So this past weekend, DH and the guys who work for us were replacing about 400 feet of fencing in one of our pastures. The fence is OLD. So we were sinking new wooden posts and replacing the boards. There is a low spot in along the fence-line where, over the last 6 years, the post has slowly been sinking. It had actually sunk so low that the bottom board was half buried in the dirt! Our property is graded in such a way that anytime it rains, the water runs off, down that low spot, into the large valley in the adjacent pasture and out into the creek behind our property. The runoff from the rain is what caused the post to sink over time.

So we thought.

I had DH buy a 12 foot post for that spot so if it sank again, it'd still be well above the ground. I see the guys finish up that spot and I go out to inspect. Their all chuckling. I asked what was so funny and they said, "ask us what we found when we drilled that fence post hole."

Oh no... Was it...was it a cow skeleton?? Living on a large farm (formerly a dairy) I fear digging anywhere for fear of churning up ol' Bessie).

Nope.

He found Aluminum siding...shingles...insulation....

 What? Did the former owner dump trash in that spot and cover it with dirt??

Nope.

It was a double-wide. They drilled through the remnants of the roof. :scared1: I was floored. Seems it was left there to rot and crumble and eventually covered with dirt. So I asked them where they set the new post??

DH smiles and says "Through the kitchen I think." :lmao:

Then all three of them start hysterical laughing...like on the ground in tears.

Ahhhhh...country livin'!

Wow that would be an interesting thing to discover :rotfl:
