Now that it is getting closer to our arrival date at BC, I am getting a little concerned over our view possibility with only having a standard room. Of course, the plan is not to be in our room much, mostly at the parks and SAB. However, after researching lately, I am reading a lot about seeing roof tops or the parking lot with the standard rooms. I understand I have only payed for a standard view and should not expect more. It is just that for our last 4 trips to Disney we have stayed at the CB (a moderate) and although always had a standard, we usually looked out into a garden area. Now, we finally are able to try a deluxe, possibly with a balcony, and I am a little concerned about the view. I was hoping if anyone who may have stayed in a standard room at the BC recently could give me their review or any suggestions, I would truly appreciate it. Thanks so much.

Our trip to the BC was quite a while ago but we had a lagoon view (but we had to pay for it of course). We stayed at the YC two years ago and paid for a standard room but when we checked in they put us in a courtyard view at no extra $ which was great. Now, in May we stayed at BWI and reserved a standard view but when we checked in we requested a courtyard view and there was no extra charge. They also put us in a king bed room at no charge. I really think it depends on the time of year you go because if their bookings are down they usually try to accomodate your requests without any problems. However, I think its safe to say that "courtyard" views are the same rate as standard views. That would at least be better than getting stuck with a "parking lot" view. Good luck!

Hi! My DW and I stayed at BC last Nov. in a standard view room. Our room was to the right of the lobby as you go in/face it, so we overlooked the covered walkway, the "pond", trees and could see the parking lot. For us "view" is no big deal.

I sat on the balcony several nights after returning from the parks and just enjoyed watching the stars come out. Like you, we were not in the room that much. For that matter, we notice the "view" maybe a couple of times -- for a few minutes after we check-in and occasionally in the evening.

How to compensate? Check out the rockers on the "back porch" area. Great view there. Or snag some space on the beach. We were there last Nov. and they had just put up the Christmas decorations -- really early -- so it was great to sit in the evening with the lights on. We really didn't miss anything with our room.

It is true that there is a good possibility of a parking lot view staying in a standard room at the Beach Club, but chances are that if you request having anything *besides* that view, you will at least have a rooftop or courtyard view... it's just luck and the time of year you go. When my family was there about a year and a half ago, we requested a full balcony away from the parking lots and close to the elevators. While our room was a little bit of a walk from the elevators, we did have a full balcony and a really good view, at least for a standard. While our room was on the rooftop, we could see the Swan & Dolphin resorts, shipwreck, and windmill for the Stormalong Bay pool... we may have been able to see part of the pool as well, but I don't know for sure. It was a pleasant room and view (sorry, I don't remember the #) and certainly suitable for you if you aren't going to spend much time in your room. If the view is a really big factor in your vacation, then shell the extra $$$ for a water view room. However, I think if you requested a standard rm. not looking at the parking lot, you would have a view that was better than what you have in mind. Have fun!

This may help, it is a link to a site that has BC floor plans, that way you can see where the rooms are, and the room numbers as well.
Hope it helps! (Note: scroll towards bottom of page for links to the plans)

We had a standard view at BC a few years ago. Our original room was a courtyard view but it was not ready when we arrived after 4pm, a large convention just checked out. So they found us a room on the 5th floor. At first I was disappointed that we were right over the valet entrance facing the parking lot. But that night I found that we could see part of Illuminations from our balcony, hear the music and we could see Spaceship Earth. Ended up liking it!

:D Thanks everyone for your quick reponses. I will ask if there is anything available that might not face directly at the parking lot but, if that is all they have, I am sure we will have fun no matter what we face. Right? After all we will be at Disney, my favorite vacation spot. Thanks again.

When you arrive, don't go straight to the check in desk. Instead, take 5 or 10 minutes to walk around the resort , to get an idea of what rooms look on to what. I bet there are standard views that are good and standard views that are drab... if you are just a bit familiar with the grounds it should help lot.

You say that it is "getting close to your arrival date" - school is in session, or will be for most very soon. This means smaller crowds - when you check-in, smile & remark that you are sooooooo excited about your first stay at the BC - you have heard sooooooooooo many wondergul things about it. Ask if your "standard room" has a good view - ask if there might be an upgrade available - the CM will say yes or no I am sorry. If they say yes - and if you are expected to pay fo it they will quote a price - you decide. They may just move you on up without so much as a peep. In slower times that can/will happen.

Even if you have the dreaded "parking lot/roof view" - it will not ruin your trip - in my opinion, the worst view at BC is at least as good as a good view at another resort.

disgirl~ Last year we stayed at the BC (the 3rd week of August). The BC was undergoing rehab at the time. Even though the crowds were smaller the BC was packed. At check-in we were given a room which over looked bushes but we asked at check-in for a better view. The CM told us to check back in the morning and they would move us. We did just that and rec'd a much larger room with a water view. It can't hurt to ask. Good luck:D :Pinkbounc :D
