don't need to hear all about her successes and failures with the porcelain throne in technicolor detail. :scared1:

Howard -- :worship: I bow before your speediness!

Debra -- Sounds like you are hot and listless -- the weather will do that. Oh wait, maybe that's just the cougar coming out! :cool2: I have also waited to read the Twilight books, because I want to read them all at once. Have you read Diana Gabaldon? It is literally years between her books, but they are so good, you just have to keep reading them.

Mike -- So sorry your running conditions are yucky! It seems worse when you are such a committed athlete. I'll be hoping a cold front pushes through soon! :cold:

Beth -- Yesterday I had a vegetarian day! I had my usual smoothie for breakfast, a hummus and veggie wrap for lunch, and bean burritos for dinner. My snakcs were fruit and cheese, not meat passed my lips yesterday. ::yes::

A big shout out to Connie, Wendy, Vic, Bill, Cindy, Amybeth, Tracey, Jeff, and all the lurking Lean Meaners! :dance3:

Let's have an awesome day!
Maria

Hi Everyone!

Stacie That's great that you got C25K in!! :cool1: :cheer2: I totally
 W3! I felt so good doing those intervals last night that I added an extra set! W4 on the other hand looks a little scary :scared1: :scared1:

Maria Voicemail on speakerphone and potty training talk?? :scared1: :scared1: I think it would so much fun to be able to read twilight all at once. Like I told Debra, I about cried last year when I found out I'd have to wait a year for this next book! From what I have read, I know for sure that she has almost completed writing a 5th book that will be a companion book to the first book, just in a different point of view. (it will make sense why she is doing that once you read the books). She is also talking about continuing the series, but using other characters as the main point of view and telling their story. Also, the second book is frustrating up until a certain point, but you just need to stick with it.

Dave I am in for TOT! :woohoo: :woohoo:

This is the first time in 5 years since I have been at this job that I truly hate being here. I don't like that feeling at all. We have a plan in the works to get me out, but it is just going to take a few months. ( if I don't get laid off before then).

Anyhow, to everyone! Have a great day!

Maria: Way to go! You actually reported a successful Wagon Tip day! I am glad to get that kind of feed back. Sometimes I feel a little silly giving pretty predictable tips to you all......just trying to stay motivated myself! WTG on the vegetarian day!

A general shout out to all of you Lean Meaner!!!!  I am on the way to the dentist with the boys!

Beth

Howard: Awww, shucks! I'd love to meet you and Howard if you come out visiting this way. I told Cam on her journal that I think I have a couples crush on you two. Actually, it's one of the things I so admire about my WISHmates. So many loving couples who share in their fitness journeys together. (You and Erica rock, too, Dave!) But I'm going to tsk, tsk you for running on empty. Skipping lunch would make me mean, but I don't think I would run without the fueling. And you know you shouldn't do so either. :rolleyes1 (Of course, your success in doing so probably doesn't help the lesson hit home, huh?) Oh, and what Jeanne said. :rotfl2:

AmyK: I really like your suggestions to Stacie. Making a plan does make it easy to make changes and stay active, I think. Maybe it's the mindset or sense of accountability. I know I feel better if I just write out a to-do list each night before I go to sleep, and planning my day would probably work even better! :thumbsup2 I'm so sorry that you're in a work environment where preferential treatment is given, especially for such reasons. It's one thing to give a new colleague opportunities to gain experience, it's another to do so for sexist reasons. And double-grr for having to skip pilates for work you're not enjoying. (Yay for having an exit strategy, though!)

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Twilight once I start reading them, too. I promise to make my thoughts short (really I do, Jeanne and Maria. :lmao:). I understand that Entertainment Weekly has published a spoiler on the next novel, so be careful of what you read out in cyberspace if you don't want to know details. I'm also looking forward to hearing your DH's reactions to The Dark Knight.

Finally, that's great news on completing C25K and adding extra intervals AND a long cool-down period. Nice pace and you're keeping your muscles limber.

Jeanne: I know we're responding cross-thread, and I try not to do that, but does your DS have any film recommendations? I figure he's got some esoteric choices given his profession. You, too, btw, because anyone who likes Memento has got the cool-cred that I so love to bestow on people! :cool2: You obviously already had cool-cred, but I'll bestow it on your tenfold anyway! :wizard:

And if you don't like the Naked show it must need some tweaking. It does sound cool in concept, and I can't think of any woman I know who doesn't have some issues with her body, but a wide range of women would be helpful. I don't think I know Carson Kressley?? Good luck waiting on your contractor....don't wear a watch. :rotfl:

Dave: Good luck with your work day with the lofty-minded, abstract thinkers that some people call bosses and which I call pains in the pirate booty! pirate: Nothing wrong with good, solid products, IMO. Great news on your frog flipping awesome WO today. We all deserve those!

And I am still in for ToT as far as I know, even though we're still waiting until mid-August to book and register. By then, we should know DOOD's tenure/promotion schedule and whether his university faculty will be filing a grievance on working conditions. And whether my position this fall has been green-lighted. If not, I think we'll still do ToT, but the schedule and budget changes. I look forward to meeting everyone there!

Lisa: I hope lurkdom is a happy place (rather than lonely).... I didn't know how maintenance 2x/week strength training maintenance is! Dang. I'm training for my marathon now--extra long--and I'd like to increase my strength. Do you think I could add another day in without harm, at least while my mileage is low? (That is, assuming I can find the time.)

Stacie: You rock, girl! Great job on doing C25K so late at night. And it sounds like you're going to get a bike. Another bit of good news. I know you know you deserve it (as does Matt), but it's still nice to hear you've made the decision. What bike are you getting? (P.S. I'm sure you could do academic small talk--it's just like office small talk, filled with gossip and complaints about the bosses. I'm not saying that's what YOU do, just that there's not that much differences between the academic and corporate worlds.)

Maria: I'm so proud of myself--I know what a Flybaby is! :woohoo: (Not that my house would show that.) Good job thinking about what you need to do--and it sounds like mixing things up is just the ticket. Nancy (paDisney fan) has been doing that too. And congratulations for time well-spent on your hour before work. That nasty work will always be there waiting for you, so you might as well get your steps in. (And luckily, your co-irker isn't always there for you, as he offers me a whole new perspective on potty mouth. :scared1: ) And :woohoo: for embracing Beth's suggestion and having a vegetarian day; you take after my own taste buds!

You're absolutely right, my inner cougar has come out to stretch and sleep whenever possible; my feline self has earned the luxury, I say. Never read Diana Gabaldon, but she sounds like an exercise in patience and good for my soul. I'm a series book-reading binger, I am! I'm really trying to catch up on popular stuff, as much of my reading tends to be...well...work-related.

Beth: Your wagon tips are ALWAYS appreciated. I'll try to report back on them more often. :yay: Good luck with today's dentist appointment!

Yo, Lean Meaners! Grrrr--go get 'em today! Conquer those hills, gnaw on those veggies, throw caution to the wind. And have a great day! :goodvibes

As for me: A slow running day for me, deliberately taking it easy after yesterday's run. Back-to-back running is a challenge for me, as the 2nd day usually reminds me that I have a cranky right knee. I've started to add more stretching to my post-run cool-down because that helps. I know that some of you stretch as part of your pre-run routine. For the most part, I just walk until I feel limber enough to run. What exercises do you do?

Debra: my son is a big David Lynch fan. A few years ago his favorite movie was Lost Highway...also Mulholland Drive and what was his other big one? Personally, I think DL is just a tad too over the top for me. I never fully "get it" .....we're probably not supposed to, but I like things wrapped up in nice little packages and my son, the filmie doesn't. He also loves the Saw movies which I have never seen because I don't like violence and gore. Some others I can recall:City of the Lost Children, Pan's Labyrinth, Magnolia, the Orphanage, anything Star Wars (of course!) and a whole bunch of others the titles of which have escaped me right now.
BTW, Carson Kressley is the blonde, very flamboyant member of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." I'm SURE you know who he is now!

Maria: too funny about the potty talk on speaker phone! Which reminds me.....the Greek gets a little upset with my daughter because, at 24, she still says I have to "go potty." Well, I was not aware of this beforehand, but we were in a Detroit casino together and all of a sudden I said "I'll be right back....I have to go potty." He gave me such a look I thought for sure the wedding was off! At least now he knows it's not HER fault. :rotfl:

Dave/Erica: just listening to my Jakob Dylan CD.......there's one song that makes me think of you two everytime I hear it. It's called "Something Good This Way Comes" Are you familiar with it?

Hey Lean Mean Running & Walking Team. Hey Stacie

Sorry, duplicated from the weekly thread...
Today's shout-outs go to Racey Tracy and Aloha Jeff. Because it feels weird not to read posts about their training. Maybe they've already left for DL and a little intense 1/2 training on site? If so, I hope they're both enjoying some Mickey ice-cream bars :mickeybar or Dole Whip. (With Ms. Duckie, of course!)

Aloooooooohaaaaaaa!!!

I think you flipped the calendar too early there Debraoni. The half is next month on 8/31/08, not this week. :lmao: Unless I can run on water, there is no way I'm swimming that far. Did you all read there is a new land at Disney, it's called Shakingland. :rotfl2:

I took me a day off from running on Tuesday, giving the minor plantiar faciitis a break. Well, errr, Guru Les is sick too. And since he's still battling his cold, I'll take today off as well.

However, my cross training tonight is going night reef walking near Kualoa Ranch, in search of spearing some octopus (night tako). We're headed out for beach camping this weekend again on the North Shore, and we need bait in hopes of catching some more fish out of the blue Pacific ocean.

I suppose on Saturday, we can make a stop at Dole Plantation, and have a Dole Whip in honor of everyone's training. And I guess I'll have to take my camera with me to post the photo of the Princesses, as proof of the delicious treats. :rolleyes1

Yesterday (RACEY TRACY are you reading this?) I took 3.25 hours off for Princess #2's kindergarten parent orientation. Following that, I headed into work to get some stuff done. Since the Queen had her own open house at her school, I had to head back to Princess #1's open house. Oh, and throw in running the flag ceremony for the PTSA meeting with my Girl Scout troop. Pheew, was I exhaused at the end of the night, there was no energy to check in with my WISH family. Sorry everyone.

I recommend not taking any Alieve, Tylenol, or any other pain killers before going out on a run. Masking an injury will only make it worse. You need to rest if your hurt, period. Taking anti-inflammatories is okay after working out, not before.

Hope you're all having a great day. Good training, and don't overtrain if your nursing an injury.

Shout outs to everyone!;)

I asked, and I received...

Just got my email (7/31/08) to print my race waiver for the half marathon. :cool1:

It looks like one waiver for all race weekend events.
