Be Cautious With This Ebay WDW Ticket Seller

I think claiming that it is a scam based on just the info you posted is going a bit far- remember "innocent unless proved guilty". Just because the seller does not answer questions properly does not mean it is a scam, it just might be that the seller is busy, there is a language barrier etc.. I would not choose to buy anything from such a seller, but I would not label him as dishonest either. Now, would I buy Disney Park Hopper from ebay? No.

I have bought 7DPHPs 2 different times, both from Disney's official website. (the last ones I bought were January of this year) Both times the passes had 4 options. Have they changed the number of options recently? I hope not, I think that the way they are is a great deal, comes out to about $40-45 (don't hold me to the math) per Park day, and the options are "free". I have actually lost a pass TWO times (I know, airhead-I left them at the gate one time and fast pass another time.) and they were cheerfully replaced within minutes of my request. I had my original receipt with me at all times, anticipating how stupid I can be at times of great excitement!

I would buy a lot of things from ebay, but not something that had the potential of ruining my vacation on the spot.:earsgirl:

No, but the fact that he is NARU'd speaks volumes. Something isn't on the up and up. May not be his fault, but somethings amiss. I repeat, this is not the auction I questioned, but it's the same picture and wording. I didn't have eBay send me a copy of my note to the seller, so unfortunately I can't look back at it.

I have no doubt it was a scam. The person never sold a disney ticket before on ebay, they are not registered anymore and DMRick said she saw the same exact wording on another auction with a different name. The account was probably hijacked and the REAL seller or ebay caught on.

The lister has been suspended. Still not willing to call it a scam, and until an explaination is forthcoming, which I doubt it will be, I will think someone hijacked his account.

I will think someone hijacked his account.

Suspended, NARU'd..all the same thing. We'll prob never know what this was about.

Yes, that is what I think, based on what he has sold in the past, and his feedback.

I bought from someone recently that became Naru'd and it does make me see that you never know what people are up to..she sent a note of explanation, and she would have been better off to just say..oops, I forgot to pay my bill. By the time she was done explaining, I sure wasn't going to send any of my money to her. She now has about a dozen negs (she got them before she was naru'd..wonder how many she would have had, if she hadn't been naru'd, since you can't leave feedback at that time), on what was high, great looking feedback. She got caught doing something she shouldn't have, and I and others ended up paying more for her things than we should have if the auction had gone right.

As a seller on ebay i can tell you it means nothing for some other seller to have same picture and wording as yours.I had a guy use my own personal picture of my item plus use my item description in his auction for the same item i had.Mind you it was my own personal picture and i made up the description myself. He stole it which is easy to do i might add.I sent him an email warning him if he did not get my photo off his ad and quit using my item description i would turn it over to Ebay! The next day he had his own photo and own wording. So this does happen to sellers often on ebay i have learned!

Oh, sure it does..but usually the selling options, payment options etc are different. Generally the lazy people steal the description and pic..not the other stuff. These were not different. I've had my photo's stolen..and it really hurts if they use them direct, because then I get charged through Vendio. Sometimes I know they are being stolen, if I see that .10 charge on my account at Vendio.

This guy seems to have had a great rep so far, and these aren't anything like he has sold in the past, so I'm still sticking with my hijack theory LOL!

By the way, when I catch them, I don't have to send them an email. I just change my picture to the following wording:

Free shipping to anywhere in the world!

The pictures gets taken down lickety split.

As someone who has had their account hijacked, I would say it is a big possibility that this person had their account jacked. Mine was about a year ago and it was very distressing.

If you make sure that the seller of WDW tickets has decent feedback and is Paypal verified with a verified address and you call to check the days left on the pass as soon as you get it, I don't see how buying tickets on Ebay isn't 100% safe. Especially considering that selling the tickets online is in fact a misdimeanor and with a verified Paypal member you have their address. I would think that most sellers would be very cooperative in that situation.

and you call to check the days left on the pass as soon as you get it,

You haven't been able to do that in quite some time : (
You'll only know when you get there. Even the Disney store can't tell anymore.

eBay has all the ticket rules listed when you go to sell. Only some states won't let you resell "used" tickets. Most all will let you resell unused tickets.

How does one take over another account for fraudulent purposes? I did not know this could be done. There is definitely something amiss with that auction.

I btw have purchased tickets on Ebay a few years back. One was an excellent deal on 1 day hopper "vouchers" that you redeem at Guest Services for a real hopper. (The kind they give CM's) and the other was for partially used PHP's. Both sellers had great feedback and answered questions in complete sentences.

If they cant form a sentence, I'm not sending my money!

That sucks. I wasn't aware of that. I definitely wouldn't buy tickets then unless I was sure I would get the tickets before I left for WDW and was sure I would be back from WDW within the 30 day Paypal dispute window. IMO it isn't worth the risk.

Disney tickets specifically state they are non-transferable after purchase except as gifts. This should be an implicit contract that goes along with the purchase. Are there state laws in place regarding tickets that void the non-transferable clause?

Disney can have the RULE that they are non transferrable, but that doesn't make it a law (or misdimeanor). You aren't signing anything (or even saying verbally) that would make that a contract. I sure wouldn't want to call the police and tell them to arrest someone for selling me a ticket I knew I shouldn't have bought. I think they would laugh at me.

Does yours say as gifts? Mine don't. I also believe someone wants posted a note from Disney saying unused tickets could be sold.

From Mouseplanet :

Transferal of Admission Media
Admission Media can not be legal transferred to someone else. Once someone has used a multi-day pass or an annual pass, that someone is the ONLY person that legally can use that pass on succeeding days. If you buy partially used passes, you probably won't get caught...but you're committing a misdemeanor in the State of Florida. That's not the kind of lesson you want your kids to learn, now is it?

Another example is that many people every day buy tickets from illegal vendors, having been told that they have 2 or 3 days left. When they come to the gate, they find they have NOTHING.

And that's what Disney does for the hapless folks. Nothing.

It is simply not worth the risk, and it's very unlikely you'll be able to find the con artist to get your money back. Besides, it is not fun spending 45 minutes talking to Disney security on why you're from Michigan trying to use someone's from Massachusetts. Disney knows all the info on that ticket, including where it was purchased.

Simply put, you can't buy and use previously used admission media, and you can't "share" admission media among your party...and you risk much if you attempt to do so.

I'm also pretty sure I read the same thing in the Unofficial Guide. Although it refers to buying, I am sure selling breaks the same law. In the Unofficial Guide they did note that Disney has never pressed charges on anyone for selling tickets, but that did not stop them from doing it at anytime in the future.

And as far as the gifts clause goes, it's listed on tickets purchased at the Disney Store.

but you're committing a misdemeanor in the State of Florida.

Selling used (and maybe even second party tickets, I don't remember) tickets is against the law in Florida..I believe I noted that it was in some states. All tickets, not just Disney, have rules in Florida. (note that Mousesavers is talking about used tickets in Florida). It has nothing to do with what Disney wrote on their tickets..there is no law, for instance in NY to stop me from re-selling a Disney ticket...even if they say non transferable on their media. It isn't against the law in most states. It's a Disney rule, I suspect meant more for Florida than anywhee else, since that is where they are located. And of course to make you think you can't sell your left over tickets. As noted, eBay gives you a list of the rules when you go to sell tickets. Also noted, it does not say on their tickets "except for a gift"..and the quote from Mousesavers doesn't say it's ok for a gift...not that it isn't..otherwise we could never buy tickets for our family. I'm sure it says that in Dis stores, but I haven't seen it..and again, I would have bought them for gifts, even if it didn't say that. Oh, and I also buy them for other people, and they pay me back, so I guess I "sell" tickets LOL. Just another Disney "rule".

I stand by the caution rule. Check out your seller, and as with all things eBay, be careful and use common sense.

Thanks for the clarification. It's confusing when Mouseplanet and the Unofficial Guide don't note that laws vary from state to state.

It's also confusing when some people think Disney's rules are law..although of course just look at the mug/pool hopping/5 in a room threads. I guess everyone knows Disney's rules are just words written on paper LOL.

I'd just like to point out that the quotation above is NOT from MouseSavers! You (and another poster above) are confusing my site with MousePlanet. They are two totally different sites.

This correction may seem silly to some people, but it's a little upsetting to me when people lay the blame (or credit) at my door for something I never wrote.

Back to the topic at hand: I would never buy tickets from eBay, and I do give that advice on my site.
