We booked a great trip for this year-2 bedroom BCV lockoff, queens in 2nd bedroom for six nights in late July. The problem? My son's baseball team is spending 9 days in Georgia right before (unexpectedly) and my kids are making noise about not wanting to go to disney after that. One is graduating high school, the other will be a junior, and as much as they love disney, they were hoping for a beach trip. My wait lists for hilton head and vero haven't come through, not that I expected it to happen. Normally, I'd just bank the points and look for something next year, but I have 150 banked points that I would lose.

Any suggestions? Would I be better off trying to rent the 150 points through david's and just cancelling the trip or trying to rent out the whole reservation? New to this aspect-we've used all our points in the past, so not sure the best way to handle this. Any input would be welcome!

Rent the entire reservation, would be my suggestion since you already have it and the reservation is a one that lots of people would like.

I don't think you can post the room rental on the boards unless it's 30days out.

You may want to see if the timeshare store or david's would try to rent the room. I agree, it's a sought after resort for summer, easier than renting the points.

Are some of the days available maybe even 2-3 in a row at Vero Beach in a room size you can use. You could combine the 2 trips by going to Vero Beach for some of the days.

rlovew-I've tried to get a few days. We need 2 bedrooms, and I can't find a single open day.

When is your UY . Would you have time to take another trip . If you have a few months maybe cancel get your points back in your account bank what you can and use the 150 for a small trip where ever you cane get likely SSR .

I don't see why this wouldn't work unless you are passed your banking deadline .

Haven't passed deadline, we have an October use year. The biggest problem with a new reservation is the age of my kids. One will start college and be out of the picture by fall, the other will be a junior. I wouldn't mind a short trip during the school year, but I'm not comfortable leaving him behind and his schedule is so packed with academic and athletic commitments, we just cant do it.

Have you considered using the points that are not bankable for something in The Concierge Collection or the World Passport Collection?

Perhaps there is something in the Concierge Collection that is within driving distance of your hone that will allow you to take a long weekend?

Perhaps something in the RCI inventory would work? Remember there is an option for a few nights as well as for entire weeks. Perhaps you could add a few to the expiring points and make a deposit to RCI for a later choice?

I know those may not be ideal or the best value, but in your situation, they could turn out to be a good choice.

Good luck!

Rent your points out. If you use David's Rental you can get $1650 for the points (half now, half later). With the cash, book at ANY beach. It will give you more flexibility on what days you can go.

Thanks for everyones response. I'm going to just cancel the reservation, bank this years points and give Davids Vacation a call to get rid of my 150 points that were banked from last year. That means that someone with a waitlist request for the 2 bedroom (with queens in the 2nd room) BCV is probably going to be very happy. If you are on the waitlist for this type of room from July 28-August 3rd, I'm going to cancel Saturday. At least one person should get the benefit of a little pixie dust!

Hopefully we will get to experience Hilton Head or Vero next year. I couldn't get anything at either resort 7 months out. Now, maybe if we had been willing to shove into a one bedroom, but I'm spoiled with all of the space in a 2bedroom.
