Stayed at BCV Oct 10-15. Our room assigned at check-in was the only problem we had all week. We spent Sat. night at AS Sports and I got up at 5:30am and went and checked in at BC. I was back at AS Sports for breakfast and getting the family ready for a day at AK by 6:05am. We spent the entire day at AK and then ate at Boma's at 5:00pm. We finally go back to the room after 7pm. We walk into our 2 bedroom and find that our 2 queens that our reservation called for (in the studio part) was really a queen and a pull out sofa. We gave my wife's parents the master bedroom, we were taking the queen and I wasn't that upset because it was just our kids (4 yo DS, 2 yo DS) sleeping on the pullout. What did puzzle me was that at no time was I instructed that my reservation was altered. When I checked in the frontdesk guy told me 3rd floor and this room was on the 3rd floor. He gave me keys and they worked, so that eliminates a last second switch, right? Anyway, I called down to see what was going on and they offered to switch rooms on Monday, didn't really want to do that b/c my family needs their naps, I didn't mention we also have a 15 month DS as well. :) What should I have asked for, if anything?

Other than that, the trip was great!!! The parks were great!!! SAB was great!!! MNSSHP was fantastic, Chef Mickey's before MNSSHP was a real thrill. My 4 yo DS went on Big Thunder Mtn for the first time and loved it. As we came in to the station they were opening the 2nd boarding area and the people weren't ready to get on so they let us go a second time. My 2 yo DS who was scared to death of characters, was running up to Chip & Dale at the end of the week and giving them the biggest hugs you ever saw! Great trip, can't wait to go back.

I would also like to point out that it took me about 6" of text to complain (although I guess this will change on different computers) and only about 2" of text to speak about all the wonderful things that happened the rest of the ENTIRE week. BTW, Food and Wine was really enjoyable. :) Thanks for all of your comments about what I should I done with the room situation.

You needed to reserve a 2BR dedicated unit and specificially ask for 2 queens in the second bedroom. A lock off 2BR will always have a sleeper in the second bedroom along with a queen bed. (Someone refresh my memory...BCV has 2BR dedicated units, right?)

I haven't had to reserve that room type before...but my understanding is that it is not just a request...but a guarantee on the reservation.

That's the type of reservation that I had. That's why I was puzzled that it could be changed at the last minute.

Yes, BCV has 2-bedroom dedicated units. On our visit last week, we asked not to get one, since one couple in our party wanted to be able to come and go without waking our children as they slept in the living room. However, we made friends down the hall who had a dedicated unit.

First of all let me say I am sorry you did not get the room you booked I would be disappointed too.

I can attempt to explain how this happens if you want to know. However lately it seems when I try to explain how things happen at Disney, I get accused of being critical of the person wanting an explanation. Oh well I will try again.

Some possible reasons this happens. This is no excuse, nor am I condoning this in anyway, I just happen to understand how things happen at Disney. This is not because I work there, but go often and have friends that do work there.

If you booked a dedicated 2 bedroom/ 2 queen beds with Member Services then you should get one. Most of the dedicated 2 bedrooms at BCV do not have the 2 queens in the bedroom. There was a mixup at the building of the resort, and later they came back and added as many 2 queens in the dedicateds as they could, but not many would hold them.

The big "if" is was it truely booked as it should have or was a request made. They used to send you a confirmation stating on their it was 2 Queens but they wont do that anymore. This leads me to believe that allows them some leadway. So truely even though you ask to be booked in this room, there is an margain of error. As stated you do have to book this special room type, which it seems you did.

Another situation is this, the room you booked was not available at checkin so you were given the other room. Now that might mean that since there are so few of these rooms 25, that after your booking it, one or more was out of service due to any number of reasons including maintenance etc. Also a guest might have prolonged their stay in one of these rooms and therefore no more were available.

If after getting your keys you did not return to the front desk prior to going to your rooms, then you are correct in the fact the keys given to you were in fact for the room you got. I am surprised as early as you checked in that you did not have to go back and get your keys activated. Usually they will not give you the actual room key until the room is ready.

Again I am not saying any of this is acceptable, but this is some of the cases of what happens.

We booked at Lagoon view room at the Grand once. Upon checkin they were sold out and some of the lagoon rooms were down due to a water leak. We were not able to get our lagoon room, because truely at that time there were none to give us.

Since they offered to move you, I would guess it was either a guest extended their stay or the room was in some type of repair.

I agree with everything Sammie said except this:

"I am surprised as early as you checked in that you did not have to go back and get your keys activated. Usually they will not give you the actual room key until the room is ready."

In my experience they will always give you keys for your room, they just won't tell you which room you have and you can then call the front desk and ask if your room is available and what room number you have, you don't need to return to the front desk at all.

yearlightbuzz, this same thing happened to us last May. I was not happy because when I booked the rooms, MS told me that since this is what I booked, I was guaranteed this type of room. I was told by MS this is not a request but again a guarantee. I am sorry that this happened to you and know your disappointment. I would definitely call MS and let them know this happened to you.
