Be Our Guest Breakfast Price Increase

Oh dear. It doesn't even include the drink now! That's skyrocketed. I know it's a holiday so we are bit easier with money but that's still quite a significant increase!

It turns out it does, with the entree purchase. The pastries and drink still come with entree.

So, basically, by offering a la carte beverages they're trying to increase incremental revenue when a party of 5 order 2 kids meals.

I have 2 pre park ressies for BOG in 2 weeks and am very disappointed that Disney increased the already ridiculous price. I was willing to pay it so that we could get first dibs on SDMT and not have to rush with the masses at park opening. The thing that frustrates me the most is that I already have FP booked and did not include SDMT. Of course at this late date there are none available so I cannot cancel BOG if I want to ride SDMT with a short wait. It would be nice if Disney would offer a heads up of say 60 days before the price hike so that all of our planning isn't wasted.

That's what's happened to me and why, if it's allowed, I'll only be ordering a cupcake (Disney coffee is a vile swill unfit for human consumption IMHO.) and nothing else. I'm probably going to drop the early BOG ADRs from my plans from now on but for this trip I'll be keeping my ADR but changing my order.

I'm ordering coffee and a cupcake for breakfast next Tuesday. While I don't normally eat a cupcake for breakfast at home, it's usually a piece of toast or something along those lines. Not a big eater. And until Disney enforces any rules for a minimum purchase, that's what I'm getting! I have an 8:20am reservation.

CM I spoke with today suggested that as well.

But never, ever, ever, believe anything a CM tells you. Call back now and you'll find a CM to tell you the complete opposite. Call 10 times and 5 will say yes, 5 will say no. Guaranteed.

Without a doubt, they will be changing their pricing and ordering requirements FAST when enough people order just coffee. As always, enough people abuse a loop hole, it will slam shut.

How is it a loop hole? Disney made things a la carte with very high priced entrees. If I go to Cosmic Rays, ordering just a drink, and skipping the high priced 1/2 chicken entree is not a loop hole, so neither is this.

Now I agree with you that Disney will do something pretty quick to change all of this AGAIN, but what they do remains to be seen.

Why, exactly, are people checking with CMs about this policy (just ordering a beverage or a cupcake, for instance) and asking whether Disney will change it? Aren't you guys happy that there could be a way to enjoy a BoG breakfast that won't cost an arm and a leg? I honestly don't understand the kerfuffle and sincerely hope that this won't have changed by the time I travel in early June. Don't cut off your nose to spite your face, please, or we will all suffer the consequences.

I actually called to book a BOG reservation for DH on the same morning I got a CRT for DD and myself and mentioned the price increase, thanks. :) I don't see why you had to single me out with assumptions?

Edit: Not that I have to explain myself, but the three of us are staying for 5 nights on DPP, while my extended family (party of 6) are joining us for the weekend only and would be paying OOP. This is where my first BOG reservation cost became a problem, but why we are getting a BOG reservation for later on in the week for just DH. Sadly, the price increase will make it more likely mostly DPP participants will be the only ones actually /eating/ there.

I spoke with a CM to see if they would honour the prices at which I ordered my meals 2 weeks ago - answer was a firm no. But she said if "guests would prefer side items, you are more than welcome to just order that".

So I will probably change my meal to a kids meal, get a cupcake for dd2 (who will have eaten breakfast at our resort anyway) and keep Dh's full size meal. No idea what the rest of my party will want to do but at least they have options.

I've learned that lol. Just wanted to let people know that when I mentioned the breakfast price has increased she said, "Yes it looks like they may be moving toward prix fixe." (paraphrased but essentially)-- I know that honestly has little/no more clout than many regular Disboard posters.

I'm sorry to hear that, but glad you found a way to work around it. Maybe DD's meal will be enough to share with pastries included as well!

I apologize for that! your post just happened to be the last one I read before posting my response, ergo the easiest for me to quote, but I really meant no disrespect to you in particular in trying to get my point across. Forgiven? :daisy:

That's good to know! Still expensive but it hurts less lol.

Oh goodness, thank you, most definitely forgiven! And I'M sorry too! I've felt a little attacked this morning for publicly declaring we were keeping our BOG breakfast ADR for 6 but probably not eating as much due to price increase so I got a little sensitive!

We've eaten there twice (both with DP) and even without the price increase had chose not to go back next trip. Even with the free DP we won't be eating there! Those prices are ridiculous!!!

Actually more if as the new menu implies drinks are no longer included.....

I wonder if perhaps the drinks are now listed as separate so that people who do share a meal can order one meal and perhaps a coffee for the other person. My husband and I each ordered an adult breakfast and our girls (8 and 3 at the time) shared with us. DH and I got coffee with the meal but we made the girls drink water because we did not see a way to order separate chocolate milks for them when we did our orders online. We would have ordered drinks for them if it had seemed easy to do so.

AGREE.

I am sure they sat around and said "Hey for all those folks sharing, they are also sharing the unlimited drink fountain, which you aren't supposed to share, because there is no option to buy a drink - so let's add a drink to the menu so they can buy everyone a drink. It's money we aren't making. Hey let's add that cupcake everyone must have and who cares if it used to be $2.99, we'll make a fortune at $4.99, guests won't care. We'll sell thousands. That will surely make up for all the folks not eating and money we are losing out on."

So now when those tables that shared a meal or two are now just buying a cupcake to share to get inside the illusive building to take pictures or pre-park hours ....... they will sit dumbfounded and wonder how their income went down after raising prices. :confused3
