Ok, here's my first report, I'm posting here because I can't find anything in room reports for BCV.

I'm including everything, some may see just positives, others the negatives but want everyone to know we had a great time, we never let little problems or issues affect our Disney vacation, so here goes.

Checked in Beach Club for our free week, and was way at the end with quiet pool, had the benefit of being close to Epcot but a good walk to SAB, no problem the quiet pool and Hot Tub was nice, Beach Club seems to getting a little run down.

Checked into Room 328 (Handicapped) although we are not on 7/7 to 7/13. The room was a locked off studio on the 3 floor with a huge balcony, one of the big round turrets when looking up from the pool. Plenty of room for handicapp to wheel out onto. I liked the double locks on the doors leading out to balcony to avoid little ones from going out alone, however the door was very hard to close and appeared cheap to me.

While on that topic, there were several things that gave me the impression that they rushed to complete BCV, they include...

... Areas under the balconies not painted
... The heating system kicked on in the hallways one day when it was 90, that was fixed within a couple hrs.
... Broken door latch
... Carpeting pulling back from the tile in the bathroom, to the point where the nails were showing.
... Absolutely no pressure from the Shower, but that happens at every place I stay at.
... The main door in the lobby was broke one day.
... The elevator was out on more than one occasion

Those are just the resort related items, I feel all minor and fixable just it was noticeable.

Now for my little issues regarding the room,

... Wish we had not had a handicapped room, but that's my fault, should of asked for a change.
... The floor in the bathroom will flood... trust me, put down towels
... No ironing board, again no big deal
... I didn't like how the kitchette was arranged, in the model you had more room, this one the microwave was not on shelf but on the counter itself, left for very little room.
... No counter space at all in batroom, this is because it was a handicapped room I think.
... Yep, you guessed the pull out sofa is not comforable, it's not the mattress as much as the incline, maybe because its new.

OK, now the room itself had a great view of the pool, and we felt that the placed appeared empty. Everyone we met was very nice. The hallways and interior are absolutely beautiful, the wood doors make it that much more nice.

Now for some other tidbits ...

... The pool is not quiet, people were in it all hours of the morning and you could hear them up to 1 to 2 in the morning, this does not bother us as we enjoy seeing people having fun, but if you want quiet I would consider the back of the resort.

... It looks like you can see some fireworks at Epcot, but it's such a short walk so this is not a big deal for us.

... Dunes Cove and the Hottub were great, hardly used until late at night

... The store was getting stocked pretty good with food and the bare necessities if you know what I mean. CM's very friendly.

... I didn't think the crowds were that bad at SAB or the parks for that matter, I've seen worst.

... BCV is gorgeous and seems pretty tranquill.

... I did not see the alligator everyong keeps talking about, and I looked and looked, but I did see some workers installing lights in the tall grass near the canal, better them than me.

... Oh yes, the toilets are power flushers, please hold onto your children when flushing.

... Nice electronic temperatures controls in the rooms, although I wish my was higher so DD could reach it, was she figured it out, I had to constanstly reset it.

... Fireworks and Hula dancers were awesome, but my 2 favorites this time was the Motor Cars parade and the breakfast at Cindy's Castle, as they say "priceless".

... SAB was pretty crowded but still plenty of room for everyone, beaches and cream was packed but still was able to eat there at least 6 or 7 times.

... Ariel looks great outside of BCV

All in all a great trip and great resort, next time it's a 1 bedroom for me.

Rating from 1 to 10 is a 10, even with all the little stuff I mentioned, see things can not always be 100 percent, it's all about attitude and how you want to control it.

Everyone that is going to BCV in the upcoming months will really enjoy this resort, hope you all have great vacations and magical memories with your families.

Have a great week

Thanks RayJay! Staying at the BCV for 5 nights starting 8/18! Can't wait!!!

(and thanks for the potty warnings! I'll warn my two little DD's to hold on tight!) :p

RayJay.... Thanks for the report. Love your outlook on things! Can't wait for our first trip home for 12 nights at the end of Sept.

Resevation made in March, although I bet you could find something, the place seeemed empty.

Checked in around 2 p.m.

Did not have any special requests other than a pool view.

so it would seem the only pool view they had for you when you checked in at 2pm was the handicapped one bedroom....even though you were probably "early" in reservation confirmation with a march date....

just curious, did they extend the courtesy to you of saying the room you were assigned to was "handicapped"?

just trying to make sense of the procedure the DVC resorts follow with respect to room assignments....

It was a studio not a 1 bedroom, and no they did not tell me it was a handicapp room, I would suggest if you don't want one to ask for a regular studio.

Both of the above are because of the handicapped room. Our handicapped Studio at VWL had a different bathroom & kitchenette configuration from regular rooms.

The bathroom was one big room with the pedestal sink (no room for our stuff!), toilet and roll-in shower with pull-down bench. Because of the large bathroom, there is no closet. Instead, the armoire that holds the TV is much bigger and has two narrow closet sections on each side.

The kitchenette had empty space under the sink (instead of a cabinet), the microwave was on the counter instead of the shelf, and the cabinet was just above the microwave.

Thanks for the great report RayJay. We are leaving in about 5 weeks for BCV (2 Bedroom) and I am like a sponge trying to soak up all the information on BCV. :bounce:

Was the sofa bed really uncomfortable because we are taking grandmom and she gets the bed. My daughter is sleeping on sofa bed in the studio type bedroom and my two boys are sleeping on sofa bed in living room. Do you think it will be extrememly uncomfortable for all of them? They liked the sofa bed in living room at OKW.

Thanks again for your report!:Pinkbounc

I'm a little nervous about staying here; I can't believe all the problems you had! We'll be ther in late September and I sure do hope all the kinks are worked out by then. We have a 5 month old and a 2 1/2 year old, they'll keep us plenty busy!

Great report, Thanks!

Just a couple of questions, you said this was your 7nights free was that with a DVC purchase? Also when we bought our DVC in Feb, we were told we could not request the Beach Club Villas it had to be another resort. Not that big of a deal just wondering.

Also are the studios bigger than the regular BC resort rooms?

Thanks!
Denise

First Time BCV - July 2003

DS James and I shared the sofa bed when our family stayed in a BCV studio from 7/1 to 7/4. The bed is not the most comfortable, but I had no problem getting a good night's rest. And I'm usually quite picky about beds. I guess it really depends on the individual.

Hi again everyone,

Let me answer the questions,

First OSHUN - No the sofa beds are not that bad, the mattress is very comforable, it's just that on our particular bed it was slightly inclined from say the chest up to head if you were laying down, by morning you do feel a little discomfort sleeping that way, but after the first night I put my 4 year old in there and this was not a problem for her as she is shorter.

Next is to PEPPERIDGE - Yes, alot of little problems I noticed but I belief because it is new, and once Members bring the issues forward all will be resolved.

And now in response to ALLFORPOOH - Sorry, I wasn't clear enough I believe, I stayed at Beach Club for my 7 days and then 5 days (70 points) at Beach Club Villas. We chose Beach Club because after the free stay you can't use Beach Club for points.
Studios seem bigger than regular rooms.

Hope that helps everyone out, any other questions I'd be happy to try and reply.

Have a great week
RayJay
