BCV Incentive Going Away!

For all of you who are still in the "decision making" mode - My guide told me today that as of the end of April, the current incentive for BCV is going away. In addition, a price increase will take effect on June 2 (going up to $80 per point). Better make those decisions soon.

And New ork is still not Approved. WAS told if i want to add on points to fly down.

So when we come down there May 30th are we S-O-L for the BCV incentives? :(
Is there anything we can do now?
Thanks..

You might be out of luck - I understand that the incentives are going away because BCV is such a good seller. It seems I have seen a rumor on this board that when the price goes up to $80 on June 2, they may be offering the MB incentive again, which would give you the opportunity to sell back your 2002 points at $10 per point - but since the price goes up, you end up paying $70 per point and lose your 2002 points - clearly not as good a deal as that currently offered. However, my guide said nothing to me about MB coming back in June - again, I think I just saw that on a post on this board.

Without official word, there is only speculation of what incentives will be offered . I wouldn't count on $10/point MB- that was not a "given". Previously I believe that MB for VWL was as low as $5/point. With the incredible presales of BCV what is Disney's motivation to continue to offer good incentives? They will not have another property available until 2004. So they may just decide to slow things down a bit.

I'm pretty bummed about this too. We're planning to buy a BWV resale or BCV in the next month and a half. We're down at WDW in mid-May and I was hoping to see the place in case a great BWV resale didn't appear before then. *sigh* The cost with the incentive is high already. I know we won't buy into BCV with NO incentive and we certainly won't pay $80!

You could always start the buying process at BCV toward the end of April (to get the incentive)and cancel it after your May trip if you decide to do a BWV resale. Some friends of ours stretched their purchasing process out for 4-6 weeks from the time they made their $500.00 down payment. You could be honest with your guide about your intentions. Disney makes it fairly easy to cancel if you change your mind....Just a thought. ;)

I am not denying the accuracy of this thread, but when I bought my points on Monday my guide and I had a discussion about this very issue. She indicated that it was expected that the incentive would go away sooner rather than later but that no decision had been made, and that typically that would be announced at their "Monday meeting" and that that had not been done this week if I understood her correctly. We have had this rumor posted on the boards before and found that it was not totally accurate. Again, I am not doubting that the original post was correct, but before I got up in arms I would certainly discuss it directly with my guide. Good luck to everyone! BTW, for those buying an add on, the incentive only kicks in if you buy 100 or more points.

My Guide left a detailed message on my answering machine late yesterday the incentives end April 30.

How does this process work exactly? I'd be willing to put $500.00 down sight unseen with the option to cancel if we change our minds when we get down there. I appreciate any info you might have.
Thanks

the incentives are ending on April 30th. even on a minimum points purchase of 150, the $5 rebate of $750 make sense for any New Yorker to fly down there. I just booked DH on a same day RT on April 30th from JFK on Delta for $144. and Southwest had available for the "Friend Fly Free" program, leave the 22nd and return the 23rd. I opted not to do that as an overnight stay would require us to take the DD and DS as well. so it's just my DH (with a "specific" power of attorney for me) to sign papers and then we will finally be members!

now the real dilemma... 210 pts or 260 pts. ???? the $5 rebate or the seven (or seven + three) nights accomodations???? HELP!

p.s. if anyone else will be taking that same flight or arriving at MCO on the 30th at aroung 10:30a - 11:00a, maybe you could share transportation to DVC?

Sounds like good information! Glad they gave people a couple of weeks to take the plunge. Hope you all are able to take advantage of the discount if you want to do so. Good luck!:)

I don't know maybe it's sour milk but I do not think it is fair for the members in the unapproved states to get the "Fly down or forget it attitude" . New York is always the last state to give its approval, but this time it's because of 911, even DVC admits to this. Anyone who deals with the State or New York City Goverment knows how screwed up things are up here still.

The rest of the Country and World had the Incentives for almost 3 Months would it be too much to ask for a 2 week period after New York or any other state gives it Approval ? . New York does have the most members Per state. Am I the only one who Feels this way ?

I live in the Caribbean, does this affect my purchase? I'm not clear on residents of NY and why they cannot purchase?
How do I contact a guide before I go to DW? At almost $600.00 a flight rt to orlando it just makes no sense to fly down there for a day to do this. When we will be there end of May anyway.
Any ideas?
Even phone calls are $$$ from here. Can't I contact a really good guide via email and have all my questions answered?
Oh what to doooo??

Soluc,

Call the DVC sales number (800) 800-9100 and request a guide (do a search on "guides" and get the name of a good one, there have been many posts that included names). If your fairly certain you'ld like DVC, discuss your situation with them. If it were me, I would start the process at the end of April (but not the last day of the month) to get the BCV incentive. Then the paperwork process can be dragged out a little bit. For example, it will take DVC maybe a week to even get you the paperwork, you'll have to read all that paperwork, get things notarized. Depending on how you will be paying/financing, maybe you have to set up a home equity line to make the purchase or sell some stock to get the money, etc, etc. Maybe you could even bring all the documents with you to go over with and sign with your guide during your trip.

In spite of deadline listed on your documents, you can call and request extensions. Even if you do sign all the paperwork and send back in May, you have 15 days in which to cancel the entire transaction before it is closed. Don't be shy about asking your guide the cancellation policy.

Will someone correct me if I am wrong on the length of the recind period. Hope that helps info helps

Good Luck.:D

Johnnie Fedora,

Thanks for the great idea! I think that's what we'll do. If we have not bought at BWV by mid-May, then we'll probably pick up BCV. We'll start the process at the end of April, and take our paperwork with us and finish it at WDW.

So, if I undertand correctly, the BCV incentive will be $5 as of May 1. Does anyone know yet if that is a buyback? Is the price per point still $75?

(I live in WA, so unable to get any info directly from DVC - so I especially appreciate your replies):)

I *just* spoke with my guide, and she was NOT talking like there WOULD be any incentive after April 30! She was simply saying that the current incentives were going bye bye at the end of April - do we have some additional confirmation of new incentives beginning May 1?
In other words, is that *official* at DVC that there will definitely be a $5 incentive after May 1, or just off the record, that's what they're saying. Because my I asked my guide specifically about this and she just said that anyone who wanted the $5 incentive would need to fly down before April 30.

We will have to wait until Benedetta posts later today, buy my impression is that the current $5 off / free night stay is going to go away and be replaced by the old magical beginnings $5 off buy back incentive. JMO.
