in Nassu, is there a beach within walking distance? Is it necessary to purchase one of the Atlantis adventures to visit the beach. Atlantis is just very expensive for my family of 5. Although I would love to tour the ruins and etc. there.

Hi there,

I think we are going to try Melia. If I remember correctly, it's $30 per person but it includes just beach access. You'd have to take a cab there too. I think the Hilton is walking distance from the port. Try searching in the search box on the top right side of the page. I know I've seen posts on Nassau day passes before

Have a great trip!!!

there arent any beaches in walking distance. There is also a beach day at Blue Lagoon that is far more reasonable than Atlantis and its still a "Disney" excursion

There is a public beach not more than 10 minute walk from the pier, just past the Colonial Hilton. Google Junkanoo beach.

We visited Junkanoo Beach in September. It is around a 25 minute walk. It is a small local beach. We had fun but it is nothing special.

I've been to Nassau twice. Once with just my wife and we went to Sandals. It's an adult resort and was lots of fun. Last time we went with our 4 year and 11 year old. We ended up going to British Colonia Hilton. It's about a 10 min walk from the pier. You can pre order a beach pass that comes with a food/beverage credit. It's was pretty reasonable and no stress about getting back in time or having to take a taxi.

We did a cruise into Nassau with our 15 month old and our 3 year old and didn't want to take a cab anywhere due to not having carseats. So we bought a day pass from the hotel right outside the straw market and spent the day at the beach there. You get access to their bathrooms and restaurants. It was a very easy walk with a toddler and a stroller. The beach was ok, not the beach I think of when I think Caribbean. So next cruise to Nassau, we might get off to just stretch our legs, but otherwise we will just stay on the ship.

I'm looking into doing the Atlantis Beach Day and Tour. If I use the Atlantis website it's cheaper than going through the DCL site. The only thing that I'm a little concerned with is the 25 minute car ride. We have 3 year old and a 6 year old that require booster/car seats.

We have gotten a day pass ($30 adults/$15 under 18) for the Sheraton, then Westin, now a Melia, I believe. It is on Cable Beach and very nice. Chairs, umbrellas, pools were included. It's very nice. We used to take the jitney bus around the corner from the straw market for $1PP, but you can also take a cab. I emailed in advance to confirm they still offer them, but just paid when I got there. The lobby area is very nice also, for those who want a break from the sun/heat.
