Bears and Whales - what month in Alaska?

On my early August visits.... the bears and whales were chasing the returning salmon. Be aware... it's also peak pricing for Vancouver hotels with the fireworks competition.

We went in August 2015 and we saw whales and 2 bears from the verandah when we were sailing out of Ketchikan. It was amazing.
