Be Our Guest with a toddler under 3

We are going to Be Our Guest in April. Our son is only 2, so he can eat off our plates without having to pay for him. However, is there an a la carte menu for the little ones? Or has anyone had this situation? I really don't want to pay $33 for a 3 course meal for a 2 year old who will probably only nibble on something.

No. Price fixe is your only option. Okay, option is the wrong word. There is zero á la carte pricing at Be Out Guest dinner.

There isn't any a la carte option at Be Our Guest for dinner (or any other prix fixe meal). You would either have to pay for him to have a children's meal, or have him eat from someone's plate. We skip anything prix-fixe with our 2 year old in tow for this reason- he's old enough to want his own small meal, but his appetite doesn't warrant the price tag of ordering him his own meal.

I have never eaten at BOG but have at other prix fixe with small children. It's not uncommon for the server to give you a small plate for the little one at no extra charge. You can also just designate one of the bread plates to feed your son placing small amounts of what he likes to eat on it.
Just a thought.

We just returned from DL and the waiter brought him a small Mac & Cheese and charged us like $5 when we were doing a Prix Fixe. Would you bring QS food into a TS meal at home? I wouldn’t, but you might get away with it. It will likely be cold by the time you arrive, if that matters. Could you feed him the QS Mac and cheese before you go and just have him nibble off you plates during dinner?

Actually we have. We don’t eat out often, but we’ve brought a little something for him in the past and we’ve never had An issue. In fact, usually the server is very accommodating.
It will really all depend day of and how is doing, eating etc. it’s hit and miss with a toddler as it is. If the server were to say anything, we would of course oblige. But i was curious if 1. There were a la carte options or 2. If someone else had a similar situation and how they handled it

He is 2. Nobody is going to say anything or look at you funny. If they do, it says more about them than about you. Bringing in food for a baby or toddler is not a big deal at all.

Last time we were at BOG (November 2018), they offered mac & cheese or applesauce to the little boy next to us. No charge.

I also haven't encountered this situation at BOG. I have eaten at CRT a many times with a 2 year old (different two year olds). They have always brought out a meal for our two year old without us even asking. They usually just brought the same thing the other kid was having. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case there. I wouldn't expect it though so maybe have a plan going in. Do the quick service option or just order something he will eat and share.

can you bring some kind of non hot snack for him? Chances are a toddler won't care about having a hot meal or a pile of goldfish crackers, just as long as he has something to munch while everyone is eating too. I don't think mac and cheese ages well and it could be 15+ minutes before you are at your table.

I actually used to do this often for our oldest. He has severe allergies to milk (had anaphylaxis to it starting at 8 months), egg, peanut, and sesame. I'd drive through McDonald's (a plain burger was always safe for him), and bring it to restaurants. Never had an issue.

I'd be worried about the food being ice cold before you are seated. Unless you order and then someone leaves to go grab it then.

But that $33 isn't really so much for the meal, as it is the fact that he will be sitting in the Beast's CASTLE! Location location location!

yes but it is not required to pay it for a 2 year old. They get to sit in the Beast's CASTLE for free

I would have too. Severe allergies are a very different circumstance

I think with bringing QS to a TS people should do what they want, no one cares. No one who works for Disney cares and other diners should not even notice enough to care as it has zero impact on them. People here on the boards sometimes care, but who cares? They are not on your vacation with you.

BUT for practical reasons such as lack of to-go containers at most park QS locations along with the timing lag between getting your QS food and being checked in and seated at your TS location, it is probably not a very realistic solution.

I’m going to eat at BOG for breakfast when we are down and I plan to share my food with my 20 month old (so almost 2). He eats far more then his sister did at that age so I’ll also probaby bring something in for him as well (it’s breakfast so Cheerios in a baggie most likely).

Regarding the food not being hot, most kids eat food after it is cooled to room temperature (at least mine do, at that age I’m more worried about them burning themselves on the food then it being piping hot) so if you want to bring in Mac and cheese that would probably work as well - and more importantly you know what your son eats, If that’s Mac and cheese great! and as others have said no one should care. If an adult was doing that for themselves that would be rather odd but bringing it in for a child that’s 2, seriously who cares.

if you do decide to bring in something remember they can not reheat for you as this is a government rule they can not get around
