Hi,

I have an ADR at Chef Mickey's for dinner on our first night to kick off our Disney vacation. What is the easiest/fastest way for six people staying at the Beach Club to get there? (We won't have our own car or a rental car.)

Options:

1. Walk through Epcot, monorail to TTC, switch to resort monorail and get off at Contemporary

2. Bus from BC to MK, resort monorail to Contemporary

3. Rent a taxi-van to pick us up at BC (Any idea of cost?)

Any other options you would recommend?

If we pick option 1 or 2... How much time would you allow?

Thanks!!!

If you go with option #2 I would allow 45 minutes or more to be on the safe side. However when arriving at the Magic Kingdom it would be faster to use the walkway to the Contemporary, since it's right by the bus station and because the Monorail station is on the opposite side.

If you go with option #3 I am just guessing that the cost for a taxi would be around $15.00 - $20.00, however it's around a 10-15 minute drive and it would take you directly to the front of the Contemporary.

Ditto above poster. I would go with
Option #4: Bus to MK, walk to Contemporary via walkway.

The walkway would be considerably shorter than walking through Epcot to get to the monorail, and a whole lot faster than switching monorails once. I'd give it 30-45 minutes depending on how many stops the bus makes on its way to the MK.

Option #2 just doesn't make a whole lot of sense, if you're going to walk to the Resort Monorail, you're just adding time walking and time riding. By the time you get on the Monorail, you would have already checked in to Chef Mickey's if you had just walked there ;)

Option #5 is walk/boat to the Studios and take a Contemporary bus from there.

The reason I state this is that you will have a direct bus ride. If you get on the MK bus from your resort, it is possible that before heading to MK you will stop at YC/BW/Swan/Dolphin before heading to the MK.

Option will take you at least an hour. Plus you will have to use admission to Epcot just to walk thru. I would opt for the taxi. Way quicker.

Disers rock! Thanks for all the great replies...

I never even considered taking the boat to DS, then riding by bus to MK.

I also never realized you could walk from the MK bus stop to right to the Contemporary. How awesome! Since I'm unfamiliar with the path, could someone please give me specifics on how to find it. Is it marked with signs? Also, about how long of a walk is it?

I'm sure CR Resort Fan can help with this one, or maybe someone else?

Thanks again for the great advice. :thumbsup2

The walk/boat to DS will take longer than the walk from the MK buses to the Contemporary (and it is not necessarily a direct route from DS to Contemporary, it could stop at Poly & GF to drop off people from DS first). The path is pretty easy to find, just start walking to the Contemporary when you get off the bus. You can't miss it, it's the giant toaster that's behind you ;)

I'd say it's 5 minutes tops walking from the MK bus platform. Maybe a little longer if you're really slow walkers.

Here's a map http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=28.415711,-81.577692&spn=0.004879,0.007339&t=h&z=17
The bus drop off spots for MK are those dark green/black pointed rectangles left of center (the resort monorail is a bit farther to the left).

To walk to the Contemporary from the MK bus stops.

Walk toward the MK continually bearing right. Right before you would start down the path that they funnel you to to enter baggage check, you basically make a U-turn then head down a path with bushes on the left and the monorail beam above you. You will get to a crosswalk, push the button and pay attention to the crosswalk signs. Then you pass the Contemporary bus stops and enter through the first floor door, then find the escalators and work your way to the fourth floor.

That's the exact way to go and I found the walk to be around 7-10 minutes.

We are big fans of taking taxis to the other resorts for ADRs. You can get most anywhere on Disney property for about $20. For me, the time it saves you is well worth it. You will need a taxi van, but as we are a family of 6, that is what we use too. No extra charge. Save the hour (at least!) of your time and get a taxi.:)

I always take the MK bus and then walk to CR. I've never done it any other way...it's not all that time consuming..I just look at it as part of the fun. When you get off your bus at MK, stay to the right, swing around to the right, rather than the left (which would take you to MK)...you are basically just going around the driveway the buses use. You will really follow the monorail line, overhead, to the CR. It follows the walkway..the bus driveway is on your right, MK/train on your left. It's a very pleasant walk...takes me about 8 mins.

$20 is do-able. Time is money, right? We might use this option one way at least... especially if the kiddos (or their parents!) are exhausted. Could you please give me some info on which cab company you recommend? Do you have to set this up in advance, or could I just call from the Contemporary lobby? How long do you typically wait for the taxivan-- is it that much less than waiting for the WDW bus?

Sorry for all the questions! I really do appreciate your help. :worship:
