what has anyone else paid for southwest in may out of hartford or providence and when do you usually buy your tickets?

i always go in november or december and have only used delta.

We flew SW last May out of Bradley/Hartford and bought our tickets on-line as soon as our dates opened up (am guessing it was Jan/Feb.) at about $200ish per person, which was better than Delta's prices. Around late March or so, I noticed that the internet prices available for our flight had dropped to either $79 or $59 per person each way (awesome!), so I rebooked on-line and got a credit. Someone here posted that if you called customer service, they often refund back to cc if your rebook was on the same flight and date, and I did and they did (thank you disboards!).

This year we're going down in August and it seems like a different thing. Our dates are opened way sooner (thought I'd have to wait a few more months) but also hugely more $$. Haven't booked either Delta or SW at these prices, and will wait some more.

Last year I got a DING fare @ the end of March for the first weeken in May for $49 each way out of Bradley. I haven't seen low DING fares like that to FL lately, though.
I'm not sure where you live, but Airtran out of White Plains, NY (just over CT border on the Merritt Pkwy) is offering $84 one way to Orlando in the end of MArch, not sure what the fare is August, but check it out.

We booked our May trip out of Providence in late November at $177 all taxes, N/S, round trip-per person. We were lucky because our returning flight was for May 10 & that was as far as you could go to get a flight at that time. Checked back last week to see if an earlier flight was available the day we leave & it was. It was previously listed as unavailable. We changed to the earlier flight for a fare increase of 40 cents!! I think we were lucky because I've seen alot of unhappy people on these boards lately.
