My family and I returned Sunday after spending 9 days at BCV (6/12-6/20). It was our first June trip to WDW, although not our first summer trip, having spent a week last August at BWV.
BCV and SAB
We checked in at about 4 pm, having been at MK all day. We had room 266, a one-bedroom corner room facing the Quiet Pool. The bedroom had a balcony as well as a LR balcony; the LR balcony was larger than usual because of being on the corner (didnt matter-we spent zero time out there). The room was clean and in good shape, no complaints. We opted to stay at BCV, though BWV is our home resort, because we knew it would be hot and SAB is such a great pool. In the mornings, there were CMs stationed at the clean towel huts, asking for IDs in order to get a wristband. However, a couple of times when we arrived late afternoon at the pool, they had stopped distributing wristbands for the day. I asked a CM, and he said that after a certain time, they dont check. I never felt that the pool was overly crowded, although as the week went on, the crowds seemed to pick up, both at the pool and the parks.
The Weather
Of course, it was VERY hot, though a couple of days the humidity seemed low, which helped. I do LIKE hot weather for swimming, and in that respect, the weather was perfect
The forecast was for rain every day of our stay but it only rained 2 days, and only one of those was heavy. As the week went on, it seemed to be getting hotter and more humid, especially Saturday and Sunday, when even though it wasnt sunny, it was very uncomfortable.
The Parks
How did people do parks in the summer before FastPass?!? There is no way we would have survived Magic Kingdom without FP; we managed to spend about five hours there. The only non-FP attractions we did were Pirates and Hall of Presidents. We also had lunch at LTT (5 minute wait after checking in).
We spent a morning at Future World, and even got a PS for The Coral Reef for 10 minutes from the time I made the phone call. We requested a seat next to the aquarium, waited about 5 minutes, and were seated right next to the fishes. We couldnt have planned it better. It always seems that our best restaurant experiences at WDW are last minute choices that we make.
Our evenings are usually spent wandering World Showcase, but this trip, the heat kept us away. We spent a few evenings at SAB until 10 pm.
The Restaurants
One restaurant we have to go to each trip is Flying Fish. My husband and I ate dinner there while our kids had fun at the Sandcastle Club. We were well taken care of, as usual. The food was great, but the service was better.
All four of us ate at Yachtsman, also a very nice meal. My husband and I split the
Chateaubriand for Two, which we ordered because it looked great out in the display case. We havent been happy with the filet there the last couple of times, but this was very good.
We ate lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern, Coral Reef, Beaches and Cream, and Columbia Harbor House. This was the first time we have eaten at Harbor House. The chicken strip/fish strip combo was pretty good. We ate upstairs seated next to the window and people-watched as we ate. It wasnt crowded upstairs; I dont think others knew there was seating up there.
We ate all of our breakfasts in our room. We also ate at Hurricane Hannas (theyve added a chicken Caesar wrap to their menu-very good).
We had a relaxing trip and we are glad to be back to 75 degree temps! We look forward to our November trip.
