Be Our Guest Breakfast Price Increase

I have 2 pre park ressies for BOG in 2 weeks and am very disappointed that Disney increased the already ridiculous price. I was willing to pay it so that we could get first dibs on SDMT and not have to rush with the masses at park opening. The thing that frustrates me the most is that I already have FP booked and did not include SDMT. Of course at this late date there are none available so I cannot cancel BOG if I want to ride SDMT with a short wait. It would be nice if Disney would offer a heads up of say 60 days before the price hike so that all of our planning isn't wasted.

Disney could solve this problem, & make the company even higher BOG breakfast profits, whilst giving the guest something hard-to-get, or impossible-to -get.
Disney could actually change breakfast to TRUE Prix Fixe, requiring guests to pay for an entree(no sharing nor ala carte in lieu of).
Also, adults would pay for an adult entree with no option of a child one.
ALL Disney would have to do would be to GIVE every breakfast guest a same day voucher to exchange for a same day paper FP for either 7DMT or the Anna & Elsa Meet & Greet for a morning or early afternoon time slot. Exchange would take place inside the Castle.
A win-win!!!!!
Oh, they could charge $19 child/$29 adult--STILL a win-win!!

It wouldn't surprise me at all if some guests with pre park ressies skip the breakfast and just pay the $10 penalty for not canceling.

Sorry candy0730, my solution to your quote got included,
as if it were part of your quite,
instead of replied to after.

These prices are a joke. Would be $80 for our family pre-tax and possibly drinks. All for a couple sandwiches, maybe some eggs and cereal. Have reservations for our trip in June, but I don't know if it's worth the convenience anymore. Honestly, this just encourages people more to show up and order a coffee to be there ahead of time.

On my recent trip my sister took her family to BOG for breakfast.

Her 1 year old got cereal, for 13$...and finished it and wanted another. 26$ FOR CEREAL!!!!!!

I guess it really did not matter because everything else was apparently so horrid they asked for a manager, who comped the whole meal.

And this is a family, that accepts quick serve for what it is. Not habitual complainers.

I know Disney food is expensive. To a degree they have you trapped. But BOG breakfast is, IMHO, SOOOOOO far over the top, insane expensive.

I tend to accept the prices for what they are. But really...13$ plus for cereal is taking it too far.

However, the only way it will stop is if people stop going.

This all goes back to Pete's rant on the podcast yesterday, though.

Yeah, these prices are pretty outrageous. But, y'know what? BOG is one of the most popular restaurants on property. And it still will be even with these price increases. That's the law of supply-and-demand. If the demand for a product continues to rise, the price will continue to rise as well. And why shouldn't it? Disney is a business. The whole point of Walt Disney World existing is not to provide you a great experience. It's for Disney to make money. Providing a great experience is just the means to that end.

If people stop eating at a particular restaurant because Disney has pushed the prices too high, I guarantee you they'll lower the prices. But until that happens, there's simply no reason for them to do so.

That's what I'll be doing! Coffee/cupcake and go. I won't even take up a table for more than 10 minutes.

And if that continues to happen it will become a flat fee for the meal, and a cup of coffee will cost the same as a full meal.

It includes, fresh fruit cup, pastries, and a drink. It's not just a bowl of cereal.

We went for lunch last year.

It wasn't that great.

I think Disney finally hit a brick wall of pricing. They flew too close to the sun.

I'm more than willing to pay a certain premium because this is Disney, and it's their park, yada yada. I'll do that at other meals that are not really anything special, but they have characters walking around or a show or something. This is some very basic breakfast food, in small portions, served cafeteria style that was already well overpriced. This is a breaking point. Disney can upcharge, but there has to be some kind of hook. Getting into the park early can't be the only thing.

I understand and I agree with you. My point, though, is that as long as people are willing to pay the prices, Disney is going to continue to raise them, regardless of whether they are ridiculous or not. Perhaps this will be the breaking point for enough people that they will have to lower them. But somehow, I doubt that Be Our Guest will stop being in demand.

That was for 2 portions. They could have easily told him no and waited until they left to buy something else.
yes, if you want a good value on all you can eat cereal you can book a breakfast buffet and the 1 year old gets to gorge himself on cereal for free. The prices are ridiculous enough without doubling them, that is not the typical case and few people would buy their child a second kid's meal at a restaurant but would probably supplement it with a snack.

Point is it cost 26$ to get breakfast for a 1 year old. If you do not think that is ludicrous we live in very different worlds.

I would have put my foot down at $13 for the first bowl of cereal let alone order a second one. Each person is different and the family in this situation did what worked for them but there is no way I would pay $13 in the first place. I would have shared my meal with the child then picked up something else outside BoG if they were still hungry.

In this case, this is what our family is choosing to do. We ate breakfast at BoG twice last year but have decided this year we will not book a BoG breakfast. Hopefully others who feel the price is too steep may do the same. I feel badly for those who have already booked this and are looking forward to going but are now faced with such a steep price increase or cancelling something they've been looking forward to.

I never thought that the breakfast choices were all that great to begin with! With the price increase it is easier than ever to pass up BOG breakfast!

I ate there in January and both my husband, my son and I all left hungry. My 3 year old eats more than half a piece of french toast which was what was on his plate! It was a good thing we were on the dining plan.

You are right! The prices were totally reasonable. They needed to raise them.

I think all restaurants should leave people hungry and needing to go somewhere else.

13 dollars FOR ONE PORTION to use you terms is crazy. Maybe the should cut the portion size in half....then it would take 4 portions! "Portion" is a relative, arbitrary term that has no correlation to any form of measurement.

It is a quick serve restaurant! Why should you have to go to another quick serve restaurant after already having gone to one?

But if that is how you think the parks should be, that is your right.

I hope they triple ticket prices to cut down on the crowds.

You should not have to share your meal with a child at a quick serve restaurant!

Is that the kind of restaurants you want in the park?

All in all, it does not matter to me, I would not put that garbage into my body.

I never said it was reasonable. But if it was so out of line it was doubly silly to let the child order a second portion. But it was comped anyway, right? I don't go to WDW expecting food prices to be reasonable. Just like any other venue where you are pretty much a captive, prices are high. But the costs are not hidden, they are not kept secret. I wouldn't go anywhere, WDW or at home, if I wasn't comfortable paying what they were charging.
