BCV & Ebay...Wow!

I agree with you, Bill. It sounds to me like a loophole that DVC will find a way to plug soon enough.

If plutofan is correct, they already have.

I bet even at that price it will not pass Disney's ROFR if it was purchased by a non member. Disney just does not like non members getting those small contracts. Good luck to who ever won the auction.

Disney runs a business. I can't see it paying more to buy back points and sell at a loss. Particularly not when this will bring someone into the fold, allowing for the possibility of furture sales via ad-ons directly via Disney.

I just do not understand why anyone would pay over $95 per point even for a small contract when you can buy direct from DVC for that amount (if you are a non-member) and not pay for closing. Folks here have reported being able to buy sold-out resorts direct from DVC even though they are not existing members. Or buy via resale broker for no more than $95/point + closing.
I bought my 200 BWV points from Disney last June at $89 a point.

I just got back into town from a trip to Vegas and checked out where this auction closed. All I can say is, "Wow!" again!

I don't know what to think about the BCV mania. On the one hand, I guess I'm happy to see such demand, and it's good for the owners that resale is so high. On the other hand, I feel sorry for them if they're having trouble booking ressies at their own home resort even before the 7 month window. I guess I'm mostly just confused, since this particular resort doesn't hold any special appeal to me. I'm happy so many people like it...it's just not my cup of tea.

It could be that way for some. A lot of us with kids know our spring break and XMAS weeks 14 months out making it simple. $115! Thats approaching double what we paid ($60) 4 years ago. :cool1:

I actually bought my first two contracts through the guy on E-bay you are all talking about (50 pt and then 83 pt - both BWV September UY) and paid an average of $93 per point - got thru ROFR no problem - maybe the ridiculous price I paid on the 50 pt combined with much more reasonable price on the 83 pt helped here -

Then, I bought our third contract through TTS - 150 pt for $83 pp.

In the end of the whole thing, I'm thrilled anyway so it doesn't matter - :cloud9:
