We are embarking on our first trip to Disney world later this year and have reserved our table at the "be our guest" restaurant. Can you request where to dine? i.e. in the Ballroom?

Which meal? For breakfast and lunch you seat yourself. For dinner I'm sure you can make the request when you check in but it may mean waiting longer for a table if it's not what's available at the time.

You can always request, but may have to wait longer at dinner. For breakfast and lunch, you seat yourself.

Assuming dinner - reasonable requests may be honored.

Our experience - we asked for the more intimate West Wing upon arrival. Cast member then gave us an approximate wait time that was a few minutes longer than had we wanted the Ballroom.

Yes, you can request a specific room but I've always been quoted an extra 30-45 minute wait. I opted to take the first table open instead. You can always stand up and tour the rest of the restaurant while waiting for your meal- the servers I've had often encourage it.

we sat ourselves =

Yes, at breakfast and lunch the service is Counter service, and you seat yourself. At dinner you are seated as it is Table service.

OP- I liked the Ballroom at dinner. (Or whatever they are calling the main large dining room.) I think that no matter where you sit in the West WIng you will find that thee will be folks taking pictures. As a poster said earlier, servers encourage this.

As others have said, you can request the room but may have to wait longer for it.

We prefer sitting in the ballroom. We've sat in the West Wing twice for dinner and once was right next to the rose... people were in there constantly walking around and taking pictures. It took a little away from the overall experience.

FYI - the West Wing is VERY dark - and people coming in will use a flash to take pictures - it makes you almost go blind while in there

I totally agree. I was one of those people taking pictures! When I walked back to my ballroom table I commented to my husband that I was glad we were in the nicely lit area. It was very very dark in the west wing AND I stood there a good 5+ minutes waiting for the darn picture to change to Beast to get a photo! Sorry diners :(

OOOHHHH - So YOU were one of them blinding me?!?! LOL - JK

Ballroom is my favorite, no matter what meal I'm there for! I feel like I'm actually in the movie
