Beach with amenities

Hoping someone will know.......

We will be in San Diego before we visit DLR, hoping to get a beach day in. Is there a beach around with amenities - chairs, umbrellas, bathrooms, etc. even a resort where we could buy a day pass would be great. We will have car so we can travel a little.
