Good morning all,

Thought you might be interested in comments from my son on BCV experience...he is there now...seems as though they STILL need to work coordinating rooms. At 8:00 PM at night, this should not happen. I was happy to hear the Manager took care of things...quotes from his email..." BWV is his home resort and BCV is our home resort.......................

We're in room 365, which overlooks Epcot (not a great view, but we can make out the Epcot ball at night) and the canal. I took some video of the famous BCV alligator you may have read about on the boards -- he does exist!

The room is in great shape & exceeded our expectations. We had a problem on check-in night, they gave us a different room initially and when we got there, it hadn't been cleaned yet (this at 8pm mind you). Trash still full, dirty towels on the floor, bed not made. I don't understand how this happens.....I wasn't happy & everyone was beat & ready for bed by this point. I had a feeling there may have been an issue, as the CM checking us in looked at her screen and made a quick call before handing us the keys. Sure enough, room wasn't ready.

When I went back downstairs, they said they only had one other room available, it was an HA room, though. I said I had two kids that need baths, so it wouldn't work. The CM left me at the desk for 10min or so and a mgr came back & said they shuffled some thins around and got us 365. I was very polite to them the whole time (more like a pity story, rather than angry) and they were very nice in return - the mgr said if we needed anything else he'd take care of it. Nice guy.

The only thing we needed was the shower head replaced (it had that hard water buildup & shot every which way). It was replaced within minutes.

How does stuff like this happen? How would a room be given to someone that is not clean. Maybe someone checked out late. Just another case of miscommunication I guess. I always wonder how they go from "no other rooms" to "OH, here's a room for you" , that just confuses me even more. I hope their trip doesn't have any more surprises in store for them!

I think it's miscommunication issues with housekeeping that keep cropping up. I think the reason is that there are so many new hispanics working in housekeeping that can't speak english. Now, don't flame me for that statement as I'm not a prejuduced person, although I do have some problems with all the illegals, but that not what my statement is about. It's just a fact that since they can't speak english, communication is a problem.

Here's my opinion:

re: room not ready - could it be that someone had to check out early (but after 11am) so it never got on the list to clean? Then in checking them in that night, maybe the room shows available but not clean - so the CM thinking that it wasn't reported as cleaned - checked and was given a wrong answer? Hope that makes sense.

As for "we found a room": There are rooms they assign a couple of days ahead of time - i.e. non-smoking for medical reasons - could be that they had done that, and it would leave a room empty for one night because they weren't checking in until the next day. So they release the room to take care of the mix-up, reassign the pre-assigned one.

I just think there are circumstances - probably more explanations than my analysis here - that can cause odd things to happen.

Things like this should not happen, but they do. I am glad that he is having a good time and is not letting this bother him. I know mistakes like this happen at every hotel. My DS checked into a hotel and was given his room key. He went to the room and there was a woman getting changed as he walked in. Needless to say, she was not happy. They did upgrade him to a concierage room.

We once stayed at a hugely expensive and swank world-famous resort in Colorado. My wife arrived early flying in from another city, where she had bought new luggage. I arrived later that day, was given a room key, went up to our room, saw her new luggage stacked by the door, unpacked my own belongings into drawers, undressed and got into the shower.

That's when another family (with kids!) let themselves into the room, started to unpack their own things from those suitcases, found me naked in the shower and started to scream!
:earseek:
Well, of course I'd been sent to the wrong room, key and all. When all was said and done (and explained to the Colorado Springs police!), the resort didn't even offer us any kind of comp or make-good.

Yes, these things happen at world-class resorts. (And I won't get started on the adventure we had one night at a Howard Johnson's...)

We were given a room which had not been cleaned at BWV this august. The bellman Tony on our way up spent the whole time telling us what a great room it was, overlooking the main pool , fifth floor( met all of ,y requests!) He was extremely embarassed when he opened the door to an absolutely filthy room!(Trash all over the floor etc!!)) He went in and phoned the front desk and they told him that they had 1 other room so down we went to the first floor end of a hall! The room was ready so we said fine. The next morning we tried to shower and no Hot water. Called maintenance and were told it would be fixed soon a broken pipe in that wing. Said ok! Came back in the afternoon from a hot hard day and wanted a shower before going to dinner. No hot water!!! Called maintenance again and they responded that the pipe problem was fixed and had been since mid-morning. They had no idea when we would get hot water they said that theree was no problem with it at this time. DH and myself went to the front desk to see about this problem that didn't exist and we were told again that there were no hot water problems anymore. I asked why we didn't have any hot water and they went out back to talk to someone and finally came back to tell us that they were moving us to a new room. Room # 4026. What a great room! A corner room overlooking the canal and main pool. End of the hall way so extremely quiet! Just incredible! That night when we were preparing dinner in the unit we had a call asking if we were going to be in our room for a bit. Well Mari from the front desk sent us an incredible gift basket! We were shocked!! This is why I belong to DVC!! The magic lives on!!!

Great stories both Rocket and NHmouse.

He went to the room and there was a woman getting changed as he walked in. Needless to say, she was not happy.

Had that happen too. Walked into the room, there was luggage on the bed and someone was in the shower. Turned around and walked out. The person in the shower didn't even know we were there.

Similiar story here, checked into a very swanky local hotel for a special occasion. The suite looked like a frat party had gone very wrong, i half expected Bluto to roll out from under the food trays. :drinking1

Called the front desk and told them, was heading out anyway. Get back 3 hours later... nothing done at all, or they had another party. Now upset call again and finally send one poor lady with a towel, she looks around gave me a dirty look like i did it and calls for help.

Did complain but got nothing. Older and wiser now, and willing to cause a scene. Anyway it does happen to the best of them and is just a mixup/typo between housekeeping and the front desk

OMG LMAO - I needed that laugh!

We checked into BCV in August and found that the trash had not been emptied....but truth be told, this was the only real problem we have had at check in....i think we can all safely say that disney does it better then most.

I swear I live a charmed life!!!! I have never encountered a filthy room or naked guests anywhere!!!

Poor me....:( ;)
