Be Our Guest on MVMCP Night, observation

This may seem off-topic, but it just my idea of why the ADR are having to be earlier without a ticket. At 7:00 is there big push to get people out of the parks without wristbands, and then it relaxes of a bit after about 8:00. So people I'm sure would get a last minute ADR, and drag it out as long as possible to hang out for the party.
We were at the MVMCP last year and planted ourselves right in front of the castle for the parades and shows, and it was kind of amazing how often they were coming through and back through again to get people out of the park without wristbands. Clearly there are people trying to beat the system and avoid getting kicked out of the park by hiding somewhere so they can stay for the party for free. Although there is always that possibility that they walk past everyone checking and just not realize there is a special event going on. We saw a group being escorted to the front around 10:00 last year, which just makes us think, they just got to hang out for over half the party without paying.

I am not at sure that the majority of people are trying to enjoy Party Perks by scheduling the last minute ADR's. I am pretty confident that they are trying to maximize their park time. I do think the this makes it difficult for CM's to manage, and Disney may be trying to avoid as much confusion as possible.

. I see what you are saying...and that is definitely not right...we have done the party...and it's just ok... wasn't trying to stay for party without paying....guess I was thinking that it wasn't a big deal because we always enjoy parks as late as we can and book a dinner right at Park closing..we get our of dinner generally about an hour after closing and crazy busy crowds have disappeared. We love to do San Angel at 8:45 when Epcot closes at 9:00. I know you can't dine in MK at 7:00 or after without MNSSHP ticket, but heard you could anytime up until then. Our ADR time is 6:50 or 6:55.. we were gonna check in a bit earlier too.

I think it may be a good idea to call and ask how this will impact you if you keep the ADR for this time if you do nto have a ticket. Better to be prepared I think.

What's the date of your reservation? A quick look through the reservations doesn't show a single night that reservations for the restaurant don't close to the general public at 6:15 on a party night. Ticket holder only reservations begin at 6:20. Last year, you indeed could make a reservation up to 6:55 on a party night, but it's definitely changed this year to 6:15. 6:50 or 6:55 isn't going to work without a party ticket.

Our dinner at Be Our Guest in December lasted over 2 hours. Drinks, appetizers, salad, entrée, desert & coffee. Perfectly reasonable for someone walking out around 10:00. I enjoy my stroll out of the Magic kingdom, especially after such a fabulous dining experience. Really - folks are not trying to beat the system or exploited a loophole. They are scheduling a dinner when they want to dine and leaving. It is this type of attitude that keeps me from ever scheduling dinner on a party night. I do not wish to be perp walked passed people who think I am trying to steal a look at something for free.

If I wanted to attend the party I would.

1. A lot of people last year were literally trying to run away from the CM taking them out from dinner to the gate during a party.

2. They've had to institute rules about not shopping or using restrooms at 7 because people try to hide and stay.

People are jerks, and Disney are adjusting rules to deal with it in ways that don't include "having an army of former football players with handcuffs to walk people out." They are also trying to clear the park out for the enjoyment of the people paying the ticket price. It is that simple.

Yeah, but there are still people out there who believe that THEY are the exception to all that. Disney's not going to tell them what they're gonna do.

I paid a lot to be HERE they can't kick me out before 7!

...they aren't. They're just saying you can't dine at certain venues after certain times.

Where are you getting these times from?

I'm not the poster you were replying to, but it's definitely 6:15pm for BOG as the last timeslot before you need a ticket. Because I was playing with the timeslot and I booked a 6:10pm, 6:20pm and 6:30pm at different stages to see what was the latest I could get BOG without ticket.

Agree 100%. I get a sense that this is a sensitive topic, whenever someone posts this reservation at 6:55pm on party night question, I do feel that when someone posts this question, sometimes you get comments to make you feel that "you're cheating the system", or "you're trying to sneak into the park without ticket".

But the people who are posting this question are not trying to break the rules, they are trying to follow the rules by asking what is the latest time they can book their reservation.

Having said that, if Disney allows for reservation right up to 6:55pm, then I'll book it right up to 6:55pm, if they only allow for up to 6:20pm, then I'll book it at 6:20pm, I have no intention of sneaking into the park, I'd just want to maximize my time in the parks within the boundary that Disney allows for

the problem isn't the people who aren't trying to cheat the system, the problem is the people who are. So the rules are adjusted to them, and the other people get really upset, especially if they cannot GET a 6:10 ADR, but can get a 6:45. Unfortunately, the new ruleset says that the 6:45 ADR is reserved for those with party tickets.

The person who wants to dine but not attend the party can be bitter about it, but hoping that because their motives are pure they will be allowed is likely a bad practice leading to further anger and disappointment.

Correct. What many are trying to do is warn the people who have a "damn the torpedos, I'll change their minds with my winning personality" or a "they allowed up until 6:55 last year" attitude. Disney changed the rules this year...it's plainly written in black and white. No party ticket, no dining at BoG after 6:15....reservation or not. Checking in early won't help, either.

I am happy with this new rule. I hope it will help them clear the park of non party guests after 7pm. I do feel bad for the CMs at the restaurants this year!

I will be going to MK on a party night and not attending the party. I want to maximize my time too. As alternative, we have our dinner reservation for Ohana that night. We'll leave MK before 7 and won't have to stress about dinner.

Just checked in MDE. Sun Sept 18th is a party night. I was mistaken... my ADR is for Tony's Town Square not BOG...but the time is 6:55. And as I said, I did not get the message about party tickets when making my online reservation.

I feel badly for them as well, it is not going to be pretty.

I can only think that the lack of a warning is either a mistake or due to Tony's location, but if I had that ADR I woudl be really sure that I was going to be allowed in. THe last thing I would want to do is prance up to Tony's at 6:45, all easy to eat my chicken parm, and find out that not only will I not be allowed in, but I am out of luck at all the monorail restaurants as well because they are booked solid. I am not going to try to tell you what to do, but I will say that as far as DIsney is concerned, there are times when the customer is not always right.

Tony's doesn't have a warning. You should be fine. It looks like restaurants closer to the exit have later times that don't require a party ticket. Tony's has no reservations past 7 anyway that I can tell.

Tony's is also easier to walk people back from. The BOG problem was that there's no easy way to walk people out without them trying to make a break.

You should be fine. I looked on Disney's dining reservation page for several different party nights and on all of them Tony's closes at 7 PM without a "Special Ticketed Event" notation. Most likely it is because Tony's is so close to the park exit.
