beach excursions

Anyone have any experience w/ roll-your-own beach excursions at any of the carribean east ports? I want essentially the same thing as the disney sponsored one - but I want to bring a picnic lunch and I want more freedom to come/go per my own schedule...

I'm basically going to do the beaches at the ports on our own. You can either rent a car for the day or grab a cab and have them take you to the beach you want to go to...they'll also come back and get you when you tell them to and take you into town for some shopping.

There are lots of threads on this board for Eastern beach excursions...just do a search and decide which is best for you! Have fun planning!!

We did this in St. Maarten. We went to Orient Beach on our own. The total cost for all of us was about the same as for one of us with DCL. We hopped a cab over and back ($8-10 per person each way) a couple of chairs and umbrella for about $10. If you bring your own food, you're set (we didn't, we went after lunch).

The beach and the water and the view were fabulous!!! Its a great beach!!
