Bean Counters and shortsightedness

Man I hope not. That's one of the only downsides of TDR. No park hopping unless you buy a ticket for more than 3 days (thats how it was when I was there).

When I went, you had to declare your first and second days, but could move freely between them on the third. On one of our days, TDS was closing a bit early and they were also allowing ticket holders the ability to go over to TDL, though there may have been a small fee involved. I didn't catch the entire announcement since we weren't planning to do that anyway.

oh and those long benches lol. perfect when not crowded. I too admit to stretching out after parking the kids in front and taking a delicious cool nap in there
When I was at Epcot over the weekend, the heat made me turn to my sister at one point and say that I wish Ellen was still around so we could take naps on those benches.

Now you can take a nap in American Adventure or Sunshine Seasons.

That's when I usually search out a nice cold bar. Last time I was in Epcot on a blazing hot day we fled to Trader Sam's.

can i tell you, i've never actually done the hall of presidents. I love history, but that attraction looks awful to me for some reason
The Orange Man one was pretty hilarious, but I think they changed it. He looked a little off like they started building another female candidate first and then had to re-skin it quickly. I have no idea if that is what actually happened, but I will just say it looked quite comical.........like even more comical than the actual person looks in real life.

It’s been a long while since I have been on the boards, have not travelled to Disney for years. First Covid and then the absolute expense of going to Disney AND the level of difficulty trying to plan a trip for a family of 6.

I flirted with the idea about a year ago, and came to the theme parks forum to get a feel, and one of the top threads was ‘if I budget 1000 usd will that be enough for the genie fast passes, we are going for five days and a family of 4. Wow.

I read that Disney parks is still making a pile of money, but more money from fewer guests. I also had friends who travelled to Disney over the 4th of July, and they told me the morning of July 3, the crowds were low and they walked on to many rides. I don’t know if crowds are still thin at Disney, but if they are I am going to say Disney is in big trouble for long term survival.

What the bean counters forget, is that they are not creating a new massive generation of nostalgic Disney goers. They are shrinking the base of people who are going to think, ‘I can’t wait to take my kid to Disney and let them experience the magic of PeterPan’. They have priced disney out of the range of any average family (in my opinion of course) and the fan base is shrinking. Over time, this attrition is going to kill Disney.

Do you think the direction Disney is going is going to be sustainable in the long run? Maybe the bean counters just figure that is the next guys problem? I don’t know. But I think what they are doing is crippling a giant I use to love so much.
I’m not a fan of protection many of the things Disney has done to increase review in the parks in the last 3 or 4 years.

That having been said, I asked my guide about it…. He quickly, answer 100 plus degree temps, 80 to 90 percent humidity, and heat index in the 110 range….

In the sprit of trust but verified, I asked a friend how lives in Orlando.

She report almost exactly the same weather conditions and noted she was losing inches of water from her pool daily do to the heat…

As much as I don’t agree with some of Disney “corporate corse corrections”

This one, imho, is pure and simple, central Florida in July is hotter than hell…..

Would numbers in the parks been higher if the prices were lower, maybe, but maybe not

Florida in the summer has been hot for a long long time. I don’t believe that people just figured it out, locals would be much better at understanding the differences year over year, over a tourist, who’s going to say “isn’t Florida always hot hot hot in July”

Disney parks are 100% going to struggle when Universal opens their new gates. If they're not panicking now, they should be.

I said this in another thread but I believe the Disney park that will struggle the most when Epic opens is AK. The majority of people in America don't have a ton of PTO so they'll have to pick and choose which parks to go to. I bet people will drop AK and add in Epic Universe.

In the same vein I feel like USF will struggle too. That park also needs some major help.
