Hi All,
I posted a couple of days ago that my husband and I decided to buy at BCV as a Christmas present to ourselves but I have to be honest, after reading so many negative posts here (ie. lukewarm showers, uncomfortable beds, wierd airconditioning, poor housekeeping, unwelcoming CMs, etc.) I am starting to get cold feet. We never actually stayed at the Beach Club before but the atmosphere and location seemed so ideal to us. Please, please somebody tell us we won't be disappointed when we come "home" for the first time in July. I would love to hear what you love about the Beach Club and for those of you who have bought there and stayed already - do you regret it? Please help - we have spent so much money on this and so want to love it...

Hi hope this helps you. You seem to want blunt facts so here I go. I bought at the Boardwalk 1997 200 points I like it being close to Epcot and MGM. Then summer 2002 we bought another 150 points at the Beach Club and in the fall 2002 another 150 points at the BCV. We lost our minds and for Christmas we bought another 160 points at Vero Beach for $65 per point. This contract VB we bought for interval trades, a premium week in interval for a 1 BR is 160 points. We currently have 660 points and I would like to add 340 Old Key West in the future. Consider 160 point packages and add on as you go, so you can trade 160 points into Interval for premium weeks in a 1BR.

We love the entire DVC program and consider this the best thing we ever bought. We stayed at the Beach Club twice the big down side is the real chance of a bad view ie parking lot or out the back looking at the road, thats the reality. We had to change rooms this Christmas due to being located 2 nd floor parkig lot. We luckly got a 4 th floor room looking out to Epcot it was nothing great to look at. We did get a great room in the Fall looking at the pool the 4 TH flooor. As for the AC yes it was not reacting to hold tempertaure as a A/C Engineer I'm sure they have many start up problems and I have no fear, it will all be fixed. As for the Hot Water it did dip during peak load but not bad again I'm sure it will be fixed. I would not let start up problems be a conderation.

We have stayed at all the locations and the Beach Club is my least favorate for a View but I love the Location and Resort benifits the pools resturants and atmosphere. I have never had any problems switching to the other locations in fact we stay at Old Key West the most larger rooms less points and its nice to be in a quite place after a day in the park and use the Wilderness Lodge Pool. Hope this helps its not ment as a negitive but as a positive because all the locations have unique benifits and all a great to stay at, thats the benifit of the Vacation Club.
Good Luck and Merry Christmas

We bought into BCV last March, and have so far only had one stay there, a relatively brief three-night stint in a studio in late September. However, both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed that visit, and are anxiously looking forward to our first "whole family" trip to BCV next month. We thought the BCVs were beautiful, comfortable, and well-appointed. All of the CMs we encountered were friendly, and our showers were of adequate temperature (if not particularly high-pressure).

The only complaints I could possibly come up with were a snafu at check-in (which was eventually straightened out), and a very unimpressive room service pizza. However, those points were almost completely lost in an otherwise very enjoyable visit.

I think you just have to try it and judge for yourself. Unfortunately, no resort is perfect, and there will always be some less-than-satisfactory experiences. But I'm still betting that the majority of the BCV guests' primary disappointments were that their stays ended much too soon. (That was certainly mine!)

We are new owners as well and stayed at the BCV for 12 nights in October and absolutely loved it. As you can see below I have 3 trips planned for next year all at BCV. We were already huge Beach Club fans, so the BCV just made it all that much better. Yes, I was a bit disappointed when the Villas were originally being built and I learned there would be no lagoon view, this had been my favorite view at Beach Club. But, I now have a new favorite view, last October we faced Spaceship Earth and had a wonderful view of Illuminations every night from our balcony. The water pressure and tempature seemed the same to me as it did in the BC and AKL, both of which I had stayed recently. The AC control thing did bring the temp of the room up quite a bit, but I would say with in 2-3 minutes of walking in the door it was cool again. We didn't seem to have a problem at night, but I do toss and turn quite a bit at night so that may have been the reason. The CM's were all very friendly, especially Art the greeter and the King Size bed that I slept in was just as comfortable as the one I have here at home.

In my opinion, the atmoshphere and themeing at the BC/BCV is just the best on property. I love sitting on the quiet beach at night on the bench swings and looking out over the boardwalk. The walk to Epcot is literally 5 minutes. Then there is Cape May Cafe and Beaches and Creme (love those Sundaes). Oh and my kids just can't get enough of Storm Along Bay.

I think you will read both positive and negative posts about all of the DVC resorts here, you are just reading a lot more about BCV since it is the newest and a lot of people are tying them out. I don't think you will be disappointed with you Christmas present. I would love to have more points and I have 900 (all at BCV).

We own at BWV and VWL and have stayed in every on-site DVC, including BCV, we love them all for their own reasons. While I prefer BWV(more activity), the locations of BWV and BCV are the best in the DVC program and BCV is only across the lake from all the BWV activities. When we stayed at BCV, we liked it - it is new, comparable size to all but OKW, good pool and great location. We did not experience a noticable water pressure problem and I actually liked the room service pizza.
The best thing about DVC is that you can try each of them, I would rank BCV as my number 2 behind BWV - except VWL at Christmas.

I stayed at the Beach Club for my November Trip. It was my first time there, and the resort is beautiful! The water pressure was low and there are not outstanding views.....but, that doesn't kill the resort! You already know the water pressure is low, so that won't be a surprise. Oh, and the air conditioning does turn off if there is no movement in the room....this did not bother me, but it was cool at night in November.

The best part about the Beach Club, is the short walk back from EPCOT! We all loved that! And, loved going to Beaches and Cream, and other restaurants around the area! Beach Club has some of the pretties relaxing gathering areas! You could sit in the Breezeway and read a book and enjoy the resort!

Also, the rooms are beautiful! Although, there was one other thing that bothered me, the light outside stayed on all night long. The first night, I kept waking up and seeing the light, thinking it was daylight...but, once I figured out the light outside could not be turned out, I just learned to live with it.

I'm sure you will love the Beach Club!

To give you some idea of how much I love BCV-we joined DVC in January, and I made a promise to myself to try all the DVC accomodations at WDW. Went to VWL, then OKW, then BCV....Now I'm wondering if I might break my promise to myself. I'm afraid to try anywhere else since of the 3, BCV is far and away my favorite. Why? Not SAB, I don't swim! Nearness to Epcot (the realization that for once I didn't need to take my headache med with me when I went to WS-if I got a headache, just run back to my room!) Beautiful, restful surroundings; B&C (in the afternoon, when it's not crowded); sitting on my balcony with my morning coffee listening to the faint Epcot music; from what I hear, I was fortunate with my view-it was lovely, but I don't know what the view's called-maybe garden view? It was Rm #339, inside the small horseshoe if anyone knows what view that it.
BTW, when you go, be sure to look in the pictures for the hidden Mickeys-they're everywhere!

My DH and I had the same cold feet as you did. We bought into WLV last Oct, but decided to back out. I had really wanted the BWV, but it was sold out. On my birthday (12/26), my DH and I decided to buy 200 points at BCV. We stayed at WL for a few days during this trip and I'm glad that we didn't buy into it. We didn't really like the location of the WL. The bus transportation to MK and MGM was horrible. When my family and I stayed at the YC last Oct., we loved the closeness of Epcot and MGM. We also loved the atmosphere. At WL, the location was little too remote for us.

hulagirl....I haven't stayed at BCV, but wanted to point out a couple of things.

1. The folks on this board represent only a small portion of all of the DVC owners...so opinions are not necessarily representative of everyone.

2. We also tend to point out the negatives as a way of providing input to others. Everyone here, almost by definition, loves going to WDW and visiting the parks. So no need to go on about that! :) So we do tend to point out the negatives.

3. Here's a link to a current thread that should help ease your mind.

I've found these boards to be a great source of information for DVC, and enjoyable to read between trips. But I'd suggest that you go on your first trip with an open mind, and remember the accommodations you have stayed in before. I think you will be very happy with your purchase!

We own at BWV and I thought that I would never love another resort as much as that. Wrong! We bought at BCV and stayed there for a week in November and I love the place. It is so close to EPCOT and SAB is fabulous. Most of the CM's we dealt with were very nice. The water pressure in the shower could have been better but that is not something that ruins my vacation. The beds were comfortable and the villa was spotless. I love the BWV and BCV's locations and all the dining options within walking distance.

We are staying at Vistana in March and I will really miss being on property but we own there too and need to use our week. We will be back on property at Easter in the BWV and in Nov we will be back at BCV.

Thank you all so much for the encouragement. It is much appreciated! I do find it wonderful and amazing how we all look at things in different ways from different perspectives. I think the Beach Club is a wonderful place....I look so forward to being there in July. Have a great day everyone!:D
