We had a wonderful visit to Disney World the week of October 21, 2001. It was our first time as DVC owners. We stayed at the Grand Floridian Resort only because our daughter always dreamed of going there. We are looking forward to our first trip "home" at the VWL in January. While we were at Disney, we ran over to the Beach Club Resort to check on the progress of the villas there. We know many people are interested on how it looks. It's a very nice resort, however, the view is not what I call the best. You have the view of the parking lot, the street or the woods and you a long distance from the pool. This is what decided us to purchase into the VWL because we like the location of the resort and every room has a nice view. It seems so much quieter at the VWL.
We also attended the "Not So Scary Halloween Party." It was a blast. Disney really knows how to throw a party because they had a band or a dj on stages in each one of the main lands in the Magic Kingdom. They had all the rides open and they were giving away a lot of candy around the park.
This is the first time we rented a car so we could drive around Florida. Typically in the past, we have always used a shuttle service and spent the entire week in the Disney parks. This year, we decided to go to a variety of places such as Kennedy Space Center and Universal Studios. Next year we will again spend a week - half of it in the Disney Parks and then a couple of days in a few of the other Florida attractions such as Sea World or Busch Gardens. We will always spend the entire week at our home resort, the VWL.

There are pictures of the Beach Club Villas too on an adjacent page.

Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Will there be another pool for the Beach Club in addition to SAB priveledges?

You've got a point about the views. Still, the convenient location seems like an advantage.

Great pictures....thanks for sharing them. Putting the construction photo right below the artist's rendering makes it a lot easier to picture the final product. Looks like it will be very nice.

I agree with CaptainMidnight....it seems that most people who rave about BWV are mostly loving the proximity to Epcot and MGM as well as being in the thick of things. BVC should meet both criteria well.

I also enjoyed your GF pictures. Can you tell us about the new pool? Does it have slides? Does it look out across the lake to MK? I was thinking of pool hopping there next year and wondering if it was kid friendly, or more laid back and upscale?

Thanks for the great pictures. Really gives me a good appreciation and conception of what the resort is going to be like.

Yes, there is a "quiet" pool on the back side of BCV. Photos are tough to find of that area, as it's behind a construction barricade and in wooded area. In this view, it's between the jungle and the building. (I'm confident that the jungle will be reduced to an attractive landscape before opening.)

Great info Doc. Another pool just in case SAB is busy will be a niuce addition. I hope they also use the same type of concept as WL with the additional lobby, and possibly some amenities off of it like a community room for activities. The availability of video rentals, I don't know if they'll have an exercise room since the Beach Club/YC exercise room is there. Maybe that's enough, I've never used it to know how big it is. I guess we don't need additional expense if it's not needed. However, the exercise room at Vero is great, it has tons of equipment, it doesn't require staff to be onsite to add expense the staff expense, and the hours don't seem to be too restrictive.

Activity rooms and game rooms are nice for the waiting time while family and friends arrive to go out to dinner or when those afternoon Florida rains come. I was impressed by the WL lobby that is dedicated to the villas. I know we can't get past the construction fences to check it out. Perhaps one of us might be lucky enough to buy one of the construction workers a beer and learn more.....

Doc, I am kind of worried about that Jungle. I was there in October and it is really bad. My worry is that they haven't really trimmed it back or maintained it much on the one side of Beach Club that faces Epcot, and that resort is already there (not in the process of being built). Maybe they think the woodsy appearance is appealing???

Appealing to mosquitoes and other bugs. Haha!!! The pix are great, thanks for taking the time to take them and share them.
