We stayed at the BCV in a studio (#376) from May 28-June 2. This was our first trip as members (we bought our BCV points last May while renting at WLV). Checked in around 5:00 p.m. - got a nice Welcome Home from guard and check in was no waiting and very smooth. Very friendly service at the valet and with our bags.

Originally we were unhappy with the LONG walk to our room, which was almost at the very end of the hall. View was overlooking canal, parking lot and we could see part of the villas pool. But once we discovered that we could park right by the room and go up and down the stairwell, that was very convenient. Only downside was long walk to SAB and going to refill mug, etc.

Our studio was clean except that there were several spider webs (one with spider in it) on the balcony. Of course, that could have been there just from that day - I don't know. The interior was clean. Hallways appeared clean. My only "complaint" was that the studio was not stocked with a bottle opener/cork screw. We bought wine but then had to go back to the Emporium and buy a corkscrew. Not sure if that is provided in the larger villas.

We loved the villas pool for evening swims and we met some nice members there. It was very very hot while we were there so we spent a lot of time at SAB.

My biggest complaint, which is not specific to BCV at all, is that the towels that are provided at SAB really need to be replaced. Many of them are badly stained, old-looking and just gross. They are poor quality and very small as well.

We were pleased that there is a separate line (on the right) at Beaches and Cream for mug refills. I wish that the mugs at Beach Club were as high quality as the ones at Wilderness Lodge, though. The ones at Beach Club do not even have a closure.

We love Beach Club and are very happy that we bought there! We have now tried BCV, VWL and BWV, and Beach Club is my personal favorite just because of the feel of the resort.

We did visit SSR just to look around. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed in it at first glance, but I think it was because most of the resort seemed to be under construction still. That certainly takes away from the present atmosphere. The resort also seemed nearly deserted - it was eerie, almost as if it wasn't open yet. I guess people must have still been at the parks. We went on June 1 in the middle of the day. The resort looks very nice from Downtown Disney. I was surprised at how small the main pool was for such a large resort. We were also underwhelmed at the main lobby, which was nice but seemed very small for a large resort.

We had a great trip and can't wait to be back!

Glad to hear you had a good trip. Your positive stay at BCV may alleviate the concerns that people have been having based on other reports.

Just an FYI -- whenever you need anything, like the corkscrew, a call to housekeeping can usually provide it in a flash. It took me several years and reading these boards to learn that a toaster could be had that way. They've since made toasters "standard" in the studios.

Glad you had a great trip!

And those long walks down the hallways always seem to have a positive. It just all depends on how you look at it!

Great report!! Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing!!

Thank you for posting your report about my "home". Sometimes I wonder if the fireworks from Illuminations cause a lot of that grit we see on the balcony of the BCVs?

Yeah, spiders on the balcony, that'll definitely alleviate my concerns... I honestly don't want to sound like I'm raining on JLS' parade, I'm happy that she enjoyed her stay at BCV. But I don't like how we seem to be getting complacent about dirty balconies and old towels (and even inferior mugs!!). Okay maybe I'm going a little too far with the mugs... I love BCV as much as the next owner, but the dirty balcony thing has been going on for months now and that's just not right. Flame away if you must.

You are not "raining" on my parade, Judson - I agree with you that we shouldn't have to put up with anything "inferior" but the mugs and the SAB towels are a Yacht and Beach club resort issue that DVC shares in, not something that I would blame on DVC. The spider webs on the balcony is not the best, but it also wasn't a big deal to me - not the kind of thing I would make a complaint about unless it was really bad. Since we don't get daily house keeping and spiders can come along and "web" at any time, the balconies won't always be clean. We discovered the spider webs a few days into our stay.
