Becoming Lean, Mean, Endurace Event Machines in 2008

Good late morning Lean Meaners. Wow, 2 people on ahead of me, I must be falling off the wagon!!

Debra: Are you being featured in the soon to be released pilates video by AmyBeth that Bill is busy doing the legals on? :rotfl:

Connie: Such wise advice so early in the morning? Must be the taper madness or is that semi-taper madness?

Amykab: :( we really want you at ToT. Best of luck to DH!! ::yes::

Beth: Love the tip for today. I would never think to just bag it up before the meal. I am a picker so it would definitely save by butt!! Literally!! :lmao:

Hmm, I must be in a sarcastic mood this morning. Maybe I should not sleep in on my day off..... I have already had my day disrupted by DD13 calling sick from school. Missed my gym time, now I am working, after this I am taking a really long bike ride. I am hoping for at least 15 miles but it is going to be hot again today and I will have to see how my hydration and ambition hold out. After that, groceries and baking for the remainder of the afternoon. Lucky me.

To all the Lean Meaners lurking in the distance, come on in, we don't bite....much....really...give us a shout out so we at least know you are there still!! Have a great day everyone!!! :goodvibes

Hi Everyone,

Work and Life are so busy now. I'm hoping things will slow down soon, but until then I won't have a lot of DIS time.

Beth: Thanks for the planning tip. I love the weeks where I have dinner planned, especially if it's crock pot recipes. It makes my night go much smoother.

Amykab: Amybeth suggested Pilates for Dummies as a good DVD. I bought it and tried it once. It was pretty good, I need to be more diligent about doing it.

Stacie: Good luck with your race this weekend.

Wendy: Good job with your streak!!

Lisa: Good job with your workout yesterday. Even if it wasn't as long as you would have liked, every bit counts. Great job on limiting yourself to the FF/SF ice cream. I do appreciate the days when will power is a bit easier to come by.

Debra: I'm glad you got to the store to stock up on healthy food. I hope you'll have an easier time this week getting into a routine. Workouts inside (work-ins?) are just as commendable as workouts outside.

Maria: I'm glad your running routine is feeling good. Great job on shaving a minute off your time.

Dave: Glad you enjoyed the movie.

My streak of counting pts and earning exercise pts every day is now at 10. I weighed in at WW on Sunday and had only lost 0.8 lbs. At first I was disappointed that an entire week of being "good" only netted a 0.8 lb loss, but then I tried on a pair of shorts that were snug during the Minnie weekend and now I had to wear a belt. I guess things are just firming up a bit. And if I lose 0.8 lbs each week in June it will put me at a weight I haven't seen since 1994, so I guess I just need to keep at it. The next few weeks will be very challenging since I'm going to end of the year awards ceremonies and pizza parties and Graduation parties. I'm going to have to really work at planning ahead.

Better get back to work.
Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Hey Lean Meaners!

Yesterday I did 8 miles on the bike before work. Today I plan to wog 4 when I get home. I'm hoping it's cooled down a bit by then

I'm eating better in spite of myself. It's just so warm, I don't want alot of treats. I reach for the fruit first, and then I'm full. I'm hoping this continues!

Cindy -- It is so true that the scale is not the only measure of success! Looser clothes are also pretty rewarding! I know you can make and follow through on your plans, you will do a great job! :thumbsup2

Lisa -- I'm proud of you for getting out in this heat. We are just not used to it being this warm, and you are rising to the occasion! Bake something yummy for us! :cutie:

Connie -- We need to remember to enjoy ourselves on the journey. I've heard a rumor you learn more that way :hippie:

Beth -- You are so right about the restaurant meals. It's always more food than you can possibly eat, and if it's there I will pick at it. Thanks for the great tip! :goodvibes

Amykab -- Best of luck to DH! I hope it all works out as it is supposed to! ::yes:: Do not tell the newly-turned 40 person you feel old -- now I'm going to have to feel ancient!

Debra -- Enjoy the decorating. That's what I call it when I unpack, because it's more about placement than how much leaves the box...:rolleyes1
Stacie -- Are you ready for your race? I know you are going to have a fantastic time! :lovestruc

Tracey -- How are you? Are you enjoying having the kids home? popcorn::

Wendy -- Babysteps are the best way to go! ::yes:: So glad ds is on the mend!

Jeanne -- Could you have one more thing in the next few months? You are one busy woman, I hope you have a few minutes for yourself with everything going on!

Dave -- Soon you and Erica will be racing together again! It's a good thing she uses her powers for good (as all princesses should!) :bride:

Vic, Bill, AmyBeth, Mike -- :surfweb: Hope all your net travels are pleasant!

Maria

Good morning guys.

It was cooler this morning so I decided it was time for me to add LSD training to my weekly routine. So I had a wonderfull 8 miler, total time was 1:41:46 for a pace of high 12s. It was very pleasent and I really enjoyed it.

Hi Maria, Cindy and Lisa, you guys are up and at em early today.

Everyone have an awesome day.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Oh...Did I mention that I found out last night that Matt's Mom AND Dad both decided to sign up the 5K this Saturday too! I can't believe it. His mom has chronic pain and is in bed most of the time. My SIL said that she mentioned she can do 3 miles in 45 min on the TM...so we'll see. I hope she manages ok! I think it's great they decided to sign up, but I just worry for her.

Wow, Stacie, you're gonna have a whole crew there! I hope we can hook up. I'll definitely be in my WISH shirt and pink cheshire cat visor -- which doesn't match either, so we'll be a pair, won't we? :rotfl:

Stacie, Wendy: I'll be with you guys in spirit! I wish I could be there, but I'm entertaining that evening and I am never organized enough to be ready ahead of time. Wendy: sending pixie dust that Angus will be able to walk with you!

WOW...Have I been busy! Sorry I've abandoned the dis here for a week or so, but total LTO with end of school year activities, work, training, certifications, softball (which NEVER ends) etc etc etc. So dising...and computer time in general...has been seriously cut short. I'll do my best to catch up with you guys here...but I'll apologize in advance for anyone I've missed ...

Maria: Great job on getting those 8 miles in on the bike! Sending a big ole' WOO HOO your way! :cool1: Hope your 4 miler goes well today!

Cindy: WTG on your 10-day streak! Commitment and will power are key to success and you have BOTH. Nicely done :).

Lisa: Love your plans for the 15 Miler on the bike!!! Nice! Bill is working on the legals for my Pilates vid? Cool!!! How is your PT cert coming along? Give me the dirt...is it a LOT of work?

Steff: :goodvibes Good luck on that 10K this weekend...kick some booty!

AmyK: Sorry about the ToT change or possible cancellation. Here's sending some good vibes your way that everything works out for the best all around. :goodvibes

Stacie: You ALWAYS look cute as can be...so no matter what you put together for your 5K I just KNOW you'll look awesome girl! Sending some PD to your MIL...hoping she has an awesome experience in the 5K!

Wendy: I love your commitment to 30 minutes per day!! WTG and best of luck on the race this weekend!!! LOVE your Chershire cat hat BTW...always brings a smile to my face :).

K...I know I missed a BUNCH of you...Debra, Vic, Bill, and all the other Meaners out there.... .

As for moi...although being busy I've managed to keep my workouts on schedule :). I'm very happy about that! Today I got my butt out of bed at 6:30 am for a run. I intended on 4 miles...but had to cut it short and only did 3. Afterwards I went and taught a Pilates class. I also worked on the format for my spin class that I'm teaching tomorrow so was on the bike for a good long time. It feels weird to be totally done with all y workouts so early in the day....but it's a GOOD weird LOL! My run this morning was SUPER slow...I think I was still half asleep :confused3 .

Good Day All! So...I had my Physical Therapy today. Overall it went well. Gus gave me 3 strengthening exercises to workout and 3 stretches. I really think I will learn a lot and it will help me train smart. I hope to get my muscles all balanced out and be good shape w/ Half Marathon training starts in Sep.

Amy...Yay! You're back! Missed you!!! How cool you are all done w/ your training for today. I hope to may take a spinning class at my gym one day if I can work the schedule out.

Wendy...Yep. Hope to see you Saturday. I have your number and I'll be in WISH green too.

Dave...yay for a good 8 miler! Temps are still pretty warm here. Only 98 today. Looks like it might make it to the lower 90s by the end of the week though.

Maria...Great job staying on track with your eating and your training. Lookin good! I'm still struggling w/the eating, but I'm feeling good getting back on track with my workouts. Keep it up girl!

Cindy...I'd say you had a great non-scale victory. .8 IS a loss and your shorts being too big! That's great! Yay!

Lisa...Hope your bike ride went well and your survived the heat!

Amykab... Pilates for Dummies is a great Pilates DVD. Check it out if you have the chance. I have it. I just have trouble finding the time to do it.

Beth...Great wagon tip! I normally try to share w/ DH, but I will try to remember your tip next time I order my own.

Connie...Good Luck on your 10K this weekend! Have fun!

Vic, Bill, Deb...:wave2:

Have a great afternoon!!!
Stacie

Dave: I love animated films, so you know I'm going to see Kung Fu Panda. I saw Young at Heart yesterday, the documentary about a bunch of 70-80 year-olds singing arrangements of punk and rock covers. It was heart-warming; I laughed, cried. But Kung Fu Panda is near and dear to my heart for some reason, so that's a MUST SEE. I've been trying to stick with early a.m. workouts and I agree, they give you more me time. I just need to remember that. And congratulations on your LSD and fabulous time!! Amazing!

Love the story about the chocolate lab. Erica's a very strong princess, and I bet you the chocolate lab takes right after her.

Lisa, Beth: I burn easily but never had to worry about it in my younger, non-athletic days. I was a artsy goth in my earlier years, with a late-night loving lifestyle and a general disdain for sweating. Now, though, it's lots and lots of sunscreen. And I'm always shocked at how much they recommend you put on--I apply no where near that much, so I always try to compensate with really high SPF with UVA/B.

Lisa: You've been getting in some great WOs, even with the occasional interruption, and it sounds like I'll need to try the Accelerade + whey once my miles get up there again. Congrats on the willpower with the SF/FF ice cream; I tend to go for the full sugar/fat when I eat it. I can't believe you're already planning for ToT; we're so far behind in this household....

I can just see you in a cute little Vespa, very Euro. Maybe a touch of Audrey Hepburn. And for some reason I picture your DH on a Harley, Easy Rider style. Oh, and I hope your DD's illness is minor. When do the kids get out of school, anyway? I'm always confused because of living a college-semester calendar.

Stacie: Aquaboxing sounds like an excellent WO! And I know ho much you like your aquacising, so it's a good reward and/or substitute for doing C25K. Yeah for the family doing this weekend's 5K with you; I love that it's a whole family thing. You're an enabler in the best sense! Ooooh, and pink and green--very prepster of you. It'll look great on the course. I'm looking forward to how the exercises Gus Gus gives you works out. Keep us updated on the PT.

Wendy: I love the positive thoughts with the "just a little further" instead of the self-defeating ones. No wonder you're on a streak. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for DS and RftC (and no pain, more importantly). I hope you and Stacie get to hook up (ditto to Stacie).

Beth: I'm not a computer expert by any means, but am willing to figure things out and can usually do so. It just frustrates me when IT people talk down to me, or talk reaaaaalllly slooowwwwly. Hey, IT folk: you saying things slowly didn't make your techno-babble any more comprehensible to me. I'm so on the portion our your meals tip; it works for home cooking, too. Since I'm living single but still cooking, I put the leftovers in single-serving portions as I dish out my meal. Otherwise it's nibble, nibble, nibble.

Amykab: Yeah for the WO and all that tasty water, too! I hope that your DH gets his new job AND that you can do ToT! Not that I'm greedy on your behalf or anything. Another rec for Pilates for Dummies & the Yoga for Dummies ain't half bad either, if you're new to yoga.

Connie: And here's to the journey! :thumbsup2 I hope your forced taper before your 10K results in a great race.

Cindy: Work-ins! Love it. I need to get my workout in. I need to work-in today. I think I'm adopting that work. So useful. 10 days of counting points. Fabulous! Plus you've lost weight--although I know the frustration at the number--and you need a belt for your shorts that were snug a VERY short time ago. You're setting your goals and accomplishing them! :woohoo:

Maria: I think it's terrific that you're finding some positive effects to the heat. Your body know that healthy eating habits are better in this weather. And wow, that's a lot of miles for today! Great job! P.S. Remember, we're not old....we're vintage. Oh so cool, oh so collectible.

Amy: So glad to see you back. And it's even better news that you've been handling all the LTO stuff with such grace, keeping up with the important things. Just curious--when you're setting up your format for a class, say a 60 minute one, how long does it take you to get it ready for the public? And how often do you tweak it? Truly, I'm just curious about such things as I imagine it's like any form of teaching--you're always tweaking something or another.

As for me: Frak, frak, frak! (That's for all you Battlestar Galactica fans.) Last night I was drilling some holes to hang some stuff. I overreached and fell off my stepladder. I ended up with a bruised leg, a twisted knee, and a little bit of pain. Frak. So I took a RICE day, with no WOs or rearranging of furniture or stepladder scenarios, and we'll see what tomorrow holds. Mostly, I'm annoyed at myself because I wasn't being safety smart and I KNOW I'm a huge klutz.

Oh Debra, I'm so sorry! Hope you're better soon. I'm a charter member of the Klutz Club myself -- even know the secret handshake!

Thanks to Cindy, Jeanne, Amy, Debra, (and the others I've missed) for all the encouraging words from everyone -- especially about my son. He has been running around like a mad-man since the boot came off. It's tough to get him to grasp the concept of "taking it easy," especially after being confined to walking in that clunky boot for a while. I think he will leave me in the dust on Saturday.

Last night I took a few hours to put all the required mileage for my Disneyland Half marathon training on my calendar. I was encouraged to see that without really trying I am right on track for the Penguin's MfM plan (which doesn't require as many miles as the Higdon plan I've used in my fitter days). The excitement of my little streak and the reasonableness of that training approach has been very encouraging. I have always found that building on small successes works better for me than chastizing and berating myself. I know some folks need that stern Drill Sargeant self-talk, but as a natural born people-pleaser, if I get down on myself, my first reaction is to focus on my failings and give up. I suppose, like training, everyone has to find the (mental) method that works for them.

I've added a few more carbs into my diet plan. I'm narrowing down on that June 20th blood test and I don't want to get carried away.

Cindy, like you, I've been a little frustrated with my body's refusal to cooperate with my weight loss plans. My nutritionist reminds me that my body has to "be ready" to let go of the fat -- and that progress is not always in a straight line. (I bite my tongue when I want to say, "Well, it's always in a straight line when it's on the way UP!!!" :rotfl: )

Gotta go. Treadmill and work await.

Good morning Lean Meaners!! :goodvibes I just typed out an entire response to everyone and it went into the black whole of cyberspace. So, here I go again:

Wendy: Goodness, you are up and at it early this morning, or I am slacking off, one or the other. I will go with the first one cuz it makes us both look better!! :lmao: Glad to hear DS is back to "normal". I cannot imagine my DS having to be still for 5 minutes unless he is asleep. ;) Also congrats on unintentionally staying on track with you MfM plan. I have used it so much, I think it is burned in my brain which is why I switched it up with the RW plan. The other day, I was supposed to do 6 but it would normally have been a 5 day for MfM and that is what I did. See, burned in my brain...

Debra: Over-coordinated...that is what DH calls it. He says he is not clumsy, he is over-coordinated and that causes all his mishaps. He can trip on a blade of grass. But at least he can laugh about it!! I am so sorry that you got hurt though and I think frak was not probably what you said cuz it is not what I would have said. :listen: Get better soon!! :wizard: My kidlets are out next Tuesday because we went over on our snow days (shocker). They are not very happy about having to go until the 17th this year.

AmyBeth: Glad to have you back!! I thought you and Bill hijaked the wagon and Debra somehow came along for the ride!!! It is nice to have your :goodvibes back with us again! The PT is not too bad, a lot of repetition for me with muscles, joints, ligaments, etcetera. Anatomy class was one of my faves so this is just repeat for me. Also how to use the machines properly and such. Things we just know from being gym rats but if I don't go over it, I won't answer properly. I am about a month in and halfway done. After I obtain the ISSA, I am going to get ACE certified. They carry the same weight but I always preferred the ACE, they just offer a test though, not the refresher course. I also need to update my CPR. Lucky me I am BCLS certified so it is a little harder to find a course not offered in the hospital.

Stacie: Glad to see the rehab is going well. I am part of the USATF study on stretching and in the non-stretcher group. I feel like a violin string most of the time. I cannot add any new stretching in and cannot stretch before my workouts. I am a little tight and starting to feel it. My post-run and morning stretches have become very important to me. Good luck with the strengthening and balance but remember to stretchy stretch stretch too. I am learning how valuable this really is!!!! ::yes::

Dave: You are rockin your workouts lately. Walking in the 12s...you amaze me. :worship: Some days I can only run in the 12s!!! It can't be that Erica is chasing you....yet....so it must be the dog thing....:rotfl: Keep up the great work!

Beth: Anxiously anticipating the wagon tip for the day. I was laying on the couch last night doing my PT work and DD13 says "mom you got sunburned today". Hello duh. I forgot to put sunscreen on my arms when I went for my ride today. On my face, neck, ears, back, legs, not my arms. What was I thinking...well apparently I was not. Now I have a short-sleeve sunburn to go into the softball tourney weekend with...  :furious: I need to listen better to your tips!! :listen:

Everyone else: A big howdy to everyone.

From the Great North Woods, I said I was going for a long bike ride and even though my plans got a little askew yesterday, I did manage to get out there and ride. I went 21.3 miles in 1:51 which really shocked me. It was really windy and really hilly and I did not think I was pedaling that fast but maybe I am finally learning when and why to shift down/up. That would be a miracle for me. :) DD rallied in the afternoon and managed to go to softball practice. Her illness is not just short-lived but monthly (;) ) and she does not handle it well. I convinced her that exercising makes me feel better and she tried it. She is much like her mom and after a little running during practice, she came back to her normal self. :thumbsup2 My eating was really good yesterday and with the calories I burned on my ride (1065) I managed to drop some of the water I was retaining in a good way. My quads are a little sore today but I am proud of myself for even striking out on such a long ride. A true testiment to how far I have come in 2 short years!! :woohoo: Today is an "easy run" so I will play it by ear, at least 3 but maybe more. DS6 has a game tonight and DD13 has gymnastics. More fun in the North Woods!! :rolleyes1

Have a great day Lean Meaners!! We are all doing really well with our June goals. It is almost time to start thinking of a July goal!!!

Good morning guys and pretty princesses.

My little pretty princess has her eye on a sexy little dress that she claims she is pounds away from doing justice to so that is giving her an extra bit of motivation to work hard and meet her goals.

When it comes to goals you have to be able to visualize where you want to be, you can't hit a target you can't see.

Arnold, once the driving force in the sport of body building had skinny calves, he had more trouble building muscle there than any other body part. So she cut the lower legs off his workout pants so that everytime he looked in the mirror he saw his skinny calves. Keeping his weak spots constantly in his focus helped him to remember that there was where he needed the work.

We can take a lesson away from that, if you had to keep your worse parts exposed for all to see would you work harder on them? Just a thought. I'm doing a little experiment like that myself that I'll report on when I've accomplished my personal goal. (get your mind out of the gutter Lisa).

Have a super day everyone.

Leaner Panda:hippie:

(get your mind out of the gutter Lisa).

Leaner Panda:hippie:

But....I thought that was what you counted on me for...:confused3 :bitelip:

I am all for exposing my shoulders as the spot I would want to work on (of course that was before my biking sunburn/farmers tan line) but as for exposing my belly to motivate me to work on my core...I just don't think I am ready to disgust the entire town I live in....yet....:lmao:

Morning Lean Meaners! Friday for me today. I work 9 hour days and get every other friday off! :woohoo:  :cool1:

4 miles total yesterday. Longest since the minnie and I am feeling it this morning. No pain, just kind of stiff. W3 C25K and for some unknown insane reason, I tacked about another 2 fast waslking miles after I completed the C25K intervals. The C25K intervals killed me. Running for 3 minutes seemed like forever. Right before Minnie and during the Minnie I was easily able to do 5 minute intervals in my comfort zone! I did not find my running legs yesterday. I may demote myself all the way back to week 1 or 2. I never totally completed C25K the last time and I think I may just need to start at the beginning. I also think I need to stop adding on distance after completing the intervals and keep the long run for another day.

Thanks for all the :goodvibes for DH's job interview. I truly believe that if we are meant to move at this time then everything will fall into place. What scares me most is having to sell a house in a less than stellar market and Packing/Unpacking :scared1: :scared1: I am currently in the process of purging stuff and organizing our house so that whenever we do move, it will be that much easier.

DH would be supportive of me doing a solo trip for TOT 13K if it came to that! :cool1: :woohoo: I looked at the registration last night and I didn't see any message about it being X % full or anything, so I figure I've got a bit of time.

Sorry to hear about your fall Debra! It sounds exactly like something I would do. Take care of yourself! :) :goodvibes

Thanks to everyone for the DVD recommendations! I plan on getting them soon.

Have a good day! :)

Amy good luck on the move and the new job for hubby. When I was in the Airforce I often had to move on short notice. Something that worked for me was to offer an extra $1000 dollars bonus for the salesperson that sold my house. I factored that into the price. Then the sales people had more motivation to show and sell mine. Last time I did that it went on the market on friday and was sold by monday.

I drove my route yesterday and it was 8.3 instead of 8 miles so my pace was 12:16 per mile and that's with the slower first warm up mile factored in. There are 4 serious hills on that route also. I'm pleased with that walk.

Today was just an hour of calistetics, stretching and pilates. I did all the ab work with weights.

Be strong dear friends.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Good Morning all! Today it was still hard to get out of bed, but not such a battle as it was Tuesday. I got 2 miles in 30 min... C25K W1D2. It was still really hot and humid this morning...Plus there is a wild fire/forest fire at the coast the winds have blown the smoke to this area so I also had to content w/ the smoke and the smell. I really hope all this smokiness is gone by Saturday!

Lisa... Great job on your bike ride. I would eventually like to get into the biking thing, but I'm a person of convenience and where I live, it's just not safe to jump on a bike and ride for 10 or 15 miles. I'm going to have to see if I can find a safer area in town where I won't get run over! What are all those certifications you were referring to? I've thought before that I would like to research more on becoming an instructor of some type. I think it help me stay motivated and healthy and I enjoy helping others. I enjoy Step Class and also my water classes. I've not spent much time looking into it yet, but if you have any knowledge you could share... :rolleyes1

Deb...RICE!!! So sorry to hear about your fall. I know it's frustrating when we do things like that. I'm not too terribly clumsy, but just the other night, I walked smack-dab into our bar. It put a hurt'in on my hand. It's like my brain wasn't even working! lol!

Dave...You're getting along excellent! I hate Hills! I know you attack them though! Good note on how we need to visualize! My ex VP who is now Group President used to preach that to me. You have visualize where we want to be. Don't say "I want to be a runner," Say "I AM a runner." Or whatever it is you want...to be Group President, a great golfer or whatever.

Stacie: ACE is the American Council on Exercise and ISSA is the International Sports Sciences Association. They are just 2 different personal trainer certifications you can get. They have programs for aerobic instructors, pilates instructors, etcetera. It looks better on your resume than "been lifting for x number of years" or "certified gym rat". lol. I know that the ISSA offers certification on water aerobics also and I am not sure about ACE. You would have to check that out. I think the next thing I want to be certified in is as an endurance trainer and then I will do the sports nutrition thing.

Amykab: Congrats on getting back to 4 miles. I took time off after my last half marathon and only ran 3 for a very long time. There is some soreness that comes with the higher mileage but it is a good soreness. Continued success!!!! :thumbsup2

Good evening Meaners. Long day......sorry to miss all of you! LTO today (again) and I was busy all day.

Lisa: Good job on the bike ride........I would love to be able to do that! You rock girlfriend!:cool1: Sorry to hear about the new 'burn'....I know, I need to listen to my own advice better too!

WWDave: Way to go on the POWER walk! You did it in great time, and enjoyed it too! Can't beat that with a stick!

Stacie: Way to go on the 2 miles, in the heat and humidity! Always a bad combo. Getting up and getting it done in the AM is great!

Debra: Be careful girlfriend......moving is a dangerous sport! How is the knee? Hope all is well!

I have been doing well with my eating, but am not be rewarded at the scale. I guess my body isn't ready to give up the winter flab! Sigh..... I will try to stay on the wagon anyway! I did get in 4 miles today on the treadmill. I didn't feel to bad with it either!

Wagon Tip of the Day: How about trying to get five different colors of fruit and veggies a day. The more 'colorful' your diet, the more vitamens and minerals ( and antioxidiants) you get! That is always a great benefit to athletes putting in the miles!

Awesome morning Lean Meaners!!! It is Friday, it is sunny and the temps are perfect for a run (70s). How could the day get any better????? Oh yeah, coming here for some friendly lean mean chat!! :goodvibes

Beth: Awesome tip. I would have run out by now. I was thinking about this one and I had an orange for breakfast, banana for snack, lettuce and tomato on my sandwich, apple for snack and peas and carrots for dinner. I think I covered everything!!! :woohoo: Wow, maybe I can actually follow a tip for a day, or more???!!!! I am really going to pay attention to the sunscreen one this weekend, I promise. Great job on the 4 TM miles. I know sometimes they are not easy!! :thumbsup2

Dave: Faster than before...:faint: I am going to have to start increasing my speed so I can keep up!!

Amykab: Continued :wizard: for DH. I did a solo trip to the world for the half marathon and I would do it again in a minute. It was actually kind of fun not being on someone elses schedule, having to pack everyone else and going on the rides that I wanted to go on!!! ::yes::

Stacie: I say lets all move closer and start a gym. You can teach the water aerobics, AmyBeth can handle the spin and pilates and I will do the weight programs. Dave can start an endurance walking class. Beth can patch ****oos and teach about consistency in training. Of course, Bill will handle all that legal junk. Anyone else want a job? See, that would solve all the job related issues, you can always workout to relieve the stress and we will all have such lenient schedules that we can keep up with the LTO issues!!! Ah, such a nice dream...:cloud9:

Wendy: Continued :wizard: to you for your blood test. I really hope that things turn out okay. You work so hard to stay healthy, there should be some reward in it!!

Everyone else: :listen: Eeeh, I can't hear you. Did you say somethin????

From the Great North Woods, I had a great run yesterday. I did my run and incorporated 8 x 10 second hill sprints in on the 2 large hills I had to negotiate. I still managed 3.12 miles in 31:06 which is a 9:58 mpm pace :woohoo: . Happy dance. I am hoping that I get to do the 5K on the 22nd as I believe I can do it in under 30 minutes which would be a miracle and show me that all my hard work has paid off. :yay: If not, I will run the 5K around the track at the Relay for Life and mark my time just for kicks. I ate really well yesterday and was rewarded again. I think all the water weight from my overheated weekend has finally started to dissipate. My hands and ankles swell in the heat, they have since I had DS. Here's hoping things are back to normal soon!! Today is 3-5 miles which I will wing again depending on how I feel. We have our first softball game of the tourney tonight at 5:30 in bugville USA (major bug spray necessary) and I hope they do well tonight so we don't have to be up early tomorrow. If I am up to it, bike ride tomorrow and then 5-10 miles on Sunday. Scheduling, scheduling, scheduling. I took last week off and I cannot afford that this weekend with the gains I have made. I would like to see the forward progress continue!! :thumbsup2

Have a great day Lean Meaners!!!
