BCV or Wilderness Lodge Villas

Hi folks, i'm renting points from a member and currently am booked for the BCV for five nights. I just added onenight to the vacation and am coming into the Wilderness lodge for one night. I'm reading these negatives about BCV and now am wondering if I should switch to the Wilderness Lodge Villas. We would really only have one day to stay around the resoret so SAB really isn't a huge deal. I did think being close to EPOC would be nice but we'll spend most of the time at MK. Any advice? PLEASE!

If SAB and EPCOT are not that big of a deal to you and your family, I'd definitely stay at Wilderness. The theming is fabulous (which is one of the reasons we're trying to buy a VWL contract)and it's is a quick boat ride over to the Magic Kingdom.

Another consideration: SAB is being closed later this year for a major rehab -- don't know if this conflicts with your trip.

HTH!

BCV is wonderful. There seem to be a lot of negatives - but many are the same one being talked about more than once. It's been two years since the resort opened with how many guests staying, and a handful of people on this board have had bad experiences.

I'm not downplaying the really bad experiences, but I'm just trying to say - keep it in perspective. This is Disney and you get Disney quality - every Disney resort falls short of the mark from time to time

Don't worry about it.

you might consider BW - if you want to near Epcot and Studios -

I didn't like the sleeper couch in the studio at BCV- it was very harsh - I think that is because they expect people to swim at SALB and this thing would not get wet easy - but I like cloth against my skin.

I think all the DVC resorts are great.

My 2 favorite are BCV and BWV but Epcot is my favorite park.

If you are going to be spending most of the time at MK, VWL might be best for you.

But don't make the decision based on the negative reports of BVC. I'm not saying that some people haven't had any problems, but we make a minimum of 4 trips per year to DW and have never had a problem there.

In fact the only problem we have had at a DVC resort was VWL but that wouldn't keep me from going back. The only reason we haven't gone back is I like the Epcot resorts so much I wouldn't stay anywhere else unless I couldn't get those two.

Do 3 days in each. This way you can get the best of both worlds. The plan your trip to Epcot/MGM/SAB when at the BCV, and your trip to MK when at VWL.

If I was booking a trip for several months from now, and knew I'd be spending most of my time at MK instead of the other parks, I'd probably try to book at VWL. However, your trip is coming up pretty soon, and VWL is a much smaller resort than BCV, so I wouldn't get my hopes up too high about being able to switch at this late date. We own at BWV but have stayed at both VWL and BCV and both are wonderful resorts with a lot to offer.

If it was me... I would spend all days at one resort. We find it to be a pain to move.

It sounds like VWL would be your best bet, but both are nice.

I wouldn't think twice about your decision to stay at BCV. It is a highly sought after resort. Just look at the resale market and see how many BCV contracts are out there....they're usually sold before they hit the market! Does that sound like an undesirable place to stay?

But if you will be doing mostly MK, then VWL is a good option too. I just wouldn't switch to there based on anything you read here about BCV.

Also, IMHO, I wouldn't think it would be worthwhile to switch resorts during that short of a stay.

I also do not like to switch resorts. I find it more relaxing to stay put it one place, call me lazy, but I do not like to pack up to just do it again in a few days. BCV and BWV are my home resorts and I love both of them.

Well, I look at it from the DVC member who is going to have to change your reservation. Keep it simple and don't change it.

Either way, I hope you have a great vacation  .

Do VWL next time.

That's what I keep telling myself, but when the 7 month mark rolls around, nobody in our family wants to switch from BCV to VWL! Even after getting a tour of a 1BR at VWL last year.

I hear ya Erik! I just polled the family to see if they wanted to switch to the BWV from BCV next March - just in case the pool rehab isn't done.

NOPE! They are all excited about being at BCV and do not want to move. They love it there!

Rats! I was kinda hoping to move to a SV and save some points. Oh well. Fingers crossed the pool will be done - supposed to be done a week before we get there.

Sorry to change the subject, but when is SAB going to be closed...and for how long? Anyone know? We have reservations in the beginning of December.
Bummer!

I was going to vote for VWL, just because you stated that you were going to spend most of your time at Mk it would just be easier to travel. Since you have been out voted, I guess it's going to be BCV. It's beautiful and don't let anyone else's experience color your vacation. I'm one of those people that believe that a bad room at disney is better than not being there. Not saying that there is a bad room at BCV and also not saying that I wouldn't ask for a nice room if I were to get a bad one, but I don't think there is a bad one, just things that need to be fixed. Whew!!!
