Beach Club Villas Studio Sofa Bed Question

Hi,
My upcoming Disney trip will be at the Beach Club Villas. I've booked a studio suite as it will just be my mother and myself. My question is are the sofa beds comfortable? Is it difficult to open? Is it easy to collapse?

Oh and is there a toaster in the Beach Club Villas Studio?

The sofa bed is a sofa bed..it is as comfortable as one can be.
Nothing special. They have never been all that comfy, but they work in a pinch.

Yes - there is a toaster! Not a toaster oven but a standard toaster that you stick the bread into vertically...hope that makes sense!

As far as the sofa bed my DD (7) slept on it and she deemed it "very comfy" but this was her first time in a pull out sofa and I think she thought the overall experience was really cool - I'm not sure how accurate her assessment is!

The sofa bed would not be horrible for one adult. The location of the BCVs is so great that I wouldn't switch just to get two beds.

The sleeper sofa is not that bad to sleep on. I've done it a few times. If you really want two beds, you can stay at OKW. You'll get the two queen sized beds, plus your small kitchen space with refrigerator and microwave. Plus a toaster if you want one. And the bathroom is HUGE.

I've stayed in a studio at Old Key West and while it was nice we weren't as keen on the resort. The room was lovely, and the bathroom (as you also mentioned) was huge, but the bus service wasn't that great when we were there. We really like the location of the BCV since we've stayed at the Beach Club before. The deciding factor was being able to make something quick to eat if we didn't feel like going out for a huge meal.
My own bed is pretty crappy so maybe the sofa bed won't be too bad (I hope lol)

I wouldn't switch -- they have been replacing the sofa beds recently with a new kind that doesn't have that awful support bar in them to stick in your back -- suppossedly they are much more comfy - lots of people have been reporting on them on the DVC boards. I don't think you'll have much of a problem The old kind weren't terrible as sofa beds go so the new ones should be nice.

We just returned from a stay at the BWV where mom and I switched nights on the sofabed. It wasn't the worst bed in the world but it was nowhere near the best either. We both woke up with some back/neck krienks the nights that one of us slept on it. The bed didn't have the support bar in the area of the back but there was one in the back of the calf of your legs and I could feel that one. There were two days where my mom had to take an aspirin to help with pain in her back but can't contribute the majority of that to the pain (mostly the walking and realizing mom's back was getting a bit worse) to the sofabed. I know that I would love to stay DVC again (rented points this past stay) but I think that we will be bringing one of the air mattresses for next time.

BTW the mattress was very hard to take out of the sofa at the BW. You have to really position yourself to get that darn thing out of there. I could budge the bed at all and had to call Housekeeping. The CM explained that if I prop my foot on the bed and leverage myself with the right pulling power it would come out. Well that is exactly what you have to do, put your foot on the sofa and jerk that sucker up then it opened up without incident. The mattress is maybe 3 or 4 inches thick.

Have fun, that area around Epcot is so enjoyable.

The sofabeds at BWV are generally older than the ones at BCV, so tend to be a little thinner, a little less comfortable. We were at BWV over Vets' Day weekend, and I slept on the sofabed with DS most nights, and it was fine. It was very hard to open and close tho. So I was relieved to see that they are replacing most of the BWV sofabeds in the next couple of years.

BCV on the other hand is only a year or so old, so the sofabeds there should be in very good shape. No way I would switch resorts over a sofabed. BCVs are wonderful, and you just can't beat the location!

My DD's(8 & 5) even complained about the sofa bed at BCV. I then started pulling the sheets back and realized that someone had put the mattress upside down. The mattress is labeled which side should be facing up. The way it was, the springs were sticking them in the back. I flipped the mattress over and it was better after that. Just keep this in the back of your mind, if your mattress is really uncomfortable, it might be wrong side up. Also, I have heard reports of folks requesting egg crates to put on them, and I would think that would help with the comfort level.

DH and I slept on the sleeper sofa at OKW (2-bedroom) in March. I don't know if BCV has the same sofas, but we had no problems sleeping there on our 5-night stay. And they were very easy to open and collapse.

We've put an Aero bed on top of the sleep sofa mattress for my son. We check it as a piece of luggage - minimal extra work involved. (We have a couple "princess (or prince) and the pea"s in our family - the slightest bump from the bar causes sheer agony!)
