I have chosen Siesta Key for our beach day and I am wondering whether it is worth staying overnight there ? I have found a good rate at the Tropical Shores resort. i have seen some lovely photos of the sunsets and I think DH may be too tired to drive back in the evening and it may be nice to spend 1 night at the beach out of 14 in Orlando. What do you think ?

Personally I can't imagine spending a whole day at the beach and then having to drive almost two hours back to WDW. I would relax, enjoy the day and stay then drive back the next day. :sunny:

can i ask how much your deal is we just looked at this place tropical shores? where did you see great pix? i wouldn't drive back we did daytona and when i got there and relaxed i couldn't imagine driving back, daytona was a little too dirty for us...

I live near Siesta Key and I would say spend the night. :) The beach is beautiful...you may want to go back in the morning. :thumbsup2

At the risk of sounding ignorant, is that on the east or west coast?

west coast in the Sarasota area.

definately spend the night so you can see the sunset over the Gulf. SK's our favorite Gulf beach.

I've been down to Siesta Key twice in the last year and absolutely love it. The beach is beautiful. I would definitely stay overnight. Isn't quite a long ride to Orlando from there?

I know of Tropical Shores Villa in Turks and Caicos and it is amazingly beautiful there. some photos of the place at

Wonderful choice. We love that area. It would be well worth staying the night. It's fun to hang out on St. Armand's after the sun goes down.

We made a day trip from Cocoa Beach to Orlando and spent the day at WDW, but that's a shorter trip than Siesta Key. Waking up to a leisurely beach walk would be my vote.

Please don't take offense, but I find it humorous that this thread was started just a month less than five years ago and they're still getting advice. The OP must have gotten to the beach by now, eh? :)

I sure hope so! :rotfl:

I was thinking the same thing!:rotfl2:

But we are wanting to take a three day minitrip to the coast in the middle of our Disney trip this July. Sounds like Siesta Key would be great. Any current suggestions for places to stay?
