Is a 2 bedroom villa in BCV big enough for 2 families of 4? (4 adults and 4 children total)

any experience with this one?

yes - one family in the 1-bedroom and one family in the studio part. the adults in the master and the kids in the livingroom - the parents in the bed and the kids on the sleeper-sofa - or on the floor in sleeping bag or whatever.

or the adults in the 1-bedroom part and the kids in the studio part - whatever fits your needs best. - parents in the bedroom and livingroom sleeper-sofa -

I would make sure that the member with the points get the master bedroom (unless their is a good reason to give it up - mother is 81 - so she generally gets the bed)

now will you be happy with this arrangement - well I would go for 2 studios - they sleep 8 too and each family has its own villa.

If you have your heart set on a 2-bedroom - unless you are getting a dedicated bedroom - I would ask for a lock-out - then I would have housekeeping lock the doors between the rooms and have your guest in the studio - they can visit if you want your part but they have their own villa to go back too.

this way you have your privacy and they can charge with their cc.

a regular 2-bedroom is consider to be one room and will only take one cc.

Of course I am a really privacy manic...

I think if you are planning on spending a lot of time in the villa, you might be cramped. There really isn't enough seating for 8 people, IMO, to just lounge around the villa with 8 people. We stayed in a 2bdrm with 6 adults/2 kids for a night at the beginning of our trip. While it was fine for one night, I don't think I could have dealt with it much more than that. I would probably go the 1bdrm/studio or studio/studio route.

We stayed with another family in a 2 BR at OKW last March. That would be fine for a longer stay, plenty of room for everyone there! Diana

We stayed at BCV in a 2BR last August. It was DW, myself, DD (9 mo), DBIL, DSIL & 3 DN (8,8 and 6).

Although it was definietly cramped in teh mornings when everyone was trying to get ready and eat breakfast before the long day in the parks. We found that it was quite livable for a 7 night stay.

If you want more room (and less points) try OKW. The 2BR there is HUGE! Stayed there in May with 3 adults and DD. Had more room than we knew what to do with.

Overall, if you're not planning on spending forever in the room you should be ok.

Spiceycat; isn't what you are explaining above the same as getting a 1br and studio, thereby costing more points? I am looking at this scenario for the future and am concerned how the charging situation will be handled. Can this really be reserved as a 2 br and still have two charge accounts? Natt

yes - this is a 2-bedroom lock out - it is a 1-bedroom and a studio - but it is also a 2-bedroom - so you are only charged points for a 2-bedroom

the old OKW guide use to explain it much better than I can - I will see it I can find it...

the guide say it would be perfect for 2 families or 2 couples going together - you would still have your privacy.

however this only works with 2-bedroom lockout - not the dedicated. I have done it at OKW - twice - it worked perfect for us - once it was family and the other time some friends from work.

yes it will work - they get a different key for their studio than for your 1-bedroom - so they can get charge priviledges too. Now I never saw their keys - so I don't know how the MS computer handles it. You key (resort ID) won't open their studio - and the versus is true - their key won't open your 1-bedroom.

8 people in any DVC 2 BR is like Sardines, even OKW which has two queens and more space with a larger kitchen. You can do it but I wouldn't.

You don't say how old / big the kids are, and that can make a difference. We stayed in a 2 br @ VWL last summer: 4 adults , 4 kids. HOWEVER -- oldest kid in group was 7, and the youngest two were both 2 and tiny. We slept just fine, letting my sil/bil and their 2 yr old son have the master bedroom (ain't we nice?) while dh and I and our 3 took the 2nd bedroom. Our 2 yr old dd invaribly ends up in bed with us anyway, so she slept between me and dh, and our two boys took the other queen bed. I also noted that there was ample space in the "nook" area (beside closet in 2nd br) for an air matress or such, if we had needed to do so.

NOW.... at BCV, you could have a different story, since you aren't guaranteed the 2 queen beds as you are at VWL. FUrthermore, how big are those "kids", and how does everyone feel about a sleeper sofa, if needed? And older kids, if of different gender, may (or may not, haha!) balk at sharing a room.

About 6 yrs ago we put 9 in OKW 2 br (don't slam me -- it was 5 adults, 2 pre-teens, a 2 yr old and a pack-n-play baby). DH and I got the master room with our son and infant; my sister and her dh and 2 dds got the 2nd br, and my mom chose the couch (said it suited her back better). Honestly, it was still cavernous in there -- we invited other family in there for meals and conversation (they were staying in studios) and at times we had 18 total bodies present and it STILL didn't feel cramped. (EGAD, I'm sounding like you-know-who....)

If you intend to dine out and not hang out too much in room, and if all can agree on lights-out time (especially if the living room is someone's bedroom), you could do it. BUt for dining space, living space, etc., it will be tight. Now that our dd and nephew are 3 (and that much bigger and more active) I'm not sure I could handle our same accommodations again. I'm looking at giving them a studio next trip (but we will still get a 2br for ourselves.... what can I say, we're spoiled :) )

In addition to the size of the people, I'd be willing to bet that feeling cramped or not is also influenced by what you're used to at home. I've heard more than one person say that a two-bedroom is bigger than their apartment at home.

You can request that the second bedroom have 2 queen beds at BCV if that would make a difference to you. We did for our trip next spring. I think you will do okay if the kids are small and everyone is friendly!

I think they are actually reserving the 2 queen rooms directly so you'd know for certain if you have one or not.
