Be Our Guest Breakfast - prices Ohhh la la!!

Disney dining prices have always been high, since they have an advantage over their customers: convenience of location. Food prices continue to increase over the last eight years nationally too. Disney is about making a profit too. They can also raise prices to increase people to use the DDP options too, as its always nice to get customers to pay Disney for things in advance of their trip too, while modifying menus at will.

Can adults still order kids meals at BOG? $14 doesn't seem TOO bad for scrambled eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, and pastries. The menu on the WDW website says for kids 9 and under, but I had heard adults could order kids meals at WDW. We'll be paying OOP if that makes a difference. Our last trip, I ordered a kids meal at lunch at BOG. I have a reservation for breakfast this time, but if I can't order a kids meal, I'm canceling.

Yes you can order a kid's meal. Just be aware that it is a tiny, tiny amount of food. You may get 1/2 an egg, 1 piece of bacon, and 3-4 bites of fruit.

That's ridiculous! I cancelled my BOG breakfast and booked Crystal Palace instead. I still haven't gotten the day I wanted based on the crowd calendars but I'll keep checking. Thanks!

My family of four ADORED breakfast at BOG! We were super happy to get pics on an empty Main St, the castle is beautiful and the food was very good. We had the meat/cheese tray, the eggs florentine, the cronut, french toast and a cupcake. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered.

Yes, the prices are ridiculous and I was actually angry about it while planning our visit. ALL of Disney pricing seems ridiculous!

I think the trick is to go to Chef Mickey's the day before you go to BOG. That way, you're still so mad about forking over $161 that you think $100 is a great deal. :rolleyes1

-------I had to edit because I realized that our bill was more like $100 for BOG!!
We were still happier with BOG than with CMs though. We've seen Mickey and the gang before so that is one buffet that is off the list for us!

On both of our previous trips, we had 8am ADRs at Crystal Palace and definitely loved getting pictures on an empty Main Street. We also really enjoyed our meal at CP both times and it definitely filled us up until later in the afternoon. I thought we might try BOG as an alternative this time, while still having the benefit of early morning pictures in front of the castle. I just can't justify paying that much and not feeling like we'll at least have a wide variety to choose from to fill our bellies. We really liked BOG for lunch on our last trip, so we're planning to go at lunch again.

I've read terrible reviews of Chef Mickey's so we definitely won't be paying for that meal! We're staying offsite, so most of our breakfasts will be at our condo. The only ones we'll do will be CP and Akershus, assuming the new Frozen ride will be opening at 9am. If not, I'll likely cancel that ADR since we've done it before and there are other places to meet the princesses.

Thanks for your input!
Kara

Can someone please advise, how do you make a reservation for a quick service meal? Do I just make a reservation with the regular system for a BOG breakfast?

Yes, use the regular service like you will do for dinner. It's the only restaurant where you need reservation for breakfast or for lunch, even it's a Quick service.

Thanks. I wished I had known this earlier, will probably be tough to get reservations 3 and a half months out but will give it a try.

ok, will do, although I would imagine family size could make it more difficult with our family of 7. I know a few years ago when I tried for a royal table reservation it was challenging because of we weren't 4 people or less.

Our trip is on a pretty strict budget, but I would consider this as a PPO ADR. Getting into the park early (empty main street pics), and getting to ride 7DMT with little wait, is worth the expense IMO. Plus if cost is really an issue, you can share entrees, or have breakfast food in the room for the adults, and just buy the kids meals, etc. Its a lot cheaper than fireworks parties, and has more value.

We plan a trip by surprise (57 days) and i got BOG 2 Times, you have to check very often
Good for you @tomatecerise! Those BOG ADRs are hard to score. Happy for you! :-) ps I've noticed your posts this past year & want to thank you for giving so much back to the Boards. I remember posting with you on the Fall Free Dining Watch thread last year. So happy that you have taken the time to come back & help out others on the Boards with your up to date information! cheers!

so in everyone's opinion would it be worth it to use our quick service meal for the day? (2 adults and 1 child) or should we order small/pay out of pocket and save our quick service for later in the day?

LOL at Chef Mickey's. We ate there our first trip back in 2007 and it was horrible then.

We liked eating at BOG, but we just ordered for two because I knew my four-year-old wouldn't eat much. I'm not big on pastries, either, so whether they were fresh or thawed, I couldn't say. My older daughter had the eggs Florentine, I had the open-faced sandwich, and the toddler had the ham and fruit from our dishes. Now if I went with the family of six? We probably wouldn't do it at all. Or the ones who sleep in would meet up with the early risers later on. I've been to so many character meals, I sort of dread them at this point. At least at BOG I can eat and get out.

Are you eating there for breakfast? Price out where you'd eat later and let that be your guide. I would imagine BOG for breakfast will be more expensive than any other QS meal you could have at the MK (assuming you're staying there for the day).

I haven't been to BOG yet, but if I were you, I would figure out what your family would order at BOG and also at your other QS choice, then add up the prices using on-line menus. Pay cash for the cheaper meal and use your QS credits for the more expensive order.

Since you have 3 people, you could use one QS credit to order an adult meal to share. You would still get the pastries and you could get a cupcake OOP if you thought you needed more. That leaves you with 2 more credits to get lunch or dinner to share later. You can now use all credits for adult meals, so you should be able to find something to feed all of you.

I understand it's an expensive counter service, but if I'm reading your post correctly, if you're a family of four, you can just order two meals instead of four and split them? I would think you could choose to pay OOP for those two meals if you want to save your QS credits. I won't speak for anyone else, but essentially for us, breakfast at BOG is just a less expensive morning magic hour; after a brief nosh at BOG, we should be able to get to SDMT before the rope droppers get back there. We're really not going there for the food.
