Beaches and Cream - why all the fuss?

I think the burgers at the Fountain are now better than the burgers I used to love from Beaches and Cream, but I would still eat one.

But as others have said, it was the No Way José sundae that always makes me want to go there. I love peanut butter and chocolate. :cloud9:

Perfectly said. I could not agree more.

Well....I'd been planning on trying Beaches and Cream for the first time on our trip next month. Now you have me wondering. Is the atmosphere worth giving up the best hot fudge sundae ever at Ghirardelli? If I were forced to choose between the two, that is.

Is the atmosphere worth it?? No way.

But the No Way Jose, that alone may be worth it.

We've tried both locations several times. The sundae at Ghirardelli is much better than the ice cream at B&C, but the No Way Jose is just so excellent, we still go back to B&C for that alone.

We went there for the first time last month. Couldn't understand the hype. The burger was so so, the fries had been under a heat lamp too long. The ice cream was fine but I agree -- no real variety.

I, too, am totally grossed out by the kitchen sink, of which we saw something like five served during the hour we were there.

We didn't have the No Way Jose. Perhaps that was our mistake. Anyway, we'll never have it now because we won't bother going back.

I'm always surprised at the places that are so popular on these boards. 'Ohana was a huge disappointment. Beaches & Cream was, too. We much prefer Ghiradelli.

I believe it's all about the experience. We went there once and didn't really enjoy the meal or the dessert. I would much rather have Ghirardelli's ice cream. However, we thought it would be fun to try. Once we did, we never went back.

I think it's similar to a lot of the Disney restaurants, it's more experience than quality of food. We go to the Akershus every vacation...definitely not for the food...my daughter loves the idea of the princesses coming to the table. We went to Sci Fi Diner a couple of times...again, definitely not for the food...my son loved it...actually, this past vacation, he said that he didn't want to go there anymore...:cool1::cool1::banana::banana: was my reaction. We have tried most places with characters in them and are usually disappointed with the food. However, I think the biggest disappointment was the time we tried Garden Grill for the first time....we liked the experience and characters, but definitely not going back, the food was absolutely atrocious.:crazy2:

Anyways, back to the point. I think a lot of people go back to those restaurants because of the experience and maybe that's what the hype is all about. And of course, everyone has different tastes. For instance, everyone was raving about the School Bread at Norway and so I really wanted to try it. I, absolutely, did not like it. It just seems to be a large cream filled donut which was toooooo sweet. But when I tried the Dole Whip float, I loved it! I rave about it! Different people with different tastes.:)
