Be aware of the weight restrictions on luggage

Also be sure there's nothing else on the scale when they weigh your bags. I nearly got slapped with a $50 fee once, my bag read 83 pounds ... I knew it wasn't that heavy, so I took a closer look ... one of the other check-in agents was kinda leaning over the counter, and had 1 foot on the scale. I told the rep that I was talking to that if my bag was actually over, I'd pay, but that I wasn't about to pay for her co-worker's foot.

Before the airlines started enforcing weight restrictions, DH and I would take one large suitcase for shorter trips and two large ones for longer trips. Now, we just take two suitcases each - which is the allowable limit for all airlines we've flown. Also, the weight limit is higher when flying first class - but we've never had it enforced on us by the first class check-in.

Is that 50lbs per bag or per person?

a few people got me all nerved up about luggage weight restrictions.....the limit for your luggage is 50 lbs.....my brother and his wife went on a cruise this past week and they were fine going down and same clothes coming back was three pounds over.....dirt must weigh more.....anyways......three pounds equaled 25 dollars extra.....we have taken our big stand up scale next door to our neighbors who are also going to Disney with us....and weighed theirs and ours......we seems to be okey.....check to make sure all those who flying out soon

This has been a problem for my family. My mom has needed to consciously cut-down on her packings and we have even been forced to decommission two of our suitcases, both of which are quite large. One was white (and without one of those rolly/handle thingys) and was dubbed "The White Whale" while the other was an even bigger :scared1: (but thankfully wheeled) floral tapestry pattern dubbed "The Tapestry of Doom" as somewhat of a tribute to the now defunct Epcot pageant.

If just figures -- we finally invest in some really expensive hardside luggage, and they lower the weight allowance.

I guess it's back to the cardboard boxes secured w/bungie cords
and duct tape!!!

Ain't Life Grand

I have a carry on bag that I want to use, but I think that it will be to big to carry on

and US AIR is 50 lbs max......so I am not going to stress about it.....we also have hard sided samsonite.....and will continue to use them.....

I get a heavy sign packed on my suitcases (because I roll everything and can fit more in them). But I have not been charged yet!

Thanks for the reminder.
