Be Our Guest frustration

Thanks guys, I will keep checking. If nothing opens up I have no issue doing lunch. I was hoping for dinner only because I read very mixed reviews about lunch and that it is way more chaotic/loud than the dinner atmosphere.

Our reviews: (we think lunch is better than dinner)
LUNCH:
. . . tuna or chicken nicoise - good, but light on olives
. . . croque monsieur - nice, but Béchamel needs more nutmeg
. . . turkey on a warm baguette - average, nice dijon
. . . roast beef sandwich - tasty, but slightly tough
. . . braised pork - recommended
. . . vegetable quiche - wife liked it (men don't eat such)
DINNER:
. . . pork rack chop - the pasta out-shined the pork
. . . braised pork - recommended
. . . chicken breast - nicely done and recommended
. . . pan-seared salmon - cooked well, but average taste
. . . grilled strip steak - good, not great, steak
. . . sautéed shrimp and scallops - only average
. . . oven-baked ratatouille - average

Well, today my window opened up for dining reservations and I started trying to book right befor 6.......nothing available for our entire 5 day trip. So frustrating how the system works. At least back in the day you had a chance with the castle breakfast because you had to try each morning, same as everyone else but with being able to book 10 days ahead now it really limits you, unless your staying longer because there were tables available on my check out day which we couldn't do even if we wanted to leave late because we have a weekday AP and its a Saturday :(

same for me too ... guess I'll keep trying. :confused3

I was at MK last Saturday and tired to get a BOG reservation all week while at work. I had a browser open and just constantly kept refreshing the page throughout the week. Finally, two days before I left one popped up and I was able to get it. Just be persistent.

We've eaten there for lunch once and dinner twice, all in a 10 day period in March (2014). My kids joined us, mid-trip and, on a whim, I tried to get a last minute dinner reservation only one day in advance. Got it! The 24 hour cancellation policy gods evidently smiled upon us!

Based on the meals we tried, Rusty Scupper reviews are spot-on. Notice- best meal is Braised pork- also available at lunch and only $12.99! It was so good! And I'm not a veggie lover but I could hardly shovel those roasted vegetables in fast enough. They were so good. Agree about the salmon and sandwiches. Good but not special. The cauliflower purée or whatever it's called was great! Strawberry cupcake- excellent. We each ordered a different cupcake and split them all. We all agreed strawberry was the best. All available for lunch!

And while there was a little more hustle and bustle at lunch, we did get in and out much quicker at lunch and at Disney, time is (usually) a big deal. Also, at lunch, you get to have a look at each of the three dining rooms and choose a seat in whichever one you wish. At dinner, you are, of course, seated.

I wouldn't hesitate to do lunch over dinner. Loved it!

Lunch seems to be better than dinner anyway. To me BOG is definitely more for the ambiance and newness than for the food at dinner. We were lucky enough to get an ADR there last year, but we weren't impressed with our selections at all. My husband's food in particular was really gross. He got the lamb I think. I got the chicken and it was just ok. And the service was spotty. You could keep trying for cancellations but I wouldn't worry to much about it if I couldn't get one and I'd do lunch instead. If you arrive early your wait for lunch shouldn't be to long if you can't get a fastpass.
Ditto for is. We lucked into a reservation and weren't that impressed. Looking forward to trying for lunch.

When I click on the lunch link it is only taking me up to June 10? I forget how far in advance it opens up?

You also won't get to see Beast....that was my favorite part! Keep checking and good luck. :goodvibes

You can only see the first 7 days of your trip. Also, actual FP reservations can be made only through June 30 at the moment.

Keep checking. I was frustrated on our 180 day mark too because NOTHING was available the entire week we are there... Nov 12-18. We only needed to make 2 ADR's since we are doing QSDP. Just a couple days ago, there were quite a few openings for a few of the days during our week. Kind of odd that out of nowhere they start showing up, but we don't want BOG anymore. We had a backup plan. Must be the ADR Hoarders, cancelling some! ::yes::

Lunch is entirely different. Not an ADR but a fastpass...
