Be careful with fireworks :(

We "got" to watch Life Flight land in the school parking lot a block from us yesterday because they had to fly a 13 y/o boy (if that old) to the burn unit in Galveston. Apparently, the kid had some fireworks in his pocket and for some reason decided to light *one*. Which of course lit all of them. While they were in his pocket.

Please be careful and make sure you kids know not to play with matches or fireworks without supervision.

my brother use to make fireworks from other ones and one day it blew up in his face a burned of his eyelashes so hewas very lucky and another time he and a friend made a bomb and it didn't blow up on time and his friend went to pick it up and as he did it blew up in his face and it cut his eyeball and there was a big hole in it. they were very stupid but very lucky.

Don't you have laws against fireworks over there?

Over here you can't purchase them unless you have a licence...it is illegal.

In IL it is illegal to have them but they never stop anyone. i am now in IN which is Firecracker central. we have a huge discount store in like everytown.

Many states have laws against fireworks, but people have them anyway. Unless someone complains or gets hurt, they don't do much. In some communities in Louisiana and Texas, you can only purchase fireworks for about 10 days before July 4 and ten days before New Years Day. Then they restrict what can be sold and when they can be shot off.

When I was a kid, a neighbor lit fire crackers and threw them in my direction and blew out my ear drum! I had to wear an ear plug all summer!
Then in 1976 or 1977, two teens put an M80 in the fire extinguisher box at school in my hometown. The M80 exploded, shattering glass everywhere and cutting the jugular of a high school freshman! She passed away an hour later! Since then, all glass doors have been removed from Jersey school fire extinguisher boxes! Fireworks are definitely illegal in Jersey!

They are illegal here in Massachusetts, but a short drive to New Hampshire and they are legal there! Hope this little boy is okay also!

browneyes: Love that book! Highly recommended!...I read it years ago myself and went to read it to my Dd (about 10 yrs. ago)and she told me that her teacher was reading it to them already!!
