We just returned from our trip to BCV. This was originally planned as a big family trip for my mom and step-dads 25th Anniversary, but for one reason or another the other 19 members of my family ended up canelling so it was just my family of 4 and my parents. We were in room 553 a dedicated 2 bedroom and my parents were in a 1 bedroom just 2 doors down, room 557. Both rooms were in really good order. Both rooms also had a beautiful Illuminations view! I had a light bulb burn out while there and maintenance was there to fix that before we returned to the room. Also, the dryer lint screen was completely missing (who would take that?) It was also quickly replaced.

There was a signed card from Mickey and Minnie in my parents room for thier anniversary and a really nice pin that said Happy Anniversary! That was a very nice surprise.

New things this trip were:

Illuminations Dessert Party - this was wonderful, we were roped off in the lower UK section with 3 small cocktail table that had table cloths and votive candles. The dessert itself was just a bonus, I would pay the money just for the private view. I would love to view illuminations like this every day. It was like our own private little world. The two CMs we had were also awesome, they were serving us coffee and drinks the minute we were done drinking. They really don't have to serve us, it is more like a buffet, but they kept coming over to our table and asking us if we wanted a refill. I can't express enough how much we all enjoyed this!

Cirque de Solei - this was our first time for this. We really enjoyed it. I ended up being part of the show because we were in the last roll of the first section. The "clowns" at the beginning came out with the boxes and handed them all to me stacking them right up. My kids really enjoyed that!

Family Magic Tour - we ended up the only family signed up for this so it was extra special, I guess they can take up to 20 at a time, but we were the only family who signed up. I had not told my kids about this in advance so it was a wonderful surprise. Peter Pan spent a really long time with us. I would highly reccomend this for those with younger ones.

Rehitching Ceremony at Garden Grill - my parents just loved this. We ended up having Mickey as their Witness. It was wonderful.

The whole trip ended up being really great! I was really trying to make things special for my mom since the rest of her kids and their families couldn't come. I think she ended up having a fabulous time!

I was not glad to be retuning to Michigan and can't wait to be back. Only 4 months to go!

Sounds like you had a great trip!

How did you book the Illuminations Dessert Party?? Does it run every night?

TIA!
Chris

We will be at BCV in 3 days in a 2 bdr. so glad to hear everything was great. What a great time with your parents!

What kind of desserts did they serve for Illuminations?

Yes, please let us know how you got reservations for the Illuminations Dessert Party. Sounds like a great way to surprise DH next trip. Thanks

An illuminations dessert party is held during the normal illuminations time. There are several areas around the World Showcase where you can have one. You will see these areas roped off during illuminations quite often. It is just a private event and they have it roped off with a CM standing gaurd there to not let anyone in the area. The nice thing is that you just arrive at 8:30 and sit at a nice little table and drink some coffee and eat dessert. No crowds around you at all, no waiting for your spot or trying to find a good spot. There are several different dessert options to choose from. We just had ice cream, assorted toppings and fruit. I beleive that was $25 per person. There is also some set-up fees. I originally had 21 people booked for this when my whole family was coming. I beleive there is a minimum of 20 people. But they let us drop the number down and pay for only 10. I am at work, but I can post the number that I called later if anyone wants it. It would be fun to have group of DISers book this together.

Wonderful report as usual Terry. I wish I could somehow get your room when we are down in Dec. My parents are coming too - their first Disney trip in 10 years and their first ever to a Disney resort.

Thanks for the excellent trip report. I'm delighted to hear what a wonderful time you all had! :D

The dessert sounds wonderful, how far in advance can it be booked?? And of course through whom LOL.... Glad to hear they let you drop your number of guests down to ten!!!

This would be fun! Maybe it can be like the cruises!! Weshared one with 2 DIS families and had a blast....and if desserts were involved...sign us up!

I would like this info as well!

I actually booked this 11 months ago right after I booked the rooms. As for the number, I will post that when I get home from work! It really was a wonderful time. Its not cheap by any means, I think I ended up paying around $400.00, (around $40 per person with all the associated set up fees since I ended up actually paying for 10 even though there were only 6 of us) but I paid more than that for the 6 of us to go to Cirque de Solei and as much as i enjoyed that I really enjoyed the dessert party more.

I was just asking my husband if there was a way we could justify doing this for every trip?

Aren't you glad you were able to create such wonderful memories for your parents/family? Thanks for taking the time to post...oh, and hurry back!!!

Terry,
How do you do this? My aunt and unlce are celebrating 50 years while we are there in August and I would love to plan this for them.
Thanks

Glad you had a nice trip and thanks for sharing it with us.

That's great! What night and show were you at? We were there on Friday the 28th at 9pm.

Wow, that dessert party sounds great!! Did you put it on your parents reservation that it was their anniversary? We will be celebrating our 7th on our next trip and I wonder if I should mention that on my PS's??

Great report, thanks!!

mikesmom88.... You just make a reservation at The Garden Grill for dinner and ask them to note you want the re-hitching ceremony. Unfortunatly, I have heard of others say that it is not gauranteed and sometimes they don't get around to doing it if it is really busy. I did remind the person when I checked in as well. They do make the couple stand up, ask them if they if they agree to all the vows that they said originally and have them kiss while we all counted to 100 by 10s, they also got a real nice certificate with Mickey and Minnie on it saying they were re-hitched.

jaysue, yes, I just posted on the license plate thread. That was my car, but, my parents drove it there. We flew. My mom is afraid to fly and they both have small cars so I told her to take my Explorer. The car is now in Kentucky on its way back here if anyone sees it.

CRSNDSNY... We were there on Thursday, May 27th. Missed you by one day!

Lexxiefern.... The area we were at in the lower UK is not part of any resturant, you can't make a PS for it. You can go there during the day to sit and enjoy the lagoon, there are park benches there, but at night it is normally reserved for these private events. Sometimes it is a wedding reception type of thing or a company reserves these areas for a reception or just like me, it can be reserved for any special even that you want. It is a special events number I think for Epcot Catering. I will post it later.

sounds fantastic - I would love to book that private party some day. we had room 453 last trip and I loved watching illuminations (and just the very top of PI fireworks!)

thanks for posting

Terry,
Sounds like you had a great trip. The dessert party sounds like a a lot of fun. Did your room have a woods view? I think we've stayed at that end of the 5th floor, and I really liked it. What a surprise to have that many family members cancel out. Looks like you made the best of it though. Your lucky your parents are so into Disney, Your kids must really enjoy having Grandma and Grandpa along...Johnnie
