Beckie's Babblings- on the "beach" (comments welcome)

hey beckie! congrats on the pound lost :bounce: . and you're so close to onederland!!! you'll be there before you know it, then we'll have a really big clippie party :Pinkbounc

and it's definitely not goofy to list your household chores as accomplishments for the day, because they definitely are! and it really is great to be able to get through all of that. especially if it makes you feel better. i will often make lists of stuff i have to do and cross them off as i go, and will even add stuff i've already done just so i can cross more things off :). mental thing, i know, but i surely understand where you're coming from ::yes::

glad you felt better after your walk. getting moving and especially in the fresh air can do wonders for your overall outlook. exercise really is a great way to release endorphins and make you feel great :)

hope your day continues to go well, and that your :sunny: attitude stays with you :bounce:

Well, i just jumped off a big cliff!! I signed up for the 1/2 Marathon next Jan. Quite the goal, but should be okay with 10 months to train. A friend at work is a marathoner and is so happy I'm interested he's setting up a plan for me. I decided to dedicate $$ to my goal. Sometimes that is the one thing that keeps me really focused. Don't want to waste $$. My family doesn't know anything about the Marathon or the trip. They just think I'm going to lose weight by running . Won't they be surprised!! Feels good to get that little piece off my mind. Now I'm going to go find the Wish Con Clippee. Have a great day!

yahooo!!!! great news that you're taking the plunge and joining the half marathon! it's nice to have that goal to work toward, i think it's very motivating :bounce:

awesome, i'm so excited for you! have a great day today :sunny:

Wow! Congrats on signing up for the marathon! It's nice to have a big goal out there. As marsh said, it is very motivating!

Keep up the good work and have a healthy and happy Monday!

Beckie, that's GREAT news about signing up for the half-marathon! That means you'll get a chance to meet up with all of us other WISHers who will be there!!

I know that signing up for the half has given me a good reason to exercise. I'm guessing that I'll be in the best shape in my life by race day! I'll be doing my very first half marathon at the age of 40! At this point I'm planning on walking - don't think my knees will take the stress of running.

Can't wait!! It's gonna be great!! :sunny:

Well, was really happy to see my son. Had 2 glasses of wine Mon. night . The family stayed up and were noisey Mon. night. I went to bed but kept waking up from the noise. Tues. I was so tired. I ate fine and stayed on plan all day until supper. I made a Pizza hotdish and it smelled so good that Ihad a bowl (not big) . I t wasn't a huge boo-boo but it made me feel like cheating. I'm back on track today. I can't function well without sleep. (8 hours uninterupted) It always makes me impulsive. Not alot of sleep Tues. night either. Tonight ,I'm in bed at 8:00. I read an article in the Woman's World Mag about eggs. I need to eat a few more during the day. I am learning to say No. to commitments. I have alot on my plate right now and I am learning to say no to things I really don't want to do. Even to my husband and kids. I feel good about my decision to run the 1/2 marathon. I realy need to get up and walk in the am. (up by 5:15am) walking done by 6:15. I have to be at work by 7:40am. My goal this week 2 times to walk in the am and 2 times on the weekend. 30 minutes each.

See you next entry!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: to you all.

Beckie, I'm so proud of you that you will be running the 1/2 marathon! That is just awesome. I hope to be able to do so in 2006. We'll see.

Congratulations on your weight loss too! 11# is just great. Could you share what that magazine article said about eggs? I try to eat them 3 or 4 time per week in either an omelette or with tuna salad.

I can relate what you said about saying no to comittments people want you to make that you don't have the time or inkling to do. I am going to try to remember that one, even if it is a family member. We can only have so much on our plates!

You are doing so well. Take care and keep up the great work! :)

beckie, that stinks that you've been having a hard time getting enough sleep. but like you said, you have to learn to say no to others and concentrate on yourself. that is the only way that you can make sure you have enough time to accomplish everything you need to ::yes::

up at 5:15am! i'm reading all of you guys saying how early you have to get up to get in your exercise, and i really start feeling bad about complaining about my occasional 6am :p

you have a great goal of walking 4 times a week, you can definitely do it :bounce:

hope you have a great day today :sunny:

I slept so well last night. I feel so much better. I have so much to do today that I needed to be on my game. I should have walked this morning. I went out to start my husband's truck(we do this in MN until April) and it was gorgeous out. Light dusting of snow and 30 degrees. I slept in too much. Hope tomorrow is as nice. Really stuck to the plan yesterday and didn't gain. Was hoping for a loss but it's ok. I was down to 203 on Sunday and bounced up to 208 and back to206 today. Am really anxious to get to Onerland!!! Need to drink the H2O!! I tried on a pair of pants this morning and they are too tight to where in public but i can get them on an zip them up so that;s progress. I keep envisioning the start of the 1/2 Marathon. I know that when I am actually standing there, I will have accomplished so many goals. We will have arrived at WDW, I will have trained my way to the start line and be in good shape (looking good in shorts), all the little bumps of planning will be gone. I get so giddy when I think of the successful feelings I will feel. One day at a time!!!

hello there beckie! thank you so much for that wonderful pm you sent me, it was really uplifting :)

i'm glad to see that you got some good sleep last night! and i go out and start up my car on extra cold days too! this morning was one of them, especially cause my car was covered in snow...again! i guess i shouldn't complain though, you guys definitely have worse in mn :)

i know you're really anxious to get to onederland, and i know that you will get there! sometimes it's a slow journey, but slow and steady wins the race ::yes::

i love your envisionment of the half marathon! i can just see you standing there (me too!), being totally prepared, in great shape, and just ready to tackle it head on! hearing you talk about it gives me these butterflies in my stomach, it's so great :teeth:

hope you have a great day today :sunny:

Saturday is always a good day. We are going to take a little road trip to pick up my sons truck. He's selling it and we have a bit more time than he does so were going to do it for him. I worked until 10 at an assited living home. The ladies are so fun. It is my second job and all the money is going to the Big trip. Our house appraised 30,000 higher than we expected and we are refinancing it on Mon. Will be glad to be done with money stuff. Tomorrow my DD will be going to Fargo,ND(150mi) for a dance competition. Mon. back to work. Boy this weekend evaporated. Next week I have Fri. off so it should be a bit more restful. My weight is bouncing around. I hit a low of 203 last weekend but bounced up to 208 during the week and last night it was 211. This am it was 207. Didn't drink the H2O. Need to be more dilegent. The wind is blowing sideways about 30 mph this am. I was going for a walk but may wait until evening. Need to get moving or I'll never stay motivated. My clothes aren't changing either this week. The sun jusst broke through the clouds and it really helps with the attitude. I had a few (2) blacklist items yesterday. Need to not think about those and focus on today.

Well I stayed the same weight as last night. Was hoping for a pound gone. Beautiful ,sunny day. Tried on my 1st goal jeans and I could actually get them on and buttoned. I wouldn't wear them in public yet ,but I bet I can in 2 weeks.

Sat. bkft - egg and bacon, water and coffee
Lunch- burger with fried onions and cheese(no bun) 1 lite beer, one glass of water
Dinner- coleslaw, 1 brownie(fresh baked by DD), 2 glasses of water

wasn't very hungry all day

Today we're off to Fargo to a dance competition. When I finish this I am doing the Leslie Sanstone 2 mi walk to start my day.
Funny, I do feel skinner but not sure why.
Busy week ahead. A lot of paper work and meetings, but I have Fri. off so that's nice. I'm sticking to the plan. I need to read my SB book again but I gave it to someone to read.
2nd post today
I Did the 2 mile walk and 10 minutes of resistance bands. by 8:30. All day I think of it as a gift to me. One day down 300 to go. Ha-Ha. It a journey that will never end. Today I bought good runnig shoes and a new exercise bra. I heard the weather and it will be 40 to 50 all week!!:sunny: :sunny: Can't wait!! i will be outside for sure. Just waiting for the downward drop.

It's funny, when you mentioned in your thread about "feeling skinnier", I know exactly what you mean. Even though the scale isn't moving as much, but I guess just by exercising and watching what we're eating makes you feel like you're accomplishing something and psychologically thinking smaller!

Hope your week is not stressful. Have a great and relaxing Sunday!

hey beckie, you're doing a really great job :bounce:

that scale will catch up, as long as you're feeling skinnier, you've got that going for you :hyper: . and your first pair of goal pants! how exciting! i'm sure you'll be wearing them in public in no time :bounce:

hope dd's competition went well and that you have a great rest of the day today :sunny:

It's Monday and the weekend is gone in a flash! I did walk for 30min on Sat. but Sun. was a wash. Today I have 3 meeting and we close on our house. My basement should be done in 2 weeks. It should be so cool! The snow is going so it will be yard work next. That will burn a few calories. I hope to take my first outside run today. It should be 40 degrees. (We think that is hot for March) Need to get bateries for my walkman. Really need to focus on water during the week. Am okay on weekends, just get busy and forget during work days. I even have a water bottle on my desk.

Bkfst: 2 scrambled eggs, 1 hard boiled egg, low carb yougert.
Lunch:snowpeas and chicken
Dinner: turkey slices, broc,caul,sliced cheese

Snacks:None yet.

Closed on our house !! Took 20 min. to go in debt for 30 years!Wow!!
Was a good day all in all!
Didn't get any walking in but I expect that for Mon. I usually don't try to pack anything extra in on Mon. They seem to be the catchup day anyway. I'm ready for Tues.

Really wanted to get up and walk this morning but I slept a bit later and it is still cold (14 degrees) . I'm hoping to get home early enough to walk before supper. Just 4 errands to run.

Breakfast: 1/2 c oatmeal and 1/4 milk , splenda
Lunch: coleslaw, 1/2 C milk, hard boiled egg,
snack: Russel Stoffers 2 carb mint patties
dinner: ham, cabbage, rhutabegas,

THis week is supposed to be 45-60 degrees. It might get me going. I'm stuck at 205. Not moving. Need to boost my enthusiasm somehow.

Hi Beckie,

I love those RS mint patties. I can;t have them in the house. Welcome to the huge debt society. I hope you can get your walk in this afternoon.
:sunny:
Beth

I started off okay with a 1/2 c of all bran and 1/2 C of milk , packet of splenda. Coffee with nonfat creamer.
Lunch: ham, cooked cabbage and rhutabegas with butter.
Dinner: McDonalds Chicken caesar salad and a snack sized yougert parfait.Opps!
I teach and today and tomorrow are conferences. Today started at work at 7:20 am and ended at 7:40pm. Long day. Tomorrow will start at 7:00am and end around 6:00pm. Friday is a day off!! Meetings with parents and paperwork. Gets overwhelming sometimes. Hard to stay on track. I didn't crash and burn with a bucket of ice cream and a spoon but would have if I could have found time to go and buy some. Didn't find any exercise time, but if I had worn my pedometer would have clocked at least a mile running up and down the halls. Just feel spent and would like to head for bed. Have to pick up 14 year old at a friends in 10 minutes.
I just need to get some sleep and begin again. Stuck scale isn't helping either!!

Don't ya just hate plateaus?!

You're doing great though! Just try to get that water in too! Wishing you a RESTFUL weekend!!!

Friday was great! I didn't have to work, my girls were off doing their thing and I started running errands at 8:00 am . I drove 25 mi. to a fabric outlet and got fabrics to make curtains. Spent 2 hours there and didn't even get a phone call. Ate right on plan but don' t remember exactly what during the day. Cleaned every nook and crany upstairs. Went with friends to the Oak Ridge Boys concert at a casino. Gambled a bit won 35.00. Hubby didn't win so he was crabby. Had primerib and steamed veggies for supper . Yum!!
Today we are going to put up the tracks for the basement false ceiling and hook up my central vacuum. Tomorrow I work 8 -4.

OH!! almost forgot , I am at 201!! Finally past theat 205 mark!! I get to get my 10 pound clippee today!! I started at 214. WhaHooo!!! 2 pounds to ONEder land.
I also wore those goal jeans that were too tight last weeek, to the concert last night and my 16 yr old said they looked good!! I'm going to find and post the 10 pounder!I also walked 1.5 mi on Sat and ran a bit of it. Great feeling. I had knee surgery a year ago and running has been a fearful thing for me since. I'm pretty out of shape but putting one foot in front of the other. Going to try to fit another walk in today.
Have a supper weekend!!
