My DW and I stopped briefly at the newly renovated BCV Marketplace and were favorably impressed with the addition of a gelato counter (about ten flavors), baked goods and prepared sandwiches. There is even freshly brewed coffee!! :goodvibes

Unfortunately, we didn't have time to try any of these delicacies since were were on our way to the airport after our stay at BWV, but this renovation adds significant attraction to the BCV. I just wish BCV had standard view rooms so I wouldn't need to use up those DVC points so quickly. :(

We have stayed at BCV once before and were lucky enough to get an EPCOT view room. It WAS worth the extra points, especially when we were able to watch IllumiNations from our balcony and see "The Ball" from our room at night. IMHO, they should add a preferred point category for those rooms and a standard category for others as they do at BWV, but I doubt that will ever happen.

It needed it badly. There just wasn't any quick food options right there.

Chocolate gelato is absolutely yummy!!!! :)
2 weekends ago... definitely have to try rest of the flavors.

Very very true! 2 weeks ago today, I was enjoying it!

I agree-it's a wonderful addition. We must have eaten there at least 3-4 times in the 3 days we were there. The Mango gelato was the highlight of Mom's trip, I think! I preferred the pistachio gelato and the coconut and chocolate chip bars were great! The last morning I even ran in to "take one for the road".

The Market Place took the place of the old store, across from the Salarium (sp). The food selection is better. The gelato is good. It will tough for them to compete with Beaches and Creme though. I can see them getting rid of that. Too bad, because it is good.

We went to Italy in May to see our sailor son stationed in Sicily. While there I got hooked on gelato. :sunny: I can't wait to try it out next time I'm home at BVC. YUM!

ok - this new store is where the old Beach Club store was? the one through the double sliding doors across from the Ariel statue??? Or somewhere else?

Just dense - sorry.

Looking forward to going regardless of where it is. We'll be there for Christmas - WOOHOO!!! (Or Hanname Holidays, that is).

It is where the old store was, they broke through the back and made it larger. :earsgirl:

I loved the new Beach Club Mareketplace when we were there. It was definately a good addition. I was hoping for a grill to make just a few grill type items like eggs, bacon and hash browns in the morning and hot dogs and hamburgers in the afternoon and evening. That would have made the Beach Club Marketplace perfect in my opinion. Like I said, I love that there is some type of quick food place now, I just wish it would have been a little bit more. You know you always want more than you have.

We loved the new Marketplace during our recent visit. In addition to more food choices (and of course Gelato), it made it much easier to use our refillable mugs. It's MUCH closer to BCV than the long hike to HH or B&C was.

We are headed to BCV in August and I know the Markeplace will be a great help to our busy family. Wanted to add, by the way, that BCV certainly DOES have "standard views" -- ask anyone who has ever been assigned to "first floor, service-road view." UNFORTUNATELY, Disney doesn't label them standard view and has the nerve to charge full points.

I agree that the Marketplace is a great change. I really enjoyed the beef sandwich...much better than Earl of Sandwich IMHO.

For coffee lovers, the coffee is brewed. The grinder is right next to the coffee machine. Apple juice and lite lemonade are available in the drink dispenser as well as the usual coke, diet coke, etc..

My gelato lovers really enjoyed the gelato. The chocolate croissants at breakfast are covered in chocolate with a few chocolate pieces added for good measure. Yum!

I don't believe the store was expanded in size at all though, just reconfigured.

I really think there is no way that B&C will be closed.

I didn't mean that B&C will close. I meant that the gelato, while much different, might not survive with B&C right iin the complex.

Oh, sorry...I did misunderstand you totally.

I hope the gelato does last. It is so convenient to BCV as well as to the BC rooms. It is also much faster service in our experience than B&C.

Paul,

Thank you so much for posting. Gelato after a day at the parks sounds so refreshing!
