BCV or BWV - Which will work out better?

Hi Everyone

I keep frustrating myself with trying to make a decision that will satisfy more of my friends and family.

If we stay at the beach club villas, you get the pool access to STORMALONG BAY, where I would love to be on a tube for part of the trip.

If we stay at the boardwalk villas, we get the more casual restaurants and pub atmosphere others prefer.

I almost want to get two reservations and tell people to meet up.
I will never use the maximum capacity of each reservation, so I was considering putting on the maximum number of people on the BCV and that way the BWV people could have "ID's" for the
BCV as well.

I wish the Boardwalk only had pool hopping possibilities for Stormalong Bay, since you can walk to it from the same Lagoon.

I can't make up my mind what to do?

In the end, I wonder how much swimming we will be doing on a early December trip?

Has anyone else been pained with this decision: BCV or BWV?

If you stay at BCV all of the amenities of BWV are just a short stroll away and you're free to enjoy them. Unfortunately that does not hold true for the converse.

I like to point out that the BWV is a larger DVC and offers Preferred Views and Standard views. You can get longer stays with the standard view rooms, but nicer views with the preferred boardwalk views. This allows you to get excellent views of all the action on the boardwalk or pools.
The BCV has an excellent pool with a great tube slide. The BWV has a clown pool, which my kids enjoy more than the BCV pool. I guess taste is not one of my kids attibutes.
The BWV may have long walks to get to the front desk. The BCV has sensor controlled air conditioning. That means it may go off when there is no movement detected in your room. You need to keep moving
I hope this gives you some help in determing the correct place to buy and stay.

I've stayed at both resorts, and while the access at SAB is great, it's the only plus over BWV's IMO. Well, not really, since all of us enjoy Luna Park more than SAB. Since my kids are young (6 and 3) SAB is more of a hinderence, since the place is so big, its very hard to keep track of anyone. The lazy river is right next to the baby pool, which is a hike from the other areas of SAB, especially the waterslide, which is on the other side of the pool. The views at BCV are mediocore at best in comparision to the views that can be obtained at BWV. We did have an Epcot view at BCV and the noise from the road below basically kept us up at night. We had a BW view at BWV and it was probably the best room view I've ever had at WDW, including MK view rooms! I'd stay at BCV again, but only when the kids were older and if they demanded it for SAB. It is true that by staying at BCV, you have access to all of the BW, including Luna Park, unless you're traveling during a time when pool hopping is suspended. Your idea of booking two rooms at each resort and maxing out your room occupancy so those at BW can have access to SAB is a good one. Basically it comes down to personal taste, the BW is it for me, and BCV just doesn't do it for me.

Don't kill yourself with this decision. Your friends should be lucky to get a room for free. I would put them all in BCV if the pool is the question, you can always walk over to enjoy the restaurants at BW.

Let me jump in and ask a question.

I did not know that BVW guests can't not access BCV amenities? I thought you can pool hoop from one resort to another. Am I missing something?

Once BCV's were built, SAB closed to pool hopping. You can go certainly walk over and walk through the ground and use the restaurants at the BC, you just can't use the pool.

There are a few restrictions on pool-hopping for DVC members:

SAB is restricted to only guests staying at the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, and at Beach Club Villas.

And the pool at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is not available for pool hopping.

All other pools are available if occupancy allows.

I like BCV over BWV. Both are nice, but at BCV, in addition to access to Stormalong Bay, you also have convenient parking. At BWV, parking is almost always a long walk away.

Also, as others have pointed out, the walk from BCV over to BW isn't very far at all. So you don't have to give up convenient access to the eating places on BW.

I am disappointed that I have to move around a lot for the air conditioning at BCV, but I snore so bad I think I would keep it activated.

One of my friends likes the air conditioning like an iceberg, he tortures his wife who likes it warmer, she looks like the princess and the pea all covered with comforters. At OKW we had water accumulated on the windows from how cold he kept it.
I had to sneak out at 3 AM and turn it back to a sensible coolness.

I am leaning to BWV for the majority, and BCV for the minority.
I am excited to stay at both. I always treat on these reservations, its kind of my thing to do for family and friends.

I have only stayed at OKW many times so far, and never at my home resort of WVL, I must stop being stingy on the points.

Don't get too worked up over the pool in December. It might or might not be usable.

My vote would be for the BWV because we love the luna pool and the community hall with quiet pool. We also do the gym which is right next to the main pool. As far as everything else the BWV have as much or more to offer but either resort is topnotch, its like saying do you want a BMW or a Lexus.

We love both resorts. For the pool, we absolutely love SAB! Best pool on property, in our opinion. But for all other aspects, BWV has a slight advantage. The main thing we do not care for at BCV is how far away the building is from SAB, the boat dock, retaurants, arcade. etc., and that many of the villa views leave a lot to be desired.
You really can't go wrong with either resort--both are among WDW's crown jewel resorts.

I would choose BWV over BCV at that time of year. But then, my family won't go swimming if the outside temperature is not 85 degrees or more.

The good news is that you can't go wrong with either choice--I just wish we were going as soon as you are to either place!!!
