Does anyone know how much it will cost to join the DVC as a member at the BC. I know that it will vary, depending upon the type of accommodation (ie. one bedroom, etc). Also, if you own a DVC at another level, can you upgrade to add points to qualify for the BCV? Thanks!

There's tons of speculation about the BCV price, altho conventional wisdom has it pegged at $80/point or so; there's unconfirmed but seemingly reliable info out there that says that the initial price will be $75 with an increase in June. Looks like the point structure for stays will be the same as VWL and preferred at BWV.

RE the upgrade question: As a DVC member, all five, soon to be six, properties are available to you. Way cool, huh? So if you own at any of the other properties, you'll "qualify" for the BCV, the only downside being the 11 month/7 month window.

Finally, if you were to buy or already own at any of the other resorts, you can add on at BCV when it comes available.

Dang, isn't life great??:bounce:

Thanks for the response! How can I find the point structure for the existing properties? Also, what does the 11 month/ 7 month rule mean? (Can you tell I am new at this?;) ) Thanks!

Here is a link to the point calculator that is on the DIS boards. http://198.65.141.34/resort/dvcpoint.shtml If you enter your dates you normally go and use Wilderness Lodge Villas as a comparison resort to BCV then you should get the approximate number of points needed. You can also call the vacation club and they will mail you a chart.

Whichever property you purchase into is called your home resort. You can make reservations at that resort 11 months before your date of departure. You can make reservations at the other 5 DVC resorts 7 months before.

FYI, I have heard that BCV will intially sell at $75 per point until around June then go up to $80 ppt.

MJS, I would suggest that you read the DVC Frequently Asked Questions page. Here is the link

It will answer many questions and will also give you a good understanding of how DVC works.

Mom is the owner I am the coordinator of her DVC. She wants to know if there will be 50 points sold at BCV ? And can she add it to her existing mortgage?has anyone liked adding points at HH or Vero? Thanks!

Disney has not announced the price per point or MB availability for BCV. Several people have been told the BCV price per point will be $75 until June, when it will increase to $80. No rumors on MB.

The minimum purchase is 25 points, 50 points to finance thru DVC and currently 100 points for MB. Financing for an add-on will be with a new financing contract, but should be easier.

How does banking and borrowing work with a new purchase, If I buy in February and have a March use year, can I bank any of February's points, or do I start out in March with none? Does that mean there is really no incentive to buy until my use year?
Thanks for the info.

I would think your first points would be March 2002. I would ask when you have to start paying dues. It's usually the day you purchase the points, but since this is a pre-sale, I'm not sure. If you have to start paying dues immediately, I would wait.

If you buy in February with a March, 2002 use year, they will probably bill the annual dues when the contract closes. That will normally be about a month after you return the paperwork.
Think MS will accept reservations on a new contract after the paperwork and downpayment have been received and a member number has been assigned.
You cannot bank or borrow until the contract has closed.

They don't bill the dues until after the closing, but they pro-rate it back to the date you purchased. If you buy on Feb 1, you would have to pay 334/365 of the annual dues. If you buy on March 1, you would pay 306/365 of the annual dues. If you can't make a reservation with the BCV points yet, why buy them in Feb? Unless they make a special arrangement for dues.

So if what DebbieB is saying is correct, it would be better to buy BCV in May, before the June price increase. This would save a few hundred dollars on pro-rated dues. This will also give me time to decide if I really need 300 points @ BCV, or if 250 would be enough (for now).

I realize we are all just speculating. Hopefully Disney will clear some or all of this up in early February. My guide called and left a message for me Friday that VWL would be ending sales Feb. 2nd. I think I'll give her a call tomorrow and see if I can get any further info out of her.

I could be wrong, it is rare, but it does happen, but I believe that there will be no difference at all in pro-rated dues wether you buy the first day announced or five months later on the last day of "presells". It won't make any difference wether you buy in Feb or May. The closing doesn't happen till the resort recieves final aproval from the state of Florida, I think that all dues will start on that day.

Isn't that how "presells" worked at VWL?

That makes sense Rich. I can't see how DVC can charge dues on a resort that isn't open yet...spruce

Think Rich is basicly correct. The fiscal year 2002 may be 5 months or 153 days. So the pro-ration of dues will not be based on 365 days. Still think the state will allow sales to start prior to completion of the resort. If occupancy isn't until March, and sales begin in February???
DVC will have the right to bill estimated annual dues when the contract closes.
