We attended the BCV Annual Meetig today. My laptop has DIED and I'm reporting from a Blackeberry so this will be brief. If there are any questions please ask. Q

Jim Lewis called the Directors meeting to order at 3:00 pm. In a tightly scriptwed meeting, with no audience participation allowed, the proposed Annual Dues were accepted with an additional .0366 per point for the additional taxes for 2006.
The Members Meeting followed with the board approving the proposed budget. This represents a 1 percent incrrease in the operating budget plus an 8 percent Cap Reserve increase and a 9 percent property tax increase.

There will be new DVD players in all studios, new sleep sofas, new linens (250 thread count sheets), new towels, and new amenities (H2O+ products).

I had the opportunity to ask DVC treasurer Lawrence Smith about the HH increase and got a full report about the increase for 2007. The increase was for an unexpected advance of Capital Reserve expenses that needed immediate attention.
If anyone has any specific questions, please ask.

Enjoy!

Any update on mattress replacement?
Yes - mattress replacement is going on now and will be completed in 2007. They are upgrading to Sealy Posturepedic 727 Pillowtop mattresses.

Member satisfaction is at 93-96 percent for the varioius categories for all members and 84-87 for BCV owners.

DVC is rated as the #1 timeshare (yes, they did use that word) for owner satisfaction by Market Matrix.

MS is overwhelmed with the utilization of the Sat hours and is adding staff for that period to meet the demand. They apologized to those who have longer than usual waittimes on Sat.

Recent member mailings of information and the giclee did NOT come from member dues. The giglee is now available in DVC resort stores for $50 and has been seen on eBay for more.

DVC may consider having more than one member cruise in the future. There are now over 300,000 individuals named on deeds (over 100,000 unique memberships) and there has been high interest in the member cruises.
There were only about 45 members in attendance for the meeting.

I'm not a statistician, but those member satisfaction numbers look pretty significantly lower for BCV than the DVC average.

It would be interesting to see those satisfaction numbers for all the resorts. Is it part of the standard presentation or was it in response to a question?

Wasn't the new sleep sofas a 2006 project? Will it be done soon?

We just came back from the BCV and our sleep sofa had not been replaced nor had our mattresses. We had a great time regardless but, the sleep sofa was definitely uncomfortable.

Thanks Doc! I'd love to get to one of those meetings one year.

I had thought they were repacing the sofa matteress in 2006 not the sofas themselves.

Doc, Thanks for spending some of your vacation to go to the meeting and report back.

Sonya Deese-Byrnes, General Manager for DVC Resorts offeref the overall satisfaction stats and commented that DVC will continue to strive for improvement - 100% satisfaction is the goal. Bill Thompson, BCV manager, gave the specific numbers for his resort. I assume that the GM for each resort offered the specific stats for their respective resort. I agree, the numbers for BCV do seem low compared to the "all members" numbers.

That was part of Sonya Deese-Byrnes report. I don't know if it was part of the 2006 upgrade, but she suggested sleep sofas will be replaced in 2007. BCV will also have new spreads, new sheers, new hallway carpeting, new pool patio umbrellas among other changes.

Thanks!

As someone who often stays in studios, I'm pleased that DVD players will be added. We've used them a few times when we've stayed in larger units, and it's a nice option to have on a rainy day.

Do you think the satisfaction numbers are gotten from owners or people who have stayed there and filled out the on line questionaires? If you think from owners, how do you think they got the data? As VB, BWV and VWL owners, I don't remember being asked about satisfaction.

I was wondering this also. I own at BCV and would like to vote on my satisfaction! ;)

Thanks for the report! I went last year to the meeting and at that point their plans were to replace the mattress' in 2006. If this was the plan and wasn't done, where did the $$ go? I'm not complaining, but just wondering if they make this statement and it's not carried through, what happened to the $$ planned for this? Who's responsible for our hard earned $$ we spend on dues, etc?
Whoever answers, thanks for clarifying for me!

Holy Smokes! Pretty good for a blackeberry, Doc. I can't do that well with a regular keyboard! :teeth:

Thanx for the info!... :santa:

They stated that these were Member satisfaction reports, so I doubt they are influenced by non-members.
We get a survey for almost every trip and always fill it out. The survey has usually asked if we are DVC members.

... MG - thanks for the compliment. Since I'm not a typist (I use hunt and peck) it doewn't matter too much what I type on but the Blackberry is pretty cumbersome. Fortunately I was able to transfer some important R/T files to Caskbill on Monday before the laptop died yesterday. This is being sent from th Osborne Lights!

Sounds like they need a heckler. I'll try to arrange my '07 travel plans accordingly.

Thanks for the report, Doc!

We spend last Friday and Saturday in a BCV Studio and our room had a DVD player and a new mattress on the bed but I don't believe the sleep sofa mattress was new.
