Beardie Enthusiests

Any other Beardie enthusiasts out there? I have 4. 2 adults Godzukie and Goldie. 2 babies Adalaine and Adric. They are the funniest and best lizard pets. In my house we also have 3 leopard geckos, 2 schnider skinks, 1 yellow throated plated lizard, and some other random skink from africa I guess.

The beardeds are the best and the most loveable. Yes when my leos get out they can snuggle down in my hair. Schnider skinks seem to enjoy hanging out with my 3 year old. Go figure. Not sure why. Nobody shows affection like the beardies though. The boys are especially loving. Zukie adores my three year old and will jump over to cuddle up with him. He also runs over to check the baby dragon tank. He hangs out on the back of my chair. Everybody else is fairly gentle and snuggly as well. They all have such lizard personality. They are little scaly members of the family.

I have always heard that bearded dragons are the friendliest, most social reptile. Do they do better in pairs, or can you have just one?

I met a rhino iguana a few weeks ago. I fell in love with him, he was just like a dog! He was HUGE and would come when you call his name, loved to be petted and scratched...I really fell in love with him. I would get one, but I am not clear on the lifespan. 20 years, I could do....30 is pushing it, and I have also read 50 or 60 years!

My beardies lap up attn in the same way. I have to be careful with the babies because they want to explore like babies of any animal do. They are too little and too quick to recapture sometimes. The adults get free range of the room when they out. Not that they care. At most they jump from one family member to the next lol. They are very social. Mines seem to be happy in pairs. I know people who just keep one.

Go to a reptile show and talk to a private breeder. Dont buy randomly from a petshop. First the reptile shows have better variety. Secondly they are often better raised. and lastly you can get a nice color morph for less than the pet stores charge for a plain one. Also it gives you the chance to see and think about your rhino iguana. If I remember right those cost more than a Disney annual pass. Just remember the bigger the lizard the bigger the poop. Hence my beardies are the perfect size.
