BCV first time

This will be our first DVC trip to BCV. We are going Oct 11 for a week, I have a couple of questions:

1. We are staying in a 2br. With 3 adults and 3 children (1 infant) are the rooms roomy

2. Is the character breakfast at Cape May cafe worth it.

3. I am so nervous between the airplane and the trip not being perfect, I think I am making myself sick. Please help

4. Any suggestions of new cool places to eat. We usually go out of the park for dinner. but I want something fun to do.

I've only stayed at BCV once, a 1 bdrm, and it was just DH and I. Not much help there.
It is a great resort and we loved being able to walk to so many places, Epcot, Boardwalk, and even MGM if you want.
Don't worry about the trip being perfect - there will be many more. You may even enjoy it more if you're less worried about everything going as planned.

Welcome to the Boards

1- There will be plenty of room in your 2 br. (thats why our family purchased DVC for the nice 1 & 2 br suites)

2- Sorry never ate at Cape May but it certainly smelled good when we passed by.

3- When dealing with airlines expect the unexpected. Just remember what is waiting for you when you get to Disney.

4- I recommend all the restaurants in the BW, BC Swan & Dolphin area. Don't forget to use you 20% DVC discount at most Swan & Dolphins restaurants. Some of our family favorite places to eat in this area are:

Espn Club- we often used the take out and bring the meals back to our room.
Tubbis- best food value at WDW and that is even before the 20% discount.
BW Bakery- greaaaaaaaat deserts
BW food Cart (across from Flying Fish) good chilly & cheese fries.

Welcome to these boards. I know you will enjoy reading all the post as much as I do. We just got back from WDW and OKW. We love Primetime Cafe in MGM. It is a fun time for children as well as adults. We like the character meals at Garden Grill in Epcot and Crystal Palace in MK. We ate at Boma's for the first time but found the food there too spicey for us, but the prime rib was great. I have heard the dinner shows in Orlando are nice. I know that the Dolly Parton show is good in Pidgeon Forge, TN so I suspect the new one in Orlando will be good also. We like Rain Forest Cafe in Market Place. It is a fun place for all. Have a great trip and don't let the airplane thing worry you. Getting through security may take a while but it isn't that bad. It is much quicker at the Orlando airport to curb check your bags and then print your boarding pass inside. At least it is for a Northwest flight. We curb checked at Memphis and Orlando. Any trip to WDW is great even with a few problems but hopefully you won't have any.

The character breakfast at Cape May is one of our favorites, they have really good foor in addition to all the characters. The character meals at Crystal Palace are also really good.

You will have plenty of room with a 2 bedroom. Don't worry about the airplane. Bring activities for the kids and some food in case they get hungry. Just don't bring any chocolate to go through the scanners. Chocolate will make a sensor go off. Bahama Breeze is right outside of downtown disney and has great food. Fun atmosphere as well. Have a wonderful trip.

We've stayed in BCV's studios (2 people), 1bdrm (2, 3 & 4 people) and 2bdrm (5 people) and we have had no problems at all. I think you will find the 2bdrm unit will more than meet your needs.

I've read and heard that the Cap May character breakfast is very nice and that the kids really enjoy it. We have no first hand experience other than walking by in the morning and seeing all of the smiling faces.

As to the air travel, here are my observations (1) travel as light as possible--you can always do a load of wash or two in the room, (2) expect the unexpected but don't fret about it, and (3) make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport so you can check in, relax, and know that in a few hours (or less) you will be having a great time at WDW.

One final thought---calm down, slow down, and relax because you really are going to have a nice time at Disney.

I may be in the minority here, but our family did not care for the character breakfast at Cape May at all. (we were there about 3 weeks ago) Our food got cold very fast - we think it was because the plates were not warmed up. The food selection was only okay. We really love Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare. Now the dinner at Cape May is wonderful though! Definately give that a try!

I am new to DVC too and have never stayed at the BCV.

However, I consider myself a Diseny restaurant expert. I like restaurants that not only have great food but great charm and theming:

Cinderella's Table: The Char breakfast is great but try it for lunch. The prices are reasonable, Cinderella is almost always in the foyer (1st floor) even during lunch. The theming is the best. It is a great place to relax when you are tired or hot. Overall Rating: 10

California Grill - the top of the Contemporary, the view is the best in all WDW. Try to time your dinner with the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom (which it overlooks). The food is good but the lemon M pie is unbelievable. Overall Rating: 10

Artist Point - Everyone knows this location, VWL. It is beautiful and the food is great. Overall Rating: 8

Chef Mickeys - at Contempory, food is great with good characters. The downside is noise and the theme of the chracter breakfast or dinner is kind of childish. Overall Rating: 7

Hoop dee View review: Dinner show at fort wilderness. The show is a little week but the food is good. The problem with this is the cost ($50 - 75 per person). The fun is getting there from taking a boat from the Comporary or VWL to fort wilderness.
Overall Rating: 8

Flying Fish and Spoodles: I like both of these restaurants but I though flying fish had better food. The downside of the restaurants was theming. Pretty standard restaurants. Flying fish : 7, Spoodles: 6

The worst places that I have ate it are all restaurants (except the fast food place) at the Polynesian. total: 1

Other Places:
Japan (tepenyakis): 8
Norway: 7 (great fish)
1900 park place: 6
Gulivers:4 (good service, bad food)
Mexico outside place: 8 (great food and prices)
Mexico instide place: 8 (great theming)
Canada: 7
England: 6

Thanks for the link, wdwsos! My son will be 15 next trip, so I will take your son's reviews to heart ! - Great writing style!!! He reviewed all of the places we haven't tried yet (and a few we have) - very helpful! Breakfast on my birthday MUST be with Mickey, sounds like Chef Mickeys should be the place!

We stayed at BCV in June for the first time as DVC members and we absolutely loved it. We had a 2 BR for 4 adults and 2 children and had plenty of room. We had no compaints at all. We did go to the Character breakfast at Cape May Cafe and enjoyed the food very much. We thought they had an excellent variety. The characters, we thought, were a little off that day. We've had alot more fun with the characters at O'Hana's in the Poly, 1900 Park Fare in the GF, or Resturantasorus at AK.

Anyway, have a wonderful time on your trip and try not to worry to much. It'll turn out great.
