Hi, just been thinking.....

I am a monorail girl and absolutely LOVE MK!

I have points at BLT purely to have the monorail and the ability to walk to MK. But I am looking at getting BCV points as I 'think' I will love the boardwalk area, walking to Epcot/DHS & for stormalong bay.:cloud9:

But.....has anyone missed BLT/the monorail resorts when they are staying at BCV??? I understand it is a shared bus service to MK and I am wondering whether I am going to hate this aspect??

Anyone actually feel as though they are removed from the magic of MK by being at Epcot rather than MK??

I have yet to stay at an Epcot DVC, and although I already feel as though I will love it for all the great things mentioned above, I am concerned whether I will miss BLT??

Many thanks for your thoughts.

As you already know, we are huge BLT and MK fans. We are trying out BCV this summer and doing a split stay for this very reason.

I know that I would miss the access to MK if I didn't stay there for part of my trip. Last summer, we did BWV, BLT, and VWL and I loved being at BLT, although VWL was not that bad given the easy boat ride to the park (not as great as walking, IMO, but would do).

Now, my hope is that we love BCV for its ease to Epcot and DHS and will always plan the split stay in the future. Because we travel in August for the time being, I don't think we will run into many problems booking there. We got the nights we needed this year without issue--two at the 7 month window and added on one more at 6 months out.

While we are at BCV, our plan is to not do MK and save those for the time we are staying at BLT. We always rent a car and don't use the bus system so driving to everywhere is always part of our plan. We just love the convenience of this as we did buses the first year we went and did not like it.

We like BCV resort for its easy access to Epcot....that's it.

But wouldn't want to stay a week there, and only see the real benefit at the Food & Wine Festival.

thank you both:lovestruc - that has actually given me a lot of 'food for thought'!:thumbsup2

I know that there are huge fans of BCV, and I can totally see why, especially as so many love Epcot and the F & W.

I am 36 now, and have ALWAYS loved MK best, in fact I am not bothered about World Showcase at all (I have always felt that if I wanted to visit china, italy etc, I would just go there - I come to USA because I love USA!!! - but again I can see its appeal for someone else!:thumbsup2)

Having said all that, I really like the idea of SAB and wandering around the Boardwalk in the evenings and popping to Epcot for Illusions, not to mention the campfire and Beaches n Cream. So I am still torn.

We are visiting in Dec and will have a proper look around the Epcot resorts then, but I am now beginning to think that, even if I decide to add on at BCV, that I will still need enough BLT points to split stay there - as I can't see me enjoying the bus ride to MK, knowing I could just be walking back to my room:goodvibes

Thanks again!:thumbsup2

BCV has great character, charm & location... not to mention awesome pool! It has been our favorite resort... however, we haven't done BLT yet... we have a MK view booked this year. We added on BLT because of proximity to MK & being on monorail line. We love BCV because of the 5 minute walk to EPCOT and having Boardwalk across the lake.
We feel that we have the best of both worlds. I suggest looking into BCV on a resale... the Timeshare Store is great! We're in the process of adding on at SSR... I like the idea of walking to DTD and looking forward to the new Paddock Pool area.

thank you - yes we will definitely be going though the Timeshare Store, when the 'time' is right!!:thumbsup2

If your up to it, you could walk through EPCOT and take the monorail to MK.

:goodvibes

We would miss the walk to EPCOT from BCV more (dinner and drinks), we always do split stays and from now on it will be BLT and BCV. Cant beat walking to those parks. :cool1:

We love both. We have a split stay coming up with 5 nights BCV, 2 at the GF and 5 at BLT and I can't wait.

BCV is very relaxing and we do love the short walk into Epcot.

Oh, there are movies at BLT/CR BTW.

We are BLT owners and as soon as we feel comfortable doing so, we will add on at BCV. Yes, I miss BLT when I'm not there, but we all miss BCV when we aren't there, too. Even if you leave out the Epcot proximity, it's a resort that has a lot to offer families. And this is coming from someone who didn't even like it at first! I first stayed there because it's the only place I could get an AP rate (with my sister), then again because my son wanted to try the pool. Each time I was kind of bitter about not being at BWI. But that second trip turned the corner and the next time we needed to choose a late-summer hotel (all this was pre-BLT), it was BC.

When we bought DVC, BLT was the natural choice - we really wanted to be there, loved the hotel, and it was a good deal for us. Win-win-win. But we knew an add-on at BCV was in our future. Sometimes when I'm there, I think "maybe we should just sell one of our BLT contracts and buy BCV" but that's crazy talk. ;)

So why do we love it? Well, it IS nice to be close to both Epcot and Studios! We always rent a car, so the buses are a non-issue - we even drive to MK, despite the conventional wisdom. We love the pool (and I'm not even a pool/swimming person, but I enjoy the pool), we love the atmosphere. We love being able to swim in the afternoon then enjoy Beaches & Cream without fighting a crowd. (My son always wants to go there to eat even when we aren't staying there, and I'm always a little worried about what the wait will be when we show up - but when you're staying there, it's much easier to gauge when to show up.) We like the movies on the beach, easy access to good restaurants and recreation opportunities like surrey bikes. We'll be staying there again in August and we're looking forward to it.

I would STRONGLY suggest staying there or at least in the Boardwalk area before you add on, though - the contracts at BCV are much shorter than BLT (2042) and the dues are a good bit higher (5.15). I know a lot of people buy sight unseen, but in your case where you aren't sure what you want, I'd try it out first.

thanks everyone once again!!:lovestruc I must admit I am really torn, but we do love split stays (until you all had posted though I wasn't sure whether the two resorts were too close to do a split stay - we would normally split BLT with AKV - but I see that the BLT/BCV split seems to work well for alot of you, so that may well be a great option for us too!!):thumbsup2

I agree with you Tara, that we really need to try out the Epcot resorts before we actually buy - I will be visiting them to at least see the rooms and get a feel for the Beach Club in Dec - but if I am still unsure, then we will have to try our luck at the 7 mth window I think!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

thanks again:thumbsup2

When I read this, I was torn between :badpc: (because its not me), and :worship: for anyone this lucky. Guess I will go with pixiedust: :thumbsup2

We've only stayed at BLT once, but we have also stayed at BCV.

MK is our favorite park and being at BLT makes it so convienient, especially for EMH. When we've stayed out of the MK area, we always found the travel to MK to long to take advantage of the EMH. Also, I love the transportation options because with the monorail and the MK bus depot being so close, every resort/park is easily accessible.

BC has areally nice atmosphere and it is great to walk over to BWV, but the bus transportation takes a long time and the quick serve options are quite limited. Being able to walk to Epcot is nice, but except for the restaurants, Epcot is our least favorite park.

SoIMHO, BCV is better for hotel atmosphere. BLT is better for access to MK and other resorts.
