Beach Club villas need a refurb..FAST...

A refurb is coming real soon for Beach Club!

"Guest Room Renovations will take place through August 22, 2015. Rooms will be refurbished with new hard and soft goods. Guests will not be accommodated in the affected areas but it is possible that some noise could travel while work is in progress (between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily). Some public areas are also expected to be renovated. The resort will remain open throughout this work."

See http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/rehab.htm

Because it is both a hard and soft goods refurb, they should be replacing pretty much everything. Guests with a reservation before September 2015 can ask for a renovated room!

But it doesn't say anything about the Villas.

I emailed member service satisfaction email address, so here's hoping they can do something to kind of make it right.

We have points at both BLT and VB , and try to maximise (plot and scheme) our points by travelling in value season...so using this amount of our points really annoys me for the quality of accom.

So, we'll see.

It seems the studios are in worse condition than the 1 and 2 bedders..but as a travelling family of 2 I am not moving up to a 1 bedder just so the cupboard doors don't fall off in my hands :thumbsup2

YMMV

OP I see you are relatively new here. It seems you are really annoyed and have an "axe to grind". I hope you get some satisfaction, as your pictures indicate you really were in a bad unit. Given your dissatisfaction (deserved) I agree the BCV is not for you.
We had the exact opposite experience last week in a BCV studio. I will post my experience as well.
Good Luck in the future

Can you really get mad about scuffs or marks on the wall? Like do you expect them to bust open a can of paint and cover up the marks in between guests checking out and checking back in?
I feel like dvc owners are sometimes too critical over some silly things. Yes I understand we pay maintenance fees and we want the rooms to be up to standards. But cabinet doors might eventually fall off after being opened 2734 times...you didn't get hurt and maintenance came and fixed it so I don't see what the big deal is.

yes I am new to DIS but not to DVC (2010)..not quite sure what that has to do with things....

the marks etc were just the icing on the cake....hairdryer in flames...cupboard falling off.... body fluid stains on the lounge & bed spread etc etc.....those stains didn't look like food....but as always YMMV

but I guess there will always be those who believe Disney can do no wrong and that our $25,000+ investment should just be a donation to DVC without expecting anything of quality in return.

How hard is it to maintain a certain standard???

And yes I do have a very expensive axe to grind......

The hair dryer caught fire in my hands....but hey I didn't die so everything is good right!

You make me laugh:rotfl2:

IMHO the scuff marks and door stop hole were minor. You mention stains on the bedspread...I thought they no longer used bedspreads, but were triple sheeting at all resorts? Even bleached whites can show some staining, and we really don't know what caused the stain on the sofa, the sofa may need to be recovered, so I wouldn't necessarily expect that to be done except during scheduled rehab. The other problems you show should absolutely have been addressed and corrected during your stay.

The simple fact is that BCV does need a refurb. Same goes for BWV. A faulty hairdryer could happen anywhere and does not necessarily mean a refurb is in order. A loose cabinet hinge does not equal immediate refurb either. However, the carpet and furnutire is obviously showing extreme wear. DVC owners should expect a certain level of maintainance and upkeep. I feel that keeping it at a 3-star level should be the goal.

These Epcot resorts can get away with below average conditions because of their location. Being able to walk to two different parks is a huge draw. I'm not saying it is right, but Disney knows this and they will try to maximize their profits by putting off refurbs for as long as possible.

I have stayed at BWV, BCV, SSR-THV, OKW in the last 4 years. BCV is the most in need of a refurb and BWV is a close second. The difference between BC/Yacht and BCV is very noticeable.

I think this might be for the resort itself and not the Vacation Club section. Even though I am sure it needs updated, I have never had the problems some hve had at this resort. I guess I am lucky.

OP, you have every right to be upset with your room! IMO Disney should have either relocated you, restored points to your account or given you something of value s.a. comped park passes for your stay...

Boy you guys are scaring me. We just booked at BCV in to a 2 bedroom villa for June. We have never stayed there and wanted to try this location. Never had any real issues to speak of except on our last trip to OKW last year where one of the drawers in the master bedroom was broke and the frig. freezer was not working due to a goggled line. Both issues were fixed right away after calling. Sometimes these issues go unreported and should not be. If something is broken, report it. Minor smears and scuff to me are just a part of normal wear and tear. These rooms get a lot of use and we have to expect some of this....smjj

We wanted to stay at BCV for our June trip but chose not to due to the need for refurb and likihood of being mid-refurb. We are taking 1st timers and don't want to be in that situation. If it were just us, oh yeah...

Next time!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom , room 323, the first week of November and the only issue was the hairdryer broke the second day. A quick call and we had a new one. The room was in good shape otherwise.

Agree 100% with the state of the rooms at BCV. One year ago we stayed there for a couple of nights in a split stay and that is the last time that we stay there until it is renovated.

We own at AKV and there is a night and day difference with the quality of the rooms. And I am not just talking about old shabby stuff, I also mean dirty rooms.

I would have issues with poor conditions as well. IMHO if the rooms are starting to show this kind of wear then they are behind the curve the refresh cycle. Sure a few scuffs are understandable, but when all of things add up to an overall feeling of disrepair...you set yourself up for guest dissatisfaction (like others I expect more from a deluxe resort)

Anyone know when the last full refurb was?

Never. Full refurbishments don't occur that frequently with DVC villas because members pay for them. OKW was 17/18 years old before they did the first complete renovation.

BCV is not that old, maybe 13 years old, and has soft good replacements a few times.

If you look at Condominium Association information you got in the mail recently, it says that the estimated useful life of the interior refurbishment is 1-28 years (at least at OKW). Read those things. They tell you a lot and not just how much you will owe next year.

Just a little trivia-BCV opened around July 1, 2002 (anyone here know the exact date?).
I'm making reservations at BCV tomorrow for the F&W. From my experience, its heavy use is showing, I DID notice scuff marks. Maybe we've been lucky, but everything has worked fine except on one visit when our coffee pot didn't work and they had to bring a new one. The good news-it was brand new, still in the box. The bad news-it took 2 hours to arrive, and as DH can attest, I'm not pleasant if I'm forced to wait 20 minutes for my morning coffee, let alone 2 hours!
