After thinking about buying into DVC for several year I finally made the jump buying 200 BCV points last week while staying at AKL. I was told by my guide that they expect to basically sell out BCV around March, 2003. Since Saratoga won't open until spirng 2004 I wonder what that lag time will do to sales?

I understand that they have never had a year with no current resort availability. They also said they expect that Saratogo will not sell nearly as fast as BCV did do to the less desirable location.

I am also wondering if Disney will become more active in buying back resales in order to have current product to sell while waiting for Sartaoga to open. What do you all think?

A March sellout of BCV would be well ahead of any projections we have heard here. I would think that if they were on that schedule they wouldn't be offering Magical Beginnings still. Just and opinion.

On the other hand, DVD might enjoy a period where VB and HH are their only resorts to sell. They might finally finish them off and allow them to start clean with SSR.

Welcome Home!! You made a wise choice in purchasing DVC.

That being said, the idea of a March BCV sellout seems to me to be misinformation or spin. I'm curious. Did they tell you that before or after you decided to buy?

When we were down after Thanksgiving one of the DVC reps told me that BCV were about 50% sold. To sell the remaining 50% in three months seems rather optimistic. Of course, the rep I spoke to could have been wrong about the 50% and it may have been more.

I was told that after I decided to purchase I believe. There was absolutely no hard sell on his part and he has been with DVC since the beginning. He did say that BCV is selling faster than the other resorts have and he was honest that he felt Saratoga would be a harder sell, mostly due to a less desirable location. Perhaps March is optomistic on his part, but it is still 3 months away and I saw several posts a few weeks ago saying BCV was 65% sold out, if that was true, I can believe it will be sold out by March or April.

Remember, they will not have another completed on-property resort to sell for about a year after BCV sells out. I would expect that will help speed up sales the last 10 or 20% since there will be buyers who will not be left out.

Sounds like sales hype to me. I sincerely doubt that under the current situation. The way things are going, I suspect there will be little lull between BCV sales and SS sales. Maybe a general sell out my Xmas but pockets of points after SS starts sales.

There was a lot of pent-up demand for BCV -- for starters, people who were shut out of BWV and didn't want to buy-in over at VWL. Moreoever, many folks love SAB so much that they bought-into BCV just to retain the ability to use that pool area. DVC has had very little need to hype their sales, anytime in the past, and indeed wouldn't benefit much (now that the new year is here) from any such hype.

At the BWV annual meeting (12/05/03), the board members said the BCV were approximately 60% sold out.

Unless the pace of sales picks up considerably or they sold lots of points before Christmas, I think a total sell out in March, 2003 is optimistic. If BCV is really selling that fast, I predict another price increase very soon!

My DB and DSIL spoke to the guide in the lobby of the WL this past weekend. He told them BCV is 70% sold out.

When we were there 12/7-12/16 a DVC rep on site told us BCV was 70% sold out; when we returned home and I called our guide, Betty, she told me they were about 65% sold out. We called her to talk about possibly buying more points, which we are now considering after our first stay. We are in LOVE with BCV. They were beautiful!!

Don't know when they will sell out but now that DVD has done a pre-sale (BCV went on sale 5 months before opening), it is likely Saratoga will go on sale towards end of 2003 if Spring 2004 is projected opening.

Gosh; from 60% to 70% in less than a month -- a March sell-out sounds very plausible.

We just bought 200 points into BCV on 12/26 and our guide told us that BCV is 70% sold. We bought into BCV for the same reasons as most other people - location and pool.

Candyht,

I bought my 200 BCV points on the 26th too!!
Must have been a busy day there!

We were also told that VWL were sold out - and it turned out they had a small inventory left, they just had stopped selling when they released BCVs.

My guide told me about a month ago when I inquired about a smaller add on that BCV was 60% sold out and they expect it to be sold out by spring.

It seems to me that alot of people spent their christmas money on DVC, which was probably expected.

My guide (who has been with DVC since the beginning and is very non - pressure, he even explained why it was not wise for me to do an add on now) Told me there will be a SSR pre sale incentive beginning in late spring 2003. I asked him to notify me when that was available and he indicated he would.

All along I felt that BCV would sell out extremely fast, that was my motivation after 7 years of pondering DVC, It was too good not to grab.

I'm not talking hype with DVC in general, just with this guide. Regardless, I suspect the information is inaccurate, for whatever reason.

We just went to the sales presentation on 12/24, and were offered BCV or VWL. There was no mention of VWL being at or near sold out. Imagine my surprise when I started researching and kept hearing it wasn't available.

Of course, the prediction that SSR will be a slow seller because of location may be true because many folks did buy BCV to be near EPCOT/Studios and SAB. I think SSR will be a different market. More "older folks" (Grandmas & Grandpas) and people who enjoy a more relaxed-style resort like OKW and VWL. I'd add on at SSR if I was in the market for more points.

I think BCV & BWV are beautiful, they just aren't for everybody. That's the great thing about DVC - our availablity of choices!

We are also new DVC members - we had called in Sept and at that point, they were selling Beach Club. We decided in early October to go ahead and purchase (but boy do I wish we had known about this board and resales!) and found out that they had some Wilderness Lodge and something else available (Boardwalk?) that they had opened so we opted to purchase into Wilderness Lodge.

Thankfully, we got in before the price increase....

These boards are wonderful for information.... thanks everyone!!
