BBQ at AK

Hello, we are staying in a one bedroom villa at KV. We are planning to prepare dinner for two or three of the nights. Is the bbq that we can use not too far away from the rooms? As I understand it we would have to buy our own charcoal to use there but I'm wondering about what it will be like to ferry the food and utensils back-and-forth or is there a place to eat near the barbecue? Thank you

You'd want a room closer to the Jambo side. Probably a good idea to request near the Timon elevator. There's picnic tables and benches.

Should be able to. When you call, I'd even say "near timon elevator so I can use the BBQs outside" so they know WHY you're asking for it. That will help them give you a better room.

The BBQ's are by the sports courts which you can see in the lower left hand corner of this map. There are tables there too:

And in that map, the Timon elevator (and stairway) is in the same place as the red AED sign between the second and third building units from the lobby on the south wing (right side of map). A tad closer to the tennis court/barbecue area would be the Zazu elevator which is at the red AED sign between the 5th and 6th building units from the lobby on the south wing. Actual distance you would have to walk from any room in Kidani to the barbecue/tennis court area ranges from about 250 yards to a little under 2/3 mile.

I couldn't remember what that far one was! I'd still pick Timon for the bus proximity, though. You definitely don't want "close to Lobby" or Rafiki area though. It can be a hike!

So, now you have me wondering, am I sacrificing being in a better location in relation to the lobby and as far as having a great savannah view by asking to be closer to the BBQ area? Just a thought as we may only use the BBQ once or twice.

Actually now that I look closer At the map I see that if we were to stay on between the second and third buildings we would not be that far from lobby.

So, now you have me wondering, am I sacrificing being in a better location in relation to the lobby and as far as having a great savannah view by asking to be closer to the BBQ area? Just a thought as we may only use the BBQ once or twice.

Savanna views are good anywhere along that wing. Choosing near the Zazu elevator would likely give you shorter walk to the barbecue than being near Timon elevator, but only by a little, and being near Zazu would put you far from lobby and very far from pool, but actually give you shortest possible walk to Jambo (about 1/4 mile from that elevator)).

Being near the Timon elevator puts you fairly close to lobby and close to the door on the second floor that leads directly to the bus station. One thing you should not do is ask for close to lobby; that is the most frequent request made, including because it is included in the online check-in location request page, and many who ask for it do not get it -- and end up near the end of the north wing. If you want to be fairly close to lobby and reasonably close to the barbecue area, requesting close to the Timon elevator is the best option.
